xdeathsbloodx
Ok, so I know I'm not the most vocal member of the boards but I have a question to pose of you all out there. Port forwarding, do you do it?
shaftman
nope. hate it. kill it. dont want it. suck it. damn it. port forwarding, has been nothing but a pain for me. so i either open a DMZ on my router (which i dont really like doing) or just use hamachi. hamachi has solved any port forwarding issues, ergo, no need to port forward! xdeathsbloodx
I do realize that Hamachi does the port forwarding for you however some of us (cause more than just me has had to have this issue) cannot install Hamachi without going into their registry keys and modifying them, which is not something I'm at all interested in doing because 1 false move and bam, dead computer
smozoma
the secret sauce to port forwarding is also setting your computer to have a static ip address: http://portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm Edited March 13, 2009 by smozoma
shaftman
The fact that you need to mess with the registry to install hamachi baffles me. why do you need to do so?
xdeathsbloodx
because it for some reason doesn't put in the "Hamachi network connection" that its supposed to when it installs, and to make it do so the fix is to change some registry key but as i said im not going near them, already had my laptop semi-crash once before oh and yes, i also use a static IP on my router Edited March 13, 2009 by xdeathsbloodx
