  1. In conclusion of the Michalek saga, I went to talk to the Ottawa Senators skating coach in person with the goal of finding out whether Milan Michalek, as of today, is a fast skater or not. The final verdict was that he is.
  2. Klima and Gartner are dynamic because of their unique stats. 7 weight, right-handed, 5/5 skaters with great shooting and stickhandling. Modano would be as good if he were right-handed. That's the purpose of the 0-15 rating scale.
  3. Fake player ratings is not the most real. NHL '94 plays nothing like a real hockey game, so don't expect the best guys in real life to be the best guys in the ROM. NHL '94 doesn't do this, yet you still get a pretty good result of who the best guys were in real life. It's better than making people fast and having good shots for no reason. Gretzky isn't fast and he doesn't a good shot but he's still one of the best in the game.
  4. The ROM will freeze after Game 1.
  5. I think Game Nights work better Have two days a week where everyone plays. What's in it for me with draft incentive? I already know I won't be able to draft the team I'd like to...
  6. I accidentally added an extra round onto round 1 x.x Round 2 is up and ready on the website. Good luck and try to get these in by the 11th of November!
  7. That's the problem - everyone is 4/4 and then Michalek is a 3/3. It's a clear error. If the slowest guys ever have 4 speed, why doesn't Michalek? Michalek is definitely faster than the average player (4 speed), so 5 speed makes sense IMO. Guys like AJ and BobK saying Michalek is a 4/4 skater are funny. Michalek is known to be a speedster who has size. I'm pretty sure Michalek won the Fastest Skater Challenge during the 2014 Sens Skills Competition and his time was the second or third best in franchise history or something like that. He would have lost narrowly to Colin Greening, who was in the finals (I think) of the Fastest Skater challenge at the 2012 All-Star Skills Competition. He's just Esa Tikkanen with a real shot and great stick-handling. We all know that Esa Tikkanen is drafted high ONLY because of his WEIGHT that is paired with his speed. The charm to Tikkanen is that he literally is the only heavy forward in the game that is a great skater. In this ROM, Michalek and Ovechkin would be the only ones who have this trait. Who doesn't like fast people who can't be body checked down?
  8. Michalek 4/4? Come on. For the record, when trudatman did his rankings, he asked multiple people and they ranked Michalek as a 5 in skating (in 2015). It's all opinion I guess.
  9. 4/4 skating.. like Bobby Ryan and Mark Borowiecki? lol
  10. one of the top 25 players in the ROM (who would be on my team) had a mistake that made him one of the worst!! Why would I complain? Silly me. Now someone in the top 25/800 players is compared to one undercooked potato in a steak dinner.. lol! good jokes man.
  11. You definitely played my NHL '13 ROM and I'll have to get the chat logs of you praising my work. If you look at it, changing player ratings in NOSE is not even "hard work or effort", it's just time consuming. It's not hard to rate a couple of stars and then throw in some random numbers for 95% of the players you don't watch.
  12. I am not going to share anymore knowledge. All I know is that whoever gets the puck can be decided by whatever direction both players choose. I have already tested this and I know it's true. Also, you can lose a faceoff due to not pressing B.
  13. Whether he is a scrub or not is irrelevant because we are playing NHL '94 and he is a scrub in REAL LIFE. This isn't Yahoo Fantasy Hockey.. this is NHL '94 where you only need stick handling and agility to be a good player. So what he sucks in real life? Translate him into NHL '94 and he'll be a star. The best players in the real world aren't going to be the best players in the ROM. It's just how it is. Look at Price, he's too fat to be a dominant goalie in NHL '94. Rask and Lundqvist are clearly better than Price in the ROM, but not in real life. I was going to draft Michalek, he was going to be my top scorer and he would have outscored your whole team combined. Michalek essentially is just a much better version of Esa Tikkanen, who has high draft stock in weight bug fixed leagues. There are only 24 players in the ROM, with great skating and great stickhandling paired with a good shot. Ovechkin and Michalek are the ONLY ones who are heavy. If you had a bunch of guys who knew what they were doing, Michalek would go in before mid-round 2 or round 3.
