  1. if somebody could put up links to such gear, that'd be great. I have trouble navigating the instructions of emulator setup, so direct links are very helpful. if it isn't appropriate for this board, a PM would be sweet. thanks!
  2. wow! that guy is a rambling idiot! keep touching your fingertips to your face, pal; the zits will be there soon enough. glad I don't play in your online drama league.
  3. did the one-timers only thing and managed to lose one game (as New York; I forget who to, it was last week) in the playoffs. so, one out of seventeen is okay. next time, a shittier team.
  4. [edit: anybody except Jeff; he'd probably throw the controller and cry]
  5. to the original poster: you can have penalty shots with the penalties off. oh, and there is a difference between auto and regular line changes. in auto, fatigue is not a factor.
  6. my new thing is: seven-game playoff rounds 5 minute periods penalties on line changes on unedited lines only shooting with one-timers. was beating "Bufaffalo" by one goal per game (as the Rangers) until the game froze on an offside one-timer. replacing the cartridge and trying again.
  7. two questions:1. what cartridge; a hack or are you saying your personal copy seems to be harder than others? 2. is one on five something you can do with Genesis cartridge NHL '94? that'd be a reason to play it, I guess.
  8. have: Atari 2600, NES, Genesis, SNES, PS (multiple), N64, Game Boy Color, PS2. Genesis: NHL '92, NHL '93, NHL '94 (multiple), NHL '95, NHL '96, NHL '97, NHL '98. SNES: NHLPA '93, NHL '94 (multiple), NHL '95, NHL '96, NHL '97, NHL '98. come to Boston and play!
  9. right?! my NHLers are all over the place and not within an hour of me, so I need new competition. why aren't any of y'all in Boston?!
  10. I pull the goalie when I'm going for record goals. the sixth skater helps a little bit, but the quick goal in my defensive end brings a quick faceoff and saves time for my next goal. I can routinely get over one hundred goals with my goalie pulled. they end up scoring like twenty or thirty against me.and, to your point, yes, it's possible to lose with scrubs and a pulled goalie. not much fun, but it is possible to lose.
  11. so I play with Calgary, sub in the scrubs (Reese included) and only shoot with Greg Smyth (29 rating overall) and I still shut them (whomever, Allstar teams included) out by huge numbers. one time, Bure scored on me, so it was like 9-1. I need live players because the computer sucks.
  12. Alexei, not Alexi, though of late he's just Alex Kovalev.
  13. have you won the cup scoring only with Greg Smyth?
  14. they kind of suck, because they only change the sounds (there are no gameplay changes). 15. happens occasionally. might be a misaligned cartridge. does this ever happen with the ROMs?
  16. well, then he is a chump I'd love to play. there is nothing cheap about a cut-across on SNES; just f u c k i n g save it! pretty easy. I'd do this all the time if he's not going to make a save attempt. you aren't going to score any of those on me.
  17. I finally understand the problem about the "flaw" or the "cheap goal." the only people who complain about this are the Genesissies. I forgot, for a while, about the problem with the Genesis version: the twenty-second delay before the goalie is activated. you have to press and hold a button combo (I really don't care which ones; f u c k Genesis) and wait for the goalie to become the active player. this allows the other player time enough to skate down to your end of the ice, go against the boards, cut across the goal and score. you finally have the goalie activated in time to watch the puck bulge the twine. lame. SNES is the answer here, folks; nothing is cheap, everything can be saved. good luck with your Genesis. hehe.
  18. I try to put all goons and chumps and stiffs in, pull my goalie, play against the all-star teams... ...but I can't seem to lose to the computer. anybody have "success" in this quest?
  19. ....Greg Smyth. a whopping 28ish (the GENS booklet is a typo) overall rating.
  20. anybody local to Bahstin? SNES battle?
  21. when playing as Boston, I pull Moog and Sweeney for Blue and Wesley (neither a huge upgrade, but preferences, both). I also like Jimmy Carson (not sure how that got into this thread....).
