  1. www.kiekko.tk I'd play it a lot more if they had a server in the US instead of Finland, though. (There's a link for English on the right side of the menu at the top.)
  2. Worse than Raiders fans? Come on.... And we don't leave by the 6th inning the way they do in LA. And we travel well. But otherwise, yeah, you're pretty much on the money.
  3. I am not being patient.
  4. I think we can add Zinedine Zidane to this list.
  5. It wouldn't really make sense to have user records since there's nothing saved between online sessions.
  6. ??? Why would I have acted angrily after winning the series? Or did you mean after games 5 and 6? Everything you said about my conduct, though, would apply to you, too, since you certainly weren't angry afterwards, or if you were, you didn't show it.
  7. The series wrapped up in unexpected fashion tonight, as the competitors decided to finish things. Game 3 saw Boston climb back into the series, as despite a late Lindros goal to tie things, Boston prevailed in OT. Philly cleaned up in Game 4, hammering Boston 5-1, hoping to clinch back in Philly. Boston had other ideas, though, and befuddled the Philadelphia attack just enough to take a pair of 4-3 victories to force a decisive Game 7. The teams entered the 3rd period tied at 2 and Philly thought they'd won it when Recchi, whose slapshot they'd started riding after Boston had closed off other avenues of attack, scored with only :39 on the clock, but Boston took the faceoff and tied it 24 seconds later, leaving the Spectrum crowd in stunned silence. Series MVP Mark Recchi would not be denied, however, scoring two minutes into the extra session again and sending Philadelphia to the Stanley Cup Finals. I thank Matt Hurray for an excellent 7-game series, one in which I was never sure of the outcome, largely because the guy beat me twice this season. Great games.
  8. The Wales Conference Finals got underway tonight, as Boston and Philly locked horns in a tight Game 1 struggle at the Spectrum. The Flyers forced the puck across the line twice, however, and despite some shaky Soderstrom goaltending, took Game 1, 2-0. Game 2 was held shortly thereafter and this time Boston opened the scoring early in the second period as Joey Juneau had his first of three goals on the night. The Flyers struck back with two quick shorthanded goals to take the lead before the teams traded goals a few times, Boston tying the game at 3 with a minute and a half left. Pelle Eklund showed his veteran leadership, though, as a snap shot going wide of the upper left corner struck Cam Neely in the face (surprise) and ricocheted into the net, giving the Flyers a surprise 4-3 victory. The series is expected to resume in Boston sometime this weekend.
  9. Really? I use a Sidewinder and I destroy everyone I touch at NHL '94 (excepting those who lose to me by a small margin and those who defeat me.)
  10. Philly jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the series and expected to clinch in style in our nation's capital, but Carse and his team had other plans. Iafrate's sniping brutalized Tommy Soderstrom, and the team's suddenly-tightened defense led the way in two Washington victories. Philly called an hour's timeout on the series to regroup and go out for groceries in the rain before coming back to take his team out onto the ice for Game 6. Philly took the lead and later tied it after two Washington goals, and a nifty Recchi backhander with 2 minutes to go provided the margin of victory, though Soderstrom did have a few nervous moments late in net. With the victory, the Flyers advance to the Wales Conference finals for the second straight season, and look forward to a mighty tussle with underrated Boston, who beat the Flyers twice this season. ggs Carse
  11. 2 wins over kgman. I congratulate you. 2 losses to James. kgman, you disgust me.
  12. The only problem with donny's (dmitry's) system is that there is no way to handle an incomplete game (desync, disconnect, whatever) except to replay the game in its entirety, and disregarding the previous results. Is there any way we can have the database set up so that it can accept multiple alphas/save states for a single game?
  13. Just wanted to pass this one along....
  14. Philadelphia dispatched Pittsburgh tonight in their Eastern Conference quarterfinals series, 4 games to 1. The Flyers dominated the first two games at the Spectrum before a game Penguins team made them work hard for a Game 3 win and managed to hold on for a tight 7-6 victory in Game 4. They couldn't sustain momentum back in Philadelphia for Game 5, however, as the Flying Men of Philadelphia cruised to the clinching victory. Philadelphia now moves on to take on the diabolical Washington Capitals and their controversial owner, Carse. GG, Nick.
