smozoma
http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=17580646 looks like it comes with wireless 6-button controllers 80 games.. not sure if it's a cartridge or what $
trudatman
"do not buy." "40 Genesis games, 40 crappy flash games." "cannot save." "wireless controllers only work when pointed directly at the console." "off-speed monophonic sounds." "no NHL '94."
smozoma
scratch that then (presumably you could save to cartridge, just not to the games in the built-in memory)
jer_33
The controllers must be infrared if they're required to be "pointed at the machine". Sounds like old tech. For $80 can't you find a real Genesis and a few games?
smozoma
maybe people wanted that "new system" smell
jer_33
maybe people wanted that "new system" smell ..okay, so.. a $40 used system and a new $10 toaster is still only $50.
smozoma
sorry for introducing everyone to a device they don't have to buy if they don't want to Pros: * it's small * it's new and clean, if you're into that * controllers are infrared/wireless and 6-button and hopefully don't fall apart too easily * 40 (mostly crappy) games right on the console * 40 crappy flash games * you can return it if you hate it Cons: * games can't save * most games suck * you can't play facing away from the console * sound is bad
trudatman
to clarify: the toy's controllers need to be aimed at a sensor, not just faced generally forwardish; this system has no capabilty to save to internal nor external games; there is no NHL '94 on this thing; nobody blames Smozoma for this terrible product that should never be purchased. smozoma
Wow can't believe the on-cartridge saves don't even work. That's a deal breaker. Here is a decent review of the product. he gives it 2 stars: http://www.amazon.co...#R1BF2KWYOODFS4 This page has a list of the games, which he seems to think are pretty good. he also likes the controllers, but says they need line-of-sight to the console to work (like a tv remote.. doesn't have to be perfectly straight on) http://videogamecrit..._genclassic.htm Ebaying a real system does sound like a better, bet, though. If you're in Canada, Nintendo is releasing the Wii Mini for $99, as well (like the original Wii, but no internet access) http://www.nintendo....try=CA&lang=en/
deadmeow
If this had VGA or HDMI video out, then it might be worth it, but otherwise, why not just get an old Sega Genesis off of Ebay.

MrSandman
I bought 30 good SEGA games and a "small" joystick controller from a friend the other day! For 60$ it was totally worth it. Now I have 4 copies of Sonic 2 !
