  1. I think I can tweak that format a little bit. You have three tiers of player, and in every month, each player has to play against the other players in that grouping. Tier A - The elite of the elite play in this group. Last place takes on Tier B's 1st placed player in a relegation series (best of 7). Players are expected to have no trouble beating players from the lowest division, and should be able to beat the middle group. Penalty points can be had for losing to either group, moreso for losing to Tier C, thus encouraging Tier A players not to pack it in if they play against the lower groups. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tier B - Middle-group of players. Not quite elite yet, but no pushovers here either. Last place takes on Tier C's 1st placed player in a relegation series (best of 7). Players are expected not to lose too often to Tier C. No penalties for losing to that group once or twice. If a player in this group loses to players from the bottom level 3 or more times, then penalty points will be accrued. No penalty for losing against Tier A players. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tier C - Rookies, low-rung veterans, and overall bad players play here. The top spot in the group is what everyone's shooting for, and a chance to potentially be in the 2nd division next month. No penalties for losing to Tier A or Tier B opposition. Bonus points for defeating them, especially if a Tier C player knocks off a Tier A player. There is no relegation, so there is little to no pressure on the rookies to do good to stay in the group. There is also no limit as to how many rookies can join up in this grouping. That's just how I see it...that way, the rookies and poor players won't get embarassed unless they WANT to get embarassed.
  2. Which system would this be for? Gens or SNES? Either way, I'd be interested. Make sure your streak counter can go into the three-figures, since I'm so bad you'll need it
  3. Philadelphia - Devils v. Flyers Hershey - Several Hershey Bears AHL games IN JANUARY: Manhattan - Bruins v. Rangers
  4. The predictions were meant to motivate, not insult Good to see you're good natured about it, smozoma
  5. Bolded Teams are Playoff Teams wboy Division EricAnthony76 angryjay93 Logan KingsCupRun93 DaDonch44 SSiG Division Analysis EA, Angryjay, and Logan should be able to put a nice gap between themselves and the rest of the division by mid-season. KCR will chop into it late, but it won't be enough. DaDonch44 and SSiG will be fighting it out to avoid the cellar, with Donchy coming out on top of that one thanks to a better head to head mark (they finish tied in points). Dallongeville Division HABS Scribe99 Vocally Caged newjerseykiller awesomerino edisaurusrex Division Analysis No offense to edisaurusrex, but the talent in this division is just way too much. The battle for the division title will go well into the home stretch, but expect Habs to win the games when it counts most. Scribe should be able to hold down 2nd, with Vocally Caged finishing 3rd. Newjerseykiller will get a playoff spot as well, as will GDL rookie awesomerino, who will be able to tie down the final playoff spot with some late season wins to hold off KCR93 and DaDonch44. It'll be a battle between SSiG and edisaurusrex to avoid the conference cellar...but some late wins for SSiG should be able to secure only minor embarassment. --------------------------------------- Mark Lesser Conference Dmitry Division kgman thegr8199kings skoolyardpuck Matt Hurray Jamonica hokkeefan Division Analysis With Mogilny and Smith, I could have put hokkeefan in the playoffs...now, not so much. While Gilmour will be good, Al Iafrate's hard slapper will not be able to help enough. kgman wins 40 in a row to start the season, clinches the division before his clash w/SSiG, which turns out to be the biggest upset in NHL94.com history. gr8199 finishes a distant 2nd in the division, with skoolyardpuck and Matt Hurray tying down playoff spots. Jamonica is a quality player, and in the other conference, he'd probably be the #3 or #4 seed...but this conference and division is loaded with talent, so I see him just missing out. Evan Division backhandfloater Carse takeyourpill IceStorm70 dmac smozoma Division Analysis The Evan Division will be highly-contested down the stretch, with bhf and Carse going neck and neck until the very end. You could swap both of their final positions and not go wrong. Takeyourpill could get a playoff spot, but questions about how many games he'll be able to complete will arise often. Another GDL rookie, IceStorm70, will be able to get the final playoff spot with some key wins down the stretch. Dmac and smozoma could easily make this division a fight for the bottom 4 playoff spots, but I'm going to be bold and keep them out for now...kinda' because I'm too lazy to re-write this entire thread Discuss...since there will be disagreements with my predictions DISCLAIMER: The preceding is in character, and does not necessarily reflect the opinions of DaDonch44, SSiG, or the rest of the GDL.
  6. Yes Hullie, that would be it. Now that you've seen it, I now withdraw it for consideration as best avatar on the boards
  7. Hit me up later tonight, Andy...I'll give you a game. AIM: Magus978
  8. I have an avatar that might be interesting, but it might be just a bit too lude for this site. It's one of Mario spanking Princess Toadstool for 1up's
  9. Quoted for emphasis. It's not really about how the game looks, it's about how the game PLAYS. We all sometimes forget this huge thing... GRAPHICS DON'T MAKE THE GAME!!!
