halifax
ESPN columnist Bill Simmons has made the suggestion that the NHL should go back to 22 teams and have 11 based in canada and 11 in the states....and have those two winners play for the cup each season. This will never happen for several reasons but possibly merits a fun discussion....who would be your list of 22? matthurray
Would the smaller Canadian markets be able to sustain a team? Doesn't Edmonton struggle with that? I like the idea though... Florida and Tampa Bay don't need hockey. But Dallas and LA do pretty well with their fanbase - so I'd be hesistant to get rid of them. statto
Would the smaller Canadian markets be able to sustain a team? Doesn't Edmonton struggle with that? In the early 90's, when everyone was struggling to sustain a team in Canada. Now Canadian = pure profit.
halifax
Would the smaller Canadian markets be able to sustain a team? Doesn't Edmonton struggle with that? yeah for that exact reason..there would never be 11 teams in canada. Edmonton struggled before the lockout...but I think those days are passed now. Of course without the Sharks the dude is an idiot. lol..that was my list actually...I only picked those americans teams for no other reason than they are some of the colder climate cities. LA, Dallas and San jose would be better choices than buffalo, islanders or the blues economically.
Bob Kudelski
Northern Ontario Senators Please change to Eastern Ontario Senators. Ottawa is considered Eastern Ontario. Northern Ontario is like North Bay, Sudbury, Thunder Bay, the Soo..