  15. It kinda looks like two dudes wailing on each other.
  16. I'll add that it can freeze player 2's Gens and Kaillera if player 1 leaves the channel before player 2 has had a chance to close the ROM on his end.
  17. I'm going to assume that it's ok to abstain from some of these awards, because I don't think I could come up with a meaningful vote for some categories. If this is not ok, well, Evan, you can go f*** yourself. Best Overall Coach Of the Season - John Best One-Timer Coach - X Best Deke Coach - X Best Slapshot Coach - X Best Defensive Coach - Marc Best Offensive Coach - Tickenest Most Improved Coach - Jacob Best Coach With A Low Rated Team - John Best Replacement Coach - kgman Best Rookie Coach - John Coach Who Stuck It Out Through The Hard Times - Ben Most Hardware Broken During The Season - X See you in the playoffs.
  18. To get my playoff scores, you will have to unravel a series of cryptic messages and clues, each more devious than the last. I call it "Is Evan Dumber Than a Hamster?"
  19. This is the kind of extensive sleuthing our site needs now more than ever. I salute you, sir.
  20. Damn, Marc has to play kgman in round 1? Harsh....
  21. I know I've said this before, but offsides adds a couple of additional strategic elements to the game. First, it can benefit the players who comes to understand how his CPU teammates will act and taking steps to avoid offsides (largely by passing to that stray winger who's streaking ahead of you). Second, it's a boon to the defense, since clearing the zone becomes much more effective with offsides on, even if your flip of the puck out of the zone is caught by the other team at the red line.
  22. Is there going to be a separate thread at some point for voting on various awards?
  23. The two teams are lined up at center ice for the face-off to begin overtime. The referee drops the puck. > win faceoff Your center successfully pulls the puck back and it goes all the way to your goalkeeper, who controls the puck. > pass to right defenseman Your goalkeeper passes the puck to your right defenseman, who handles it cleanly. Your right winger is ahead of you, and your left defenseman is to your left. The opposing center is charging towards you quickly from center ice. The opposing center is almost upon you. > pass to right winger You get the pass off just before the opposing center flattens your right defenseman. Your right winger handles the puck cleanly at the red line. Your center is skating up the center of the ice a couple of strides behind your right winger. The opposing left winger is closing in on your right winger from his own defensive zone. The opposing defensemen are in position in their defensive zone. > skate forward Your right winger skates ahead and leaves the opposing left winger behind. Your right winger enters the offensive zone a couple of strides ahead of your center. Your left defenseman is trailing the play and your right defenseman has reached his own blue line while the opposing left defenseman closes in your right winger. > skate forward Your right winger skates past the opposing left defenseman as the opposing left defenseman takes a poor angle. Your right winger has almost reached the goal line. Your center is charging towards the net while your left defenseman quickly approaches the blue line and your right defenseman crosses the red line. The opposing right defenseman has hooked your left winger. > pass to center for one-timer Your right winger inexplicably passes the puck to your left defenseman, whose one-timer hits your center in the back of the head and sends him to the ice in a heap. The opposing center skates back on defense and claims the loose puck. Your left defenseman is out of position while your right defenseman crosses the blue line. > check center with right defenseman Your right defenseman's momentum carries him way past the opposing center. Your defensemen are out of position. The opposing center crosses the red line with the puck. Your defensemen are just turning around to chase him. > check center with defenseman Your defensemen are out of position. The opposing center crosses your blue line with the puck. Your defensemen are several strides behind. > control goalkeeper You take control of the goalkeeper. The opposing center appears to be favoring his left side as he skates towards your net. > dive right at opposing center Your goalkeeper dives right at the opposing center, but the opposing center swerves to his right and dodges your goalkeeper's dive. The opposing center has an empty net in front of him. Your defensemen are just crossing your own blue line. > smash buttons frantically I don't understand you. Please rephrase your request. > swear aloud I don't understand you. Please rephrase your request. The opposing center shoots the puck into your net. Your team loses the game. > throw controller at wall
