  1. Figure I've been using this resource long enough over the past year and a half that I should start sharing some work. While I've been concurrently working on mods of all of the Genesis hockey games produced by EA, [except for Mutant League, but who knows what the future will bring] I haven't revisited this one in about eight months, so I guess it's considered done. Introducing: TRON Turbo Hockey Developed by Kevin Flynn Published by ENCOM Annexed 9/22 by E. Dillinger Features: Based on EA Hockey (1991) for PAL regions. The "Turbo mode" is achieved by playing the game on NTSC settings. The cool part is that playing the 50 Hz game on a 60 Hz setting not only increases the frame rate by 20%, but it also affects the physics in a way where players are faster, shots harder and body checks more brutal. [There may, will be more fights if you are as addicted to that C button as I am] "Awesome" '80s computer aesthetics. Full of futuristic grids and computer font goodness. TRON style game grid and player uniforms. Not the most contrasting, but it fits the style and can be followed well enough. Team names started with Alpha and Beta because, you know, programming, and just kind of stuck with the Greek alphabet motif throughout the modding process. Might change it if a better idea comes up, but it seems to fit. [Also I just really liked Team (Kenny) Omega]. UPDATE 2: This update includes forth option for period lengths unlocked, updated bench player sprites and updated "off-screen player pointer" and "active player stars" in addition to a couple other sprite fixes for in-game and presentation assets that I didn't know how to correct at the time I released the original. As well as the edit that allows teams #25 and #26 [the former All-Star teams] to be used in Playoff mode. TRON Hockey v1.2.bin

  3. Hello, here is an actual version of the Swiss National League, due to a collaboration between Iron @Jkline3 and myself. I was responsible for the rosters (which are reflecting those of mid-december) and player cards, @Jkline3did all the rest. I would like to thank him, as he acted like a real Santa Claus once again. All teams of the first and second top swiss leagues are in, which is something historical for our beloved NHL 94. Joe Thornton, David Desharnais, Gaetan Haas, Charles Hudon, Mikkel Boedker, Damien Brunner, Tim Heed, Erik Brannstrom, Viktor Stalberg, Mark Barberio, Denis Malgin, etc, are some of the players featured in this rom. 5. Hello again, it's world juniors time in Lake Louise, Canada (nicest big lake closest to Edmonton and Red Deer). The graphics and presentation, splash screens etc is from Seamor. What I have done is rosters and uniforms and team names. 6 teams of 9 forwards and a goalie that represent as much as I can the present junior tourney. Yes I know 4 teams are missing because of time restraints and also out of interest so I focused once again on the pretenders to the championship. If anyone wants to tune the lineups, rosters and/or anything else, please use the NOSE software and perhaps post the resulted rom here. Hope you enjoy it and Happy new year!!! 6. NHL Pond Hockey v1.0.bin v1.0 posted 12/7/20 Features Outdoor hockey! Most things have been snow-ified (is that a word?), and the rink itself has an outdoor design to it. The gameplay is 4 on 4, just to give it more of a spacious, pond hockey feel. There are no locked positions, so feel free to load your line-up with defensemen or forwards. Every NHL team has 12 skaters, 1 goalie, and retro style graphics. Players were picked on mostly skill basis, but some fan favorites snuck in. Sudden Death is back again. 32nd team is the "Durham Bombers". It's just myself, family, and friends, along with a few Actua Ice Hockey 2 style knockoffs of active NHLers. They're almost entirely a sub-50 overall team, so they exist to provide a bit more of a challenge in solo play. This was originally a companion ROM to another I was planning on doing where you play with them through various tournaments and upgrade the line-up over time, I just don't have the time or energy to really do that justice right now. Probably in a few weeks. Thank you to... @TheTome's Ball Hockey ROM served as the inspiration and a working reference for this, I don't know if he's around anymore, but it was helpful nonetheless! @slapshot67 and @smozoma answered a lot of my dumb questions along the way. @Sauce's 32-team ROM was again my working base for ratings here. A few changes for arcadey-ness, team balancing, and players I thought deserved (or didn't deserve) a bump. Known Bugs Player cards will not open on account of Winnipeg Freeze Bug fix that was used to set up the game. The kid who bangs on the glass is still in the game. I cannot find his sprite for the life of me. One of the referee pop-ups looks like the abominable snowman. Don't play with penalties on. I just didn't set up PP and PK lines, since I really don't like them that much (and who the hell calls penalties in pond hockey?). Plans Moving Forward Fix any issues that people point out to me moving forward. Try to create a solo campaign ROM by January. Make a roller hockey version of both ROMs when spring/summer comes around (perhaps 3 on 3 just to differentiate). Yearly updates could be fun (especially once Seattle comes around).

  9. OK I am on a roll here, xmas is not that boring but I got the time to do something that was never done before here. A rom on the USA-Canada Rivalry for Ladies. Only 2 teams needed. 3 on 3 madness 9 skaters and a goalie for 3 lines per team. All the star ladies are here. I wonder why it has never been done before that's why I have done it. For one, it is hockey and two, the rivalry is ferocious and thus fun to watch. Hope you like it. Ladies on the pond.bin

  10. pretty boring confined xmas eve so I turn the heat a bit and created another variation of Seamor's fantastic outdoor rom. This time is the Worlds on the pond. 3 on 3 action with the 6 countries contenders for the world's supremacy (you know who they are)based on Quanthockey.com's all time points leader per country. Couple of notes: -Went for Marty instead of Roy in canada's goal -Choose Tretiak because he's the greatest russian goaler ever. -Put Jim Craig for US as he helped to get the 1980 olympic US gold - I only did the rosters, uniforms and team names...the rest is Seamor's great rom work. Once again, if you want to change the rosters, use NOSE, the ea utility. If you want to change centre ice logos and team logos for the rom, please feel free to do wso and perhaps post your results for either case right here. It is so fun to have a real outdoor rom. Thanks again Seamor! Worlds on the pond.bin

