Hi Guys, Really hoping someone on here can help with this so thought i'd try to tap in to the collective knowledge. I've got the Sega CD file of the game. It's my favourite version having had both the Genesis and CD versions when they were originally released. Trouble is I can't get it to load up and play on GENS or on Fusion. I have the CD bios set up and other games like Flashback CD, Final Fight & Snatcher work absolutely fine. No problem, but for some reason both with NHL94 CD and also Sensible Soccer CD the SEGA CD screen comes up, then Sonic comes on and wiggles his star dust finger, and then.............nothing. The screen goes black and the intro movie never starts. I'm wondering if it's something to do with me needing a video card on my computer to run those intro movies since both games have them? (Sorry, I know little more than computer basics so i'm just guessing), but surely my computer is a s**t load better than a 16 year old Sega CD?! Any help would be much appreciated. Absolutely loved the Sega CD version & it's disappointing not to be able to play it again. Thanks

Great read as always, I always go for Murphy on the left over Ruutu. He seems to handle a lot better and have a little more ability to get behind the defence to lay a pass back for the one-timer. Roughly the same sort of pace as Ruutu but just seems like a more agile player to me. If you're playing with line changes Chicago aren't quite the same force as playing online without. If you're giving Roenick a rest it's hard to get regular goals from anyone else. In the Classic league without line changes though it is a pretty formidable line isn't it?! I find though that when you play against a skilled player they'll focus their defence on Roenick and crowd him out, based on the idea that the other guys aren't going to cause half the problems an open Roenick will, so they're certainly not invincible..............just a bloody tough game!

I'd like to think the guys i've played so far would tell you i'm actually a pretty good player, but i'm currently sitting here with a 3-7 record because I keep throwing away silly goals with the manual keeper. I've never used them before a couple of weeks ago, and I have to say i've no idea how you guys that are so good with them do it. I take my hat off to you! My biggest problems seem to be that if I double tap whilst poke checking it switches to the goaltender without me realising, who then shifts across in the direction i'm trying to poke check, leaving the goal wide open, and also that the delay between me trying to switch to manual when the attacker beats my last defender, and me actually getting control of the goalie means very often the auto keeper has already committed himself to a certain action before I can correct him. Any tips would be much appreciated. I've been in a winning position in 4 or 5 of the games i've lost, and although I told myself I was going to treat this 1st season as a learning exercise and to learn the manual keeper, i'm already getting very frutrated with being competitive in games but having to score 4 or 5 to get a result in a game where probably 3 would be enough to get the win. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

Well, I tell you what, if you put him in that Boston team or Vancouver or Montreal they'd score a lot more goals, and be a lot more dangerous as a result. Maybe someone has had him as part of a strong line up in the Blitz league and can give their opinion? Would be interesting to know

Great read these. Really love the depth you go into, and how you don't let your personal preferences decide that "This is right, this is wrong". Would love to have a read on Chicago & the NY Rangers some time if possible? Didn't see them on the list

Well, my school of thought is that quality is going to win through in the end. The opposition can't keep Turgeon quiet, or on his backside for the full 3 periods. It's a racing certainty he's going to find himself with 4 or 5 great opportunities in every game, and will pretty much always take 2 or 3 of them minimum. I think he's that good. Hogue will probably have the extra muscle to make 5 or 6 opportunities maybe, but will he have the quality to take them like Turgeon will? So do you go with the weight advantage or the technical skills? Me, i'd always go with Turgeon. He's one of my favourite players in the game and I really rate him as one of the "elite" players.

Don't know why, but I LOVE playing with the Islanders. Not because I can turn them into anything special, but they're a team with character, in that way everyone finds with at least 1 NHL94 team. To me Turgeon is the one true bit of class on the team, & I always thought of him as having the best 1-timer in the game. IMO he could be an absolute star in a better team like a Boston or Vancouver, who lack a real top-class center. I can't speak highly enough of him and would rate him right up there above someone like La-Fontaine, and certainly Cliff Ronning. A real gem. There seems to be a bit of a Hogue love-in here which I can't understand. To me he's just a bit of pace to get beyond the defenders and set up the Turgeon 1-timer. A good player to have, but I can't fathom for the life of me why anyone would put him in the centre ahead of Turgeon! As mentioned though, they're horrible on defense, and if you're playing with line changes they have no depth at all past Sc1, although King was one of those players that always seemed to pop up with important goals for me and became a bit of a folk hero for me. Disappointed to see him poorly appreciated here as I do think he's an excellent back-up player to have and does have his uses. Being competitive with the Islanders is how I measured my success with them, because they're certainly not going to win any trophies!

I feel even older now seeing people putting PS2, PS3 & 360 games down. I loved Grand Theft Auto 3 & Vice City on the XBOX and Pro Evolution Soccer 2005, and could easily play through them again now..........but I was in my mid-late 20's when I was playing them! Don't really count as part of my childhood! lol

I don't care. I'm waiting to take somone's place in one of the GENS leagues, so hopefully at least one of them won't manage it!!
