  1. Smoz - You might be right about the Super Mario guys. Some of them just might do that for a living judging by what they've done with the Mario games, lol. Also, I'm sure some of it is because the Super Mario series is likely the most hacked of all the old school games and hence why there is so much more knowledge about exactly how the graphics, engine, and such can be built, modified, or changed at will.

Cool to know that you are using ASM though. Like I said before, we SNES guys appreciate what you are trying to do very much and hope to see something great arise from the hard work you are putting in! :)

Halifax - Thank you very much. I got inspired to write it after about 50-80 exhibition games online in March over my spring break week. Everyone I have ever played against online (except one player who shall remain nameless) has always extended "GG" after each game, complimented my scoring plays, and generally been great people to interact with and play games against regardless of who wins, what the score is, etc. In some ways, their show of respect felt like something of an unwritten code for NHL 94 players and one that I not only wished to follow, but one that I also wanted to put forth in writing and maybe inspire new players to do the same as well...Just glad to see that it is appreciated by forum veterans like yourself.

Btw, I like your sig as well. That is a heck of a dream that I hope can one day be a reality as well! :)

  2. This is kind of a random thought, but is ASM hacking possible on SNES games?

Granted I know nothing about hacking, ASM, or any of that related stuff, but I've played hack of Super Mario Brothers 3 (NES) that was hacked ASM style and incorporated some features from Super Mario World (SNES) and was basically a brand new game built from scratch using the Super Mario 3 engine. To me, the use of things from Super Mario World indicates that ASM must be possible in some way on the SNES.

Could ASM maybe be a possible solution to add a full season mode in NHL 94 as well as edit logos/banners? Just a thought...

  3. I'm not sure if taking a penalty results in a minus or not, but I do know this:

You get a plus if you are on the ice when your team scores in either a 5 on 5 or shorthanded penalty kill situation.

You get a minus if you are on the ice when you team is scored against in a 5 on 5 or a powerplay.

If you team is scored on while killing a penalty, no minus is given to your players on the ice...

  4. I guess for the sake of simply keeping tabs on progress and maybe bragging rights (not really, because you guys in the leagues are way better players than I am...), I'll keep everyone updated on my record against others over spring break just for the heck of it.

    3/5/11:

    3 games vs. rc69fab: 1-1-1

    4 games vs. crash46: 3-1-0

    4 games vs. Grayto: 0-4-0

    3/6/11:

    2 games vs. danlizhot: 2-0-0

    2 games vs. OneLeggedGoat: 0-2-0

x games vs. crash46 (lost count but must have played about 10 or so)

Last count: 6-8-1 over 15 tallied games. Near .500 total after the bunch of games against crash. I guess I'm done officially counting toward a record at this point due to my lackluster job of tracking every game.

But I'll continue to list my opponents day by day and keep some sembelance of how im doing against you guys. Some of the moves you guys do on me simply blow me away. Love seeing the talent here from all of you!

As always, hit me up if you would like to play for warmup games before/during leagues or if you simply want some fun exhibition play.

  5. Sorry to hear you want to play but you can't bud. If you want..just quit college...we'll get you set up bud B)

Haha, thanks a bunch, but I don't think that's an option for me (quitting school that is...)

However, rc69fab set me up a while back over christmas so I'm good to go play games at home. I'm home for spring break until March 13th, so if anyone wants to play some exhibition games against me, send me a message. I'm also open to playing any games against SNES league players if they are looking for some warmup/tuneup games, etc. Would love to see how I stack up against some of the guys I haven't played against yet...

My AIM is Oilers442 and I hope to get some messages/games whenever you guys see me online. :)

  6. Hey all, I'm home for a week from college for spring break. Having not been able to join the SNES league this time, I'd love to play some exhibition games online this next number of days (March 4 through March 12).

So if any SNES players want to play me or need a warmup for their league games, my AIM is Oilers 442 and feel free to message me for some games. Take care all! :)

  7. Good to hear about this hack as I absolutely enjoy playing NHL 94 snes with updated rosters. 30+ teams would rule even if they had to have blank logos, banners, etc.

smozoma, of course I don't know the extent of your hacking abilities, but are there any plans to look into being able to hack in the ability to play games with 4 lines on each team? Granted this may be totally impossible I know, but I just wanted to ask...

No matter what, I think I speak for the snes players in saying that we appreciate both yours and northstar's work very much on the snes hacks. Best of luck with this latest hack and I hope to see it here on the forum within due time! :)

  8. Hi, I'm new on nhl94 online, this site is pretty cool. I'm already play against dan_lizhot(danlizhot2010) on Snes and I want register for the next classic league season :)

brouss, let me be the first to welcome you. I've been playing dan_lizhot as well and our games have been epic so far. Had lots of fun playing 2 games against you as well. I just started playing online myself 2 days ago and the players here are definitely the best I've ever seen. :)

  9. Here's mine I mad a while back if you guys are interested. My apologies about the music if you guys aren't metal/rock fans. Next one I do will have something more mellow/accessible for everyone.

This was made using a hack submitted by someone from this forum a few years ago. Also, I'm aware that these aren't the most electrifying/exciting plays in the world but I enjoy them for what they are and I hope you all do too. Cheers!

  10. Hey guys, just joined. I played NHL 94 for SNES way back when I was about 4 or 5 years old in the mid 90's. I've recently become an NHL fan again and have also begun playing NHL 94 again via emulator. Glad to see a great website dedicated to this awesome game. When I get more downtime, I'll see about trying to hook up with some of you guys for some online games. I'm sure they are very fun...
