  1. Hey Mikey Just curious if anyone is planning on making big banners to hang up at the event saying kingof94 or nhl94 tourney? Would also be awesome to have life size cardboard displays of the 94 sprites. Any of this in the plans? -Evan
  2. Haha - Mikey sure has been on a hot streak. Awesome stuff!
  3. You can put me down for Friday evening 2on2 if that's cool - will be flying in Friday late morning, and heading home Sunday morning.
  4. Flights are booked - we get into Toronto late morning on Friday, and fly back Sunday morning. Mikey, any news on the Delta hotel or other hotel discounts?
  5. Sounds great Mikey. I hope we get some really animated coaches (imagine if Hokkeefan makes it).
  6. I'd be in for some 2 on 2 - more likely Friday sometime. You can add me to the list, and we should have our flights booked tonight for better idea of when we'd be around.
  7. Hey Mikey, Can we get a camera feed of the players in the final games as well as a feed of the actual game up on big screens? I'm just kidding because that would be super distracting to the players (though awesome for everyone else!) but I'm sure we'll have plenty of action video of all of us playing. On a more serious note, is someone going to be video-recording any of the games? Since these will be played on the actual consoles, we can't just check the record checkbox and save the game. I know we're going to be logging them somehow. How many video cameras are you expecting to have at the event (that aren't smart phones)? Thanks, -Evan
  8. He's going to have the most '94 tourney appearances for sure at this rate. Good stuff!
  9. Mine was a renewal so it only took 3-4 weeks to get. If you're getting one for the first time, read up on the US Gov site for how long it takes. I know there's a process to get one expedited, so look into that too?
  10. Just got my passport in the mail yesterday, so I'll be booking a flight very soon (my wife will be going too who has played in leagues before). Looking to get over there on the earlier side of Friday so we can help setup, hang out, and leave probably mid day on Sunday. I'd definitely be interested in some 2 on 2 action that weekend.
  11. Yes, I'm going and just signed up on the website. As Raph mentioned, we'll coordinate via emails about meeting up and heading up there.
  12. Hey tru, From what I understand you need a passport: http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/country/canada.html -Evan
  13. Alright, I'm a little surprised NBAJAM beat out Tecmo Bowl, but the game is on! I might have gotten the first vote in - we're up 100-0.
  14. Just voted, we should have this one. Of course, Tecmo Bowl is probably going to win the other bracket so we'll probably be facing off against Tecmo Bowl in the finals. That will be epic (and makes sense as the biggest old school cult sports games).
  15. Awesome news Mikey! Thanks for letting us know, and for devoting all your NHL'94 time to a greater cause.
  16. I voted, but we need some more votes!
  17. Great thread Kabs! I could put a lot down here but here's the top 5 for each: In General (Non-Sports) 1. Red Faction (PC) - the original one with geo-mod - online gameplay was amazing 2. Starwars Galactic Battlegrounds (PC) 3. Toejam & Earl (Sega Genesis) 4. Worms World Party (PC) 5. Super Mario Bros 1,2,3 (NES) Honorable Mention: Kid Chameleon (Sega Genesis), and Call of Duty first Modern Warfare (PC) Sports Only 1. NHL'94 (Sega Genesis) 2. NHL'92 (Sega Genesis) 3. NHLPA'93 (Sega Genesis) 4. Blades of Steel (NES) 5. Baseball Simulator 1000 (NES) - for those who played - you could bunt with Boyd and run the bases for an inside-the-parker before anyone could react Honorable Mention: Hardball 6 (PC)
  18. Hey Mikey, Was there any update about Delta hotel discounts, and if we locked up Real Sports? -Evan
  19. It's funny you're so down on Cole/Bureau. I haven't played with Tampa much on the emulator, but on console the weight bug makes them a lot of fun. If I play with Tampa, the starting lineup would typically be: LW Bureau C Bradley RW Cole D Beers D Lipuma Weight bug means checks and more offensive opportunities.
  20. I know a lot of the guys here like reading history and such, and wanted to share this if it hasn't already been shared: http://www.polygon.com/features/2015/2/3/7952705/sega-genesis-masami-ishikawa -Evan
  21. Agree that there should be 1 Gens and 1 Snes champ. If the winners of each wanted to play each other on each console afterwards for fun, go for it but it shouldn't really mean anything. The 2 versions of the game play very different and should be treated as such. Most people have played 1 version for a long time, and I don't think it'd make sense to only crown 1 champ. One system will never be better than the other, just live along side each other like 2 loving siblings
  22. HAHA - This would be the only one I have my friend. Not sure if you remember, but I only played online from Fall 2005 (our first league which you participated in) to somewhere maybe in 2007. During that time (when leagues were new) I tried to only score fancy goals (worst game plan ever) and had some connection issues (though we probably all did). I didn't have a track record of being that good. I hadn't played in a league for about 8 years and came back to some pretty tough competition. I do play/practice on my Gens console, and though many will disagree, I think playing against the CPU makes you better against other people. There's only 1 human controlled opponent on the rink but the rest are CPU -Evan