  11. hey there, These are variants of the rom made by Seamor and all the graphics is from him. Thank you Seamor to allow me to do variants as a Xmas present from me to all the nhl 94 community. Still 4 on 4 hockey. NHL Legends on the pond and for those habs fans out there, Le Canadien sur le lac\ Habs on the pond. NHL legends is complete with the top 50 players that ever played in the NHL. 8 teams of 6 players plus the top 8 goalers ever. For the Canadiens all the greats are here and some alumnis....( yeah, I know why Dave Morissette but then again why not?) All of these can be subject to debate of course. I only did my best and wanted to share this with the community. If you wanna change the lineups, players, do like me. I picked up NOSE four months ago and it changed the way I play, mod and see the game. It can do anything except I wish they could do graphics because I really sucked at that and I am not patient on how to do it. So if you wanna change something, graphics or rosters, you can do it, if of course Seamor agrees and perhaps post an improved version here. Happy XMas to all the nhl 94 community and let's hope for a better safer 2021 Le Canadien sur le lac.bin NHL Legends on the pond.bin

  12. I know what you're thinking. "But... why?" And the answer is: Because it was there, I guess. And besides, we have enough guys doing such great work on the 94 ROMs. I got to find some way to contribute. The Swedish Elitserien games always intrigued me, and since my modding experiences the previous month was almost exclusively research, spreadsheet and data entry based, I figured I can tackle something quick and easy. Like a translation mod. Mostly I'm interested in exploiting the 12-team, 44-game season in '95 for a GM-mode hockey pool, but I needed the menus to be in English first. With that out of the way, it's also a difference from the originals that is well suited to Olympic, World Championships and some Euro leagues. So, look forward to that some time. For now, I figured I can share the translated versions. The caveat being that due to some changes in the code when when Neurostone converted it, I wasn't able to make the translations 100% accurate to the NHL games. So I had some fun with it in a google translate sort of way, while also having to get creative with some text to avoid breaking the code. Some before and after. 14. Great work. I feel I missed the reference on not Ron Barr, but it's funny nonetheless. although... since it's pond hockey, might I offer this? I may have been inspired to edit this into the NHA 1910 ROM from... I want to say Coach Mac made it?

  15. Clearing out another older one. Not sure how much interest this one will garner, but here's an idea I had when I saw the 32 team NHLPA'93 ROM. The back story: The old professional Western Hockey League [1952-1974] evolved from the third incarnation of the Pacific Coast Hockey League. They competed for the Lester Patrick Cup and were considered the west coast's version of the AHL. [although basically treated as a step below by the NHL] They were a place to play for guys on the way up [Glenn Hall], guys "past their prime" [Andy Bathgate], guys who were stars out west, but had varying degrees of luck cracking NHL lineups in the Original 6 days [Andy Hebenton, Guyle Fielder or if you prefer, Don Cherry, who won a championship with Vancouver]. They even partnered up with the first [successful] pro-hockey player's union. Anyway, the hope was to one day turn into a major pro league, possibly even revive the East/West competition for the Stanley Cup like up until 1926. These hopes were dashed as Los Angeles, San Francisco and later Vancouver jumped to the NHL, the WHA raided their players [and later took on the Phoenix and Denver teams] and the league was eventually forced to throw in the towel. But what if they didn't? What if the NHL took the WHA threat more seriously and formed a better partnership with the WHL? This is the result of that thought experiment. Mostly I just rearranged the playoff team brackets and added the lore to the pre-game. WHLvsNHL19.bin

  17. Evening all I have been tidying up my Genesis Mini cover art today and figured that I would plough through some of the "classic" ROMs on the forum. This thread includes all of the covers that I have prepared for myself and some of you might be interested in them. Due to the way in which some of the ROMs are named here, I was not sure whether, for instance, an "NHL '71" ROM covers (a) the 1970-71 season or (b) the 1971-72 season. I have opted for (a) and included an extra cover either side of the 1980 and 1990 decades to cover off (b) if my hunch was wrong. The images used (save for the Slap Show, 2-on-2 and 2019-20 ROMs) are from the Stanley Cup celebrations for the relevant season. I have tried to ensure that the correct photos are used for the relevant year (i.e. for the 1971-72 season, the photo is from the 1972 SC Final not the 1970-71 SCF that preceded the season) but let me know if you spot any howlers. These 1970s and 1980s covers are for the ROMs that @slapshot67 prepared ages ago and that can be found here. The 2-on-2 ROM covers are for the ROMs referenced in @kingraph's thread here. The 2019-20 season ROM cover is for @Sauce's ROM, which can be found here. Apologies if I have missed anyone out. I know that the feathering is not entirely consistent across the covers. This is a by-product (mostly) of the quality of the images and the space between the top of the section of the image that I wanted to use and the top of the image itself (to avoid straight lines showing on the image). That said, I am happy with how everything looks as it is but might tweak them slightly in the future if I find myself bored senseless in the house! UPDATE 14.09.29 - I found a quick way to redo the covers with a broadly consistent approach to feathering. The updated versions are below. I have included the original images and have not resized them, as I appreciate that people use different emulator builds etc. Anyway, hope some of you manage to find a use for the covers. As I get around to sorting covers for other ROMs, I will add them to this thread.
