  1. Checkpoints Great job thus far, 5/8 coaches are well past the 10 GP mark for week 2. Jer33 should be back from vacation this week and Wittgenstein has fixed his desynching issue, keep on the lookout for them on AIM to help them get caught up. Both the opening dates of trading and the trade deadline are on pace, and could be opened earlier if everyone gets to 28 GP before week 6. jer33 - 0 GP wittGENStein - 2 GP minpind - 8 GP probob38 - 12 GP kupuck19 - 14 GP LABS_66 - 16 GP Brutus.Khan - 16 GP JackandJose - 16 GP Stats With 6 out of 8 coaches proactively playing the first two weeks we are already seeing very interesting & competitive league. 2. The best athletes for the Americans and Canadians play in the NHL. Numbers of Americans/Canadians playing professional abroad are small. If other leagues continue to send players Russia Sweden and Finland will remain dominant IMO.
  3. if the NHL doesn't send its players, it would be interesting to see what happens with other leagues. US and Canada would be at a huge disadvantage.
  4. I agree, it might be better just to redefine amateur status in international hockey and all teams use amateurs. If it was U23 all the youngest NHL players would still qualify, NHL teams would have to call up guys from the AHL to fill voids. The youngest players would take risk in leaving their jobs and perhaps be injured in a tournament. It still leaves an unleveled field of skill between NHL players and those in foreign professional hockey. If all the players in Olympic Hockey were amateurs it not only would there be good exposure for the players but it would broaden the competition of the IIHF altogether. There were many countries that used to compete in Olympic Hockey that no longer do after the rules were changed to allow professionals. It is harder for smaller hockey nations to qualify than ever before. It would be absurd to allow Germany, Italy, France, Japan, Kazahkistan etc into the Olympics when the Canadians are star-stacked and the other teams fill rosters with players from foreign professional leagues. I could see a 2018 Olympic games with 20+ countries in the men's ice hockey competition without major professionals if the IIHF worked to reform a few things. The IIHF needs to define amateur status different than the NCAA does, amateur status in College Sports has been interpreted to not allow CHL (WHL, OHL, QMJHL) players to participate. If the IIHF can define amateur differently allowing players that are compensated less than variable "X" eligible for competition, than it would preserve the talent pool allowing professionals to play that are not in SM-Liiga, SEL, KHL or NHL. Most players outside those leagues (pro leagues in the UK, France, Australia, etc) are paid very little in comparison to the NHL. If we do without the NHL players, than it wouldn't make sense to still allow for pros in Russia, Finland, Sweden, and other leagues that provide competitive pay and play to compete as well. I think we can all distinguish differences between professional hockey in Sweden & the United States from professional hockey in the United Kingdom. I do not think the British born guy making less than $25,000 a year should be considered a "pro" like the Canadian born player that signs a multiyear multimillion dollar contract. My opinion is the IIHF should: define amateur vs pro that makes sense in the way hockey has developed internationally, and proceed without the professionals that make an actual livings as hockey players. Bring back the world cup of hockey in which the pros compete outside their NHL seasons and keep the Olympics for the amateurs. But in all honesty, would Olympic Ice Hockey be better from a fans perspective with only the world's best amateurs? I think so.
  5. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/islanders-f-tavares-knee-injury-142527903--nhl.html With the high number of injuries from Sochi looks like there may be a stronger call to not have NHL players compete in the 2018 games. What do you think? Should the NHL continue to let its players compete?
  6. NBColympics.com http://www.nbcolympics.com/video/lauris-darzins-ties-it-one-Latvia NBC has done a very good job at keeping their rights to the sochi coverage, not even NHL.com has highlights.
  7. Yeah the only hangup is it logs the stats as moog, so mayb it is the roster. probably just confused what chaos meant b/w roster and linechanges. Very good start - keep given'r. fun stats: Jeremy Roenick leads the lg with 8 total penalties. 47 different players have already recorded goals in the regular season to date. Steve Smith of the Blackhawks is 3 for 3 on shots - 100% shot pct. A total of 80 players have appeared in game thus far. John Blue has legally changed his name to Andy Moog amidst a personality crisis.
  8. I believe he switched them for starting line-up. Sorry Chaos, hope that doesn't create much extra work.
  9. Very cool video clip!! the game sound effects are right on with the play lol. Im not sure if I've seen anyone make a video in which they created a player star like your describing, good luck tho!
  10. Toronto putting F Borshevsky & D Gill on trading block. Will be looking for playmaker or strong shooting F and light D.
  11. Heard plabax had quite the avatar. What's the matter lil' guy? Already taken down? I may not waste my time with your forum posts or AIM messages anymore, BUT if you ever use personal images of mine or anyone else again: I will begin bothering admins like never before to have you removed from the forums. I really think you need a new hobby besides saving and manipulating peoples facebook pictures. Weren't you recently banned for a similar act to kingraph?
  12. Lol no way.... I should have started using this a long time ago...
  13. The site is up and going, Chaos has fixed the uploading errors. Thanks very much to Chaos for working hard to give us a place to upload and keep track of the league. If you have savestates you can try to upload to the site now and should be fine. Try to have 10 GP by Tues. 2/25. Trading will be opened either 3/10 or the week before.
  14. This post is hidden because you have chosen to ignore posts by PlabaxV2. View it anyway? lol naw
  15. 1 minute penalties are in the rom :dal_skater_hand_grab: chaos should have schedules and uploads available on nhl94online.com either later today or within the next couple days. Feel free to start playing, just be sure to rename and keep any savestates from the games you play.
  16. A league with only 8 spots doesn't need sign ups or a waitlist. It was very easy to find 8 people (less than 24 hrs) into the concept of the league that wanted to participate. I'm sure we won't have a problem finding replacements. A waitlist will force us to use replacements in chronological order, which just does not work with this league. Instead, we'll look for someone who is currently active and has a good history of sportsmanship and game completion. There are some higher caliber players that have expressed interest in this, but with Blitz and GDL both going right now wouldn't be the right time. Could be other divisions in the future.
  17. The league will log savestates onto NHL94online.com (thanks Chaos) There will not be a waitlist.
  18. Thanks mac, minpinD masterminded a lot of the mid-season format, major kudos to him as well for doing the work on the rom & a snazy lg name. Members please vote in original post on a few rule proposals.
  19. Have players you will be considering for trade at the deadline? Post them here, be sure to include tm name, player name, and positions such as: "Team Sunnyvale updates trading block with Bubbles - F, Julian - D, and Trevor - G"
