  1. your answer about "70%" addressed the quote above it at a lower rate than 70%. thanks for playing! edit: alright! got my backup goalie a goal while she was playing right wing. everybody else was on the ice, in the box or injured. now to get one more off the ice to see what happens... well, I beat Buffalo 12 to 11 (20, on+, off), but I wasn't able to injure anybody else. I will try using pros with intent to injure scrubs... should be fairly easy to injure two players and get a few penalized at the same time, but I've yet to do it. while I have encountered some nice glitches, I suspect the "Arena" player or something weird can be achieved with that method.
  2. so after scanning this whole thread, I was surprised to have found zero Chiasson jokes. this site may be too classy for the likes of me.
  3. bumping this classic thread to point out what happens when you try to select the "SNES Game Bugs" in the top menu here, versus the myriad of problems the Beta (read: Genesis version) had. they haven't passed a law requiring the destruction of Genesis ROMs and cartridges yet? hmm...
  4. meth burst? no meth (required, at least) and it's Choate -- a real place. I'm wondering how long the periods were and how many passes you think you attempted and received. I feel like the lack of pass receiving is the hardest part. 7-4... I guess you picked ten minute periods. Sarah and Jill sure do give it up, though, so if you can't get any decent shots on net, you can lose in this game. did you enjoy it?
  5. are you saying that you didn't complete 440% of your passes? other ROM fails abound. one is at the end of the deck of player cards for both of the scrub teams. I suspect (though the 25 aggression ratings are slowing testing) that with multiple injuries and/or penalties, other fine actions will be seen.
  6. "....scored since the the eighth-grade picnic...." "....wants to sell my monkey...." "....a touchdown...." and one from Clocky: "....concent."
  7. Is It Windows Seven That Makes You Type Like This? edit: and how's that impact font working for you?
  8. the 2011 update has next year's Bruins and some other simple changes. you might enjoy it. --- you haven't played NHL '94 like this before. no longer is it extremely easy to tool on the computer-controlled team. the very scrubby West Medway What and the similarly craptastic Allston Massholes promise to suck something fierce against the 2011 Boston Bruins or the NHL Stars. the concept here is to have a few vastly different teams. two of the four teams are made entirely of my circle of friends and everybody on those two scrub teams has the lowest possible ratings, across the boards. one of the other teams is the current Boston Bruins roster. the other team is an allstar team made of many of the NHL's best honkeyball players. enjoy the potential to lose. ABBREVIATION - FULL TEAM NAME - OVERALL RATING WM - West Medway What - 25 ALL - Allston Massholes - 25 BOS - Boston Bruins - 90 NHL - NHL Stars - 100 beginner? play as any team versus WM or ALL novice? play as NHL versus BOS pro? play as BOS versus NHL expert? play as WM or ALL versus BOS best ever? play as WM or ALL versus NHL, or try to get through the playoffs note that having manual line changing on will tire your players out, a phenomenon that happens to an extreme with the extremely shallow scrub teams. use that option to tweak the challenge mode most appropriate to your skill level. this revision of NHL '94 allows you to select the skill level most desirable. you may put up hundreds of goals in a single game and/or lose to the computer. good luck! you'll want to use a gamepad, as a keyboard will be quite difficult to operate. here are the controls, based on the standard SNES controller: L = left defenseman control R = right defenseman control u, l, r, d = up, left, right, down directional movement X = goaltender control Y = dive, stand up, flip toss, hook, hold, vogue A = stack pads, skate, check, shoot, kill B = pass, player selection, poke check, steal, trip s = line change S = start, menu please note that the images in this thread may not show evidence of all of the mentioned features, as they are pictures from varied incarnations of this thing and some of the changes came more recently. --- if you do not agree to all of the terms that follow below, do not download a copy. 9. edit: succeeded in building a ROM I'm proud of, but there are still a few things I'd like to address....
  10. update: I just lost to STL, 7-6. wow. it's a whole new game. so hard to maintain possession. I need to stop trying to pass.
  11. granted it was using a hacked ROM and an entirely scrubby team (imagine five Smyths and one Beauregard), but the team that beat me 2-0 was the 2010 Leafs. ouch. finally! I have been waiting too long to for this loss. yay! edit: used an outdated version of the ROM linked in my signature.
