FireWarrior
Is there anyway that Ron Barr's comments can be edited? I hate having a very repetitive commentator calling my games. lol
beavers33
they can be edited, but they'll still be repetitve. you can't make him say something different every time, unless you plan to edit the rom before each game you play. FireWarrior
they can be edited, but they'll still be repetitve. you can't make him say something different every time, unless you plan to edit the rom before each game you play. That's not exactly what I meant. Here in Pittsburgh, Mike Lange on our radio side always says... "It's a hockey night in pittsburgh! Live from the *insert arena name here* the National Hockey League presents the Pittsburgh Penguins versus *insert team name here*" I thought it sounded a little more genuine, than robot Ron Barr... smozoma
Open the ROM in a hex editor, find the text, and edit it (being careful to keep the ROM size the same..)
perkabrod
Is it safe to use a space (space bar key) to fill up, my text is shorter than Ron Barr's comments and I'm in overwrite mode. Just want to ask this to be sure it's not a problem. Don't want to continue to next version of ROM before being sure it's 100% okay
smozoma
I think it'd be ok to use spaces.. or maybe figure out what it uses to know where the end is and use that. It might be looking for a 00 byte, or 0000.. Or FF...
CoachMac
I have just finished doing this for 93. If my edit was shorter I just used periods until the end. Which in 93 is a period anyway I have had no problems doing it that way. Just make sure not to go long.
perkabrod
Thanks. It ended with CANAL+ and then I only have one character left and I didn't like the look of CANAL+. But no problems so far so I guess it doesn't matter as long as you're in overwrite mode when you edit..
