NHL '94: Wide Display Mode (“widescreen”) Hack v2.0 Status: Stuck at ~93% ~94% ~95% ~96% ~99% 100? updated 2025 07 26 To anyone reading this thread, please note that the content has been superseded by a v3.x hack. Check it out at the link below! The content below this point is now outdated, and will not be updated. The existing Wide Display Mode patches change the game to use the 320 pixel wide video mode instead of the 256 pixel wide video mode in most gameplay screens. This causes many cosmetic bugs, and I've been on a quest to try to fix every single last issue myself, for both the original and 32-team ROMS. Alas, I could't quite get it to 100%. You can see my progress my downloading my latest ROM, and using the included Wide Mode patch. It's almost perfect, but there are a few issues I need your help with. If you can help me finish this, I can write up an easy to use tutorial that will work on every '94 ROM, as well as output new patches. Known Issues #1. Instant Replay View. Two garbage tiles on the lower right side of the screen. #2. Unknown Errors. I've had some people report memory errors, particularly in long playoff series using teams #29-32. I've not yet been able to recreate these errors. Everything I have done I've taken this thing as far as I could on my own. Here are all my notes and research. I'm hopeful that some folks who're better at this stuff can help me get this project over the finish line! There are three sections separated into three different posts. 1. Patch v1.2 Analysis & Recommendations 2. Wide Mode Patch v1.2 Issues & Fixes 3. tldr; What do you need to get this to 100%? 1. To Genesis Sports Enthusiasts!!! I'm aware that NHL94' website is mainly for the NHL series, but with the recent news that Tecmobowl.org is no more (RIP). This is one of the last places people, gamers, modders, and anyone for a debate can go and tickle that itch. This post / project is to get some help on some of the games that are long over do for a refresh/overhaul. Triple Play Baseball (I've managed to get it cleaned, and rosters updated, especially without the dreaded "Ghetto City" or Jim's, or Frank's TEAM.) World Series Baseball (I've updated all the rosters (attributes as well), found the logos. But needing help on main screen, and some other aspects) NBA Live 98' (I've updated the rosters last year (all manually), but 96' has an editor which makes things a lot easier, I'm working with the guy who created it to see if we can get one for 98') Tecmo Super Bowl 3 (I've updated the rosters (attributes), speed up the game, able to find the logos. but need help on the screens.) I know this probably is a waste of time, since @Drunken_1, the master of SNES TSB3 is overhauling that game to be more of original game TSB4!!! PrimeTime Football / NFL 98 (I've done some modding there, but need some help to get the rosters completed and an overhaul of the helmets) Madden 98 (I've played with the rosters, but TSB is far better) PM or share as this is more to reach out to fellow enthusiasts and try bringing up closer with games we love....and updated features and rosters. Below are the games I've started and would love input or suggestions (I.e. NCAA alternatives). Also, at the very bottom, is the NCAA TSB that I found, can't remember where. But Ill give to @MT Remix and @JstoutLogic as they were the ones I found in the game. I need help trying to change team cities, names and arenas, players, numbers and names and logos for all EA NHL games for the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo (my preferred games: NHLPA 93 [GEN/SNES], NHL '94 [SNES], NHL '97 [GEN/SNES] and NHL '98 [GEN/SNES])... NOSE and EARE don't go as far nor as customary as I hoped for...

Hello All, I'm new to using NOSE, EARE, etc. I'm basically 'porting' my All-Time Rosters ROM from SNES over to Gens. I am using Sauce's 2021 32-team ROM as a base with the help of @seamor. I have already updated the team order, the home/away/pp/pk advantages, the number of selectable teams(30), the team ratings, the players, and the lines. I thought I was using the 30-team ROM from the start so rather than start over and use the 30-team ROM as a base I'd like to just continue with the progress I've already made on this 32-team ROM if possible. What I'm looking for help on is basically tying the new order of the teams with the actual team name and logos. I believe I would need to update pointers and, if needed, rearrange team data in the hex code to properly align with the correct team. I'm not sure where to start after browsing the forums for a while now. I will be copying logos and colors from the default NHL 94 ROM as a base to start with. I will then most likely update the jersey colors to align with my SNES version. I have also never used Tile Molester before after opening it one time and immediately feeling discouraged lol.

Hello Fellow NHL95ers!!! I'm making this post for anyone who has been inspired by all the hard work from the members across this site have done. This is my little way of giving back to help someone else along the way. A huge thanks to @kingraph @smozoma @wboy @Jkline3 @Asher413 @slapshot67 and many others, who I've missed - I apologize in advance. I've included in the zip file with a step-by-step word document, and the programs I've used to create my material. Most of the material has been shared before from @kingraph mapping list of NHL95, @smozoma Ditherer program, @wboy NOSE program, and @Asher413 knowledge of schedules. Everything I think can help you along your own way of creating something new. NHL95 Step-by-Step.zip

Hey all, I've been doing lots of behind the scenes work on my Dream League ROM, and while I was doing that I finally found a way to run NOSE on a Mac!! First, you're going to have to download NOSE from the link here. https://forum.nhl94.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=4289 Next, download the library files that are required for NOSE here. https://forum.nhl94.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=5245 Extract both of these packages to your desktop. Now, since you're on a Mac, trying to run .exe files is pointless. This is where WineBottler comes in. Head to https://winebottler.kronenberg.org/ and click the second button (the stable build) to install it. This is 100% safe and will not harm your computer. You should now have the WineBottler Combo .dmg file. Open it up and drag Wine and WineBottler to your Applications folder. Here's where the magic happens... Right click the libraryfiles.exe file and scroll to open with, then click Wine. You should see a dialog box. Check the box that says "run directly in ____" and hit Go. Once the installer opens up, click through it. It will tell you it is installing to windows\system32, which is perfect. It is installing these files into an emulated windows system that Wine uses to run .exe files. You're basically done! All that's left to do is right click NOSE.exe and navigate to Open With -> Wine. NOSE should start up just as it would on Windows!! Happy editing!

https://tcrf.net/NHL_Hockey_94_(Genesis) Kinda sparse, especially for such an excellent game, wouldn't you say? What are the hidden things that we know of so far? The ones I can think of off the top of my head are... NHLPA '93 music Weight bug Ice time tracking What else is there?