  12. so who is left? I really hope Recchi comes back next season.
  13. I don't know what editing pointers even is, duder. so, knowing that I'm running what is essentially a windows emulator on a Mac to try to boot your editor, do you think seeking out that file and putting it on my Mac's desktop is going to get me there? I'm skeptical, but willing to burn this Mac to the ground to get it done. that's how much of a dream come tru this experience has been, even so far. thanks for the help, y'all. holler. edit: also, my new theory on hot/cold from home/away is that it is one of the forwards getting the home boost, not necessarily the center.
  14. SNES editor is failing, too: err:module:import_dll Library MSVBVM60.DLL (which is needed by L"Z:\\Users\\tru\\Desktop\\SNESEditor071\\SNESEditorv071.exe") not found err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"Z:\\Users\\tru\\Desktop\\SNESEditor071\\SNESEditorv071.exe" failed, status c0000135 Õˇ∆ˇâ€ˇÃˇ
  15. I suspect the random nightly boosts are fails and the home/away actually does change the player's attributes. and this thread suggests that NOSE is a GENS-only thing: http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?showtopic=176&st=30 so fucdat; I ain't no Genesissy.
  16. H O L Y F U C K I N G I M P O S S I B L E ! wow. need x11 (have) and xcode (think I have) to run WINE. downloaded WINE and it is some serious computer geek action. no exe and I need to alter the "terminal" file to say a lot of things I don't understand. that'd be fine if I knew what/where the terminal file was. all of the online help for WINE is in geekspeak and makes it look like it'd be easier to write all of the code from scratch. I give up. WAY too hard to use WINE. way over my head with "echo export PATH=/opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:\$PATH$'\n'export MANPATH=/opt/local/man:\$MANPATH | sudo tee -a /etc/profile" that I don't even know where to put. wow.
  17. did that guy die before finishing his testing? I suspect the idea was to make them vary, but in the reality of 0-6 it couldn't be done. I suspect the home/away advantages boost up one or two values on the hex 0-6 range, though. my center sure wasn't 25-29 for speed (displayed as 25!). he likely was 38-47. he was MUCH faster than the other 25s on the ice.
  18. try it out. use my ROMmy with Boston's scrubs and see how fast the center is at home. I bet removing home/away advantage altogether would slow him back to his prescribed 25. Mac can zip, I just don't think I have one already. I only ever unzip and the program I use for that is stripped down to just that function. NOSE would let me see/edit the images in the ROM, eh? worth doing. I have a 10.4.11 and I don't think it would just run a Windows program, but I am curious enough to try to get it set up with WINE. I should clean up my desktop, first, as I have a nearly full drive with mad music projects saved as WAVs and Audacity files. I doubt I'd have room right now to add a complex EXE to run Windows software. but it may be built in... I doubt it, but I don't really know.
  19. that video brought some questions to mind: 1. gameplay isn't really that fast, is it? 2. awesome graphics editing to get Melrose instead of Barr... easy to do? 3. is the penalty for injuring made by replacing the second roughing penalty with the word injuring? I guess I figured the second one was for removed majors (fighting), but seeing as there was a fighting one, too, I figure it was the redundant-looking roughing one, switched up. I can't believe that Genesis is the more popular online version, mostly because of the lack of goalie control. that infuriates me and I don't know how y'all put up with waiting and waiting to switch to the tender, only to find that, by the time he is usable, the puck is already in the netting. that and no defense control makes me wonder if scores usually run in the high thirties.
  20. okay. I guess I don't understand. they are not random, right? if I'm a 25, I might be a 23 or a 28 or something close, but never a 72... I may be missing your point to a huge degree, but mine is that I believe that home advantage gave my 25 (0) center a MAD speed boost. oh, and I couldn't upload the file as the type wasn't allowed here and I have no condensing program. it was easier to host it elsewhere than get a zipmaker or whatever.
  21. right, but this is not what I mean. these players are all 25s, across the boards. the FAST center was only at 25 speed at the time he was zooming around. I really suspect the advantage was home/away based. testing on PP/PK to follow, I figure.
  22. what follows is what I've done so far (2010 roster hack was the starting point). serious scrubs on Boston and Anaheim (my friends and myself), including the goalies and nearly every piece of text in the game has been changed. check it out: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=F7QVZJ0P
