  1. had 94 for sega, played it to death. found roms and emulators years ago and at first couldn't believe i could play all my old games again. still kinda dont believe it haha.

mame, nes, sega... found myself playing roms all the time when i was board. until i started playin online poker... then online poker got taken away 2yrs later on April 15th 2011(land of the free - my ass). found myself playin sega roms again lol

then one magical night in august, as i was opening a rom (for the millionth time): file>open rom, i noticed for the first time, right below where my mouse was, the word "NETPLAY" i was like wtf is this s**t? so i do a little exploring, i see server rooms?? and see that some people are playin SEGA in these server rooms?!?! :o

knowing nothing about netplay i just hosted nhl97 in a random room, thinkin a random dude would sit with me and play LOL. that didnt happen. but i kept trying. after a couple nights of doing that with no luck, i noticed nhl94 on the "waiting games" list, so i hopped in that room and tried to load up some NHL97, figuring i could get action from someone. well it turned out to be zalex, habs, and sebe in that room. they were like: U NEED .bin files! and no one plays 97 blah blah blah. then zalex and habs hit me up on aim and linked me to 94.com and told me to get in the ga! so i checked it out and went back to play.

sebe was my first game. finally! i was thinkin :D , over a week had past since i found the netplay feature. heres my chance to shine! sebe took it easy on me, 11-2 or something (im still trying to forget). after picking my jaw up off the desk, i joined the forum.

met alot of funny people here glad i found this. i dont play fantasy football, but i cant imagine it being as fun as having a team in the classic lg

  2. in honor of this bump i have to say line changes suck & off-sides sucks

    1) slows down game

    a ) more face offs

b ) players are physically skating slower (sometimes geriatric slow)

    2) player fatigue is completely frustrating and takes a away from some of the fun GA aspects of 94

a ) reduces chances of speed induced ram and jam goals and ridiculous checks

b ) dragging ass up ice with the puck while the defense gets to mash speed burst, sux.

c ) goalie never gets tired so he is constantly out running hes teammates when passing

    3) two line pass*

a ) this is a rule in the later versions of nhl

b ) if there is no 2 line pass rule, why have an off-sides rule?

*During the 2004-05 lockout, the league removed the "two-line offside pass" rule, which required a stoppage in play if a pass originating from inside a team's defending zone was completed on the offensive side of the center line, unless the puck crossed the line before the player. The removal of the two-line offside was one of several rule changes intended to increase overall scoring, which had been in decline since the early 1990s.* -wikipedia

    4) 5min periods

a ) there is no need for line changes and off-sides with 5min periods. really

b ) takes 5min just for 2 people to set up 7 lines each

quicker, funner, less strategy filled games are just better.

comparing the classic(gens) lg to the 2012(gens) lg, in the amount of time it takes to play 2 '12 games you can probably play 3 classic games after factoring in extra faces offs and line set ups

also, the one timer glitch and the checking/holding bs definitely adds to the negatives

  3. You don't have to be left-handed to play left-handed, and I think most NHLers actually play lefty...

When your right hand (dominant hand) is at the top of the stick, you have much better stickhandling, because you use that hand to turn the stick over. If you use your dominant hand as the lower hand, I think this gives you a better shot because that hand controls the shot (Ovechkin, Kovalchuk, Kessel.. all guys who like to shoot from really far away and actually score a lot.. all righties).

A trend I've noticed in the NHL94 players is that the lefties tend to be the dekey players and the righties tend to be the big shooters.

This is anectodal for sure, but I think it holds up!

!!!!!!!!! was thinkin same thing. thread worthy imo.

  4. doug loves movies (fkn love it)