  14. If you read what skip was saying in the group chat, it sounded like he was bragging about his ratings. "I've been working on this for years! f**k NHL 16 haha".. So when I saw that he made a bad error in the ratings, I found it was funny. What's wrong with that? Me - "Milan Michalek 3/3 skating. lol!! Should be 5/5" skip - "Now get through all the 800 players and not just the ones you have a boner for" Me - "Milan Michalek is known to be a speedster. How can he be 3/3? skip - "Because not everyone can have a 5" Me - "So is the decision on who can have a 5 or not randomly generated?" skip - "Just drop out if you are going to act like that" Does that really scream heavy criticism? Come on, that's not heavy criticism. You are going to make a ROM, get the ratings wrong, and get mad when someone "calls you out" for it? Give me a break. It's not a little nitpick just to be a b***h. I'm not saying he should have 4 pass instead of 3 pass, or 3 defensive awareness instead of 4. I'm saying he should be 5/5 and not 3/3. The difference is huge. For someone who was going to be a starting player on my team, I found it was important to have their ratings right, that's all. I thought you would look at my comment and fix it instead of getting defensive because the last time I pointed a flaw out in your ROM you went to fix it.
  15. If it were random then I wouldn't be near the top all the time. It's a game that is similar to rock-paper-scissors. Houly and I tested this one day.
  16. I'm pretty sure it's rock-paper-scissors. I am good at noticing the habits and picking the correct option when I need to. If you look, I'm usually near the top in during the playoffs, which is when I am actually focusing on the game.
  17. Please.. lol. I helped out with your ROM, did I not? I still have the chat logs of you asking me to send you links, and thanking me so much for introducing you to things you never knew. Come on man. Didn't I test with you on multiple occasions when nobody else was around to play with you? There comes a time when you have to realize there is nothing wrong with criticism. You even took my criticism the last time. So what I laughed because you rated Milan Michalek a 3 in agility and a 3 in speed? Fact is, Milan Michalek is a great skater, and I am free to laugh in your face if you think he is not. To make things more clear, I only laughed because you claimed that you spent "years" rating these players and you also made a comment similar to "f**k NHL 16's ratings", so to see that Michalek was the worst skater on the Ottawa Senators made me chuckle. Because you are not getting paid to do this it does not mean I can't criticize or take little shots at errors in the ratings. Chill out man.
  18. A big thanks to EA and angryjay for playing Monday will be the final day to play.
  19. It's true. Notice how Modano isn't dominant like Klima and Gartner? Notice how you can spin 10/10 times on right but never on left? Have you used Robitaille? He says it all.
  20. All my AI do is C-check and take penalties (two things I never do)
  21. 99 agility means that you have a breakout speed of 99. When players start skating, they go from agility-speed. So Bure would start at 5 speed then increase to 6. Leetch starts at 6, goes down to 5, then 4, then 3.
  22. People don't like NYR around here. Gartner is a clear top 5 player in the game and he comes equipped with a 5/3 shot. He is also a right-handed player. Right-handed players are better dekers than left-handed players. Good, fast skaters with great shots and stickhandling are easily the most dangerous in the game. There are four different supporting forwards to choose from: Messier, Tikkanen, Turcotte, and Amonte. These guys all have good skating. Tikkanen and Messier have 5 agility, Messier has the 5 stickhandle and 5 pass. Amonte and Turcotte are your textbook wingers at 6/4/4. This team has some of the best defense in the game. Leetch, Patrick and Lowe are all great defenders and Leetch is the standout with an amazing 6 agility and 5 stickhandle. Leetch can kickstart the offense by breaking out of the zone with 99 speed. Anyway, tier lists are meant for high-level play. You need great deking skill to use NYR. Sure they may be heavy, but good deking combined with great skating will always beat out any weight disadvantage.
  23. I think VAN should be in the S tier. EDM is def B tier. EDM has good defense along with one of the best goalies in Ranford. along with a top 3 or top 4 player in Petr Klima. Yeah they have lackluster forwards outside of Klima but they do have a 4/5 shot in Craig Simpson. The C tiers are a clear step below (except NJ -- move them up).
  24. The helmets follow the same colour as the jersey.