  10. We have 24 teams, 21 have voted...56 games has clinched the vote.
  11. None of the above. Use Ron Barr's head as a player indicator
  12. The crease doesn't really matter when it comes to gameplay, and that is my concern. I say just leave it the way it is. Less work for you
  13. I say 56, and I agree with EA. If we can keep the coach casualties to a minimum, we go up to 68 next season You know as bad as I am against the elite players, I'll hang around this season. Commitment is a strong thing
  14. Line 1 C - Sergei Fedorov RW - Brian Bellows LW - Cam Neely RD - Zarley Zalapski LD - James Patrick Extra Man: Frank Musil Line 2 C - Darren Turcotte RW - Chris Kontos LW - Michel Goulet RD - Frank Musil LD - Kevin Dahl Extra Man: Sergei Fedorov Goalies 1. Felix Potvin 2. Arturs Irbe

  17. Donchy wins best reply of the day
  18. ...well, not really I'm gonna put a bit of a spin on the playoff matchups. *Matchups are as if the season ended today* Eastern Conference #1 Buffalo Sabres (Blackrock) v. #4 Quebec Nordiques (Brent) Previous Matchups *Home team in CAPS* BUFFALO 5, Quebec 1 Buffalo 3, QUEBEC 2 (OT) Brent is 3-13 since taking over for the inactive Tfultano18. He got the Nordiques into the playoffs with wins over Tampa Bay, Montreal, and Detroit. He'll have it all to do though against the Sabres, who under coach Blackrock, have the D-League's 2nd best offense, and finished the regular season going 17-3 and running away with the regular season title in the East. While I personally think Brent can steal a game at home, the offensive power of the Sabres will be just a bit too much. Prediction: Sabres in 5 #2 New York Rangers (SSiG) v. #3 Tampa Bay Lightning (Dexture) Previous Matchups NY Rangers 7, TAMPA BAY 1 NY RANGERS 9, Tampa Bay 3 The Rangers enter the playoffs having won their final five games to finish at .500, 10-10-0. One of those wins down the stretch was a convincing 9-3 win over Tampa Bay in their finale. New York's record could be so much better, as all 20 of their games were competitive matchups. Tampa Bay on the other hand, basically made the playoffs by default, as the bottom tier of the East (record-wise) was dreadful. Their marquee win was a 6-5 upset in OT against the West's top seed, Pittsburgh. They still have two games to go against St. Louis, and the way they play in those games could be a factor in how they play against the Rangers. Even with that, the Rangers should be able to sweep, or at least turn away a good effort by Tampa Bay. Prediction: Rangers in 4 Western Conference #1 Pittsburgh Penguins (sungod661) v. #4 Detroit Red Wings (DaveHanson) Previous Matchups PITTSBURGH 2, Detroit 1 DETROIT 4, Pittsburgh 1 Despite having the best offense in Gens D (76 scored), Sungod's Penguins showed some defensive inadequacies, giving up 51 goals in the very competitive Western Conference, only good for a +25 goal difference. This matchup might change, since St. Louis still has 4 games to go and can win out for a playoff spot, but as is...Detroit could very well pull off the upset. They could beat them at home, but the Penguins have the home ice. This series will be VERY competitive, but I expect the Penguins to escape because they seem to have the better offense. Prediction: Penguins in 7 #2 Los Angeles Kings (awesomerino) v. #3 Chicago Blackhawks (goldsac) Previous Matchups CHICAGO 3, Los Angeles 1 Chicago 2, LOS ANGELES 0 Los Angeles 4, CHICAGO 0 Home ice could swap with just one point by the Blackhawks. Consider that the Blackhawks were able to win at home, and on the road. That will give them a definite advantage in this series, but it will come down to who is able to use their superstars best. In awesomerino's case, he'll need to dominate the scoring with Gretzky and Robitalle, and in goldsac's case, Jeremy Roenick, Chris Chelios, and Ed "The Eagle" Belfour will be vital to a victory. However, I just believe that the Kings will be able to pull out a victory. Call it a hunch or something... Prediction: Kings in 7 Eastern Conference Finals #1 Buffalo Sabres (blackrock) v. #2 New York Rangers (SSiG) Previous Matchups NY Rangers 2, BUFFALO 1 Buffalo 2, NY RANGERS 1 (OT) BUFFALO 2, NY Rangers 1 All three games between these two quality teams were 2-1 defensive wars. This will essentially be a first-to-3 scenario in each game. Blackrock's Sabres play wonderful defense, but the Rangers are always a threat to score with the speed of Gartner, and the slapper of Esa Tikkanen. It would not be surprising to see either team win. Buffalo has not played an important game since they won the division, and after probably cruising in the East semis, they will be put to the ultimate test here. This one's going 7 games. Whoever can come up big in the big spot in that 7th game will win, and it is the opinion of this reporter that the Rangers, with a triple-threat attack of Messier, Gartner, and Tikkanen, with offensive defensemen Leetch and Patrick, have the best chance to do it. Prediction: Greatest series in Classic '94 League History! Rangers in 7 Western Conference Finals #1 Pittsburgh Penguins (sungod661) v. #2 Los Angeles Kings (awesomerino) Previous Matchups Pittsburgh 5, LOS ANGELES 2 PITTSBURGH 4, Los Angeles 3 LOS ANGELES 4, Pittsburgh 1 Again, another case where the favorite is the one who has proven that they could win at home and on the road. It's going to be another exciting series, but the Kings' minor inadequacies on defense might come back to haunt them. Both teams only gave up 51 goals on the season, but the trick will be not to give up the goals in bunches. Despite this, I'm going to go out on a limb and send Gretzky and the Kelly Hrudey clones to the Gens D finals. Prediction: Kings in 7 Gens D Finals Los Angeles Kings (awesomerino) v. New York Rangers (SSiG) Previous Matchups Los Angeles 7, NY RANGERS 6 LOS ANGELES 6, NY Rangers 4 Both teams played with an incredible amount of anger in their last two games against each other, after some derogatory comments by SSiG. They have since made peace. However, there will be so much on the line in this series that tensions might grow again. It will be up to both players to not let tempers get the best of them, and to play smart. Since these two score-fests, the Rangers have tightened up on defense considerably. The key to each game would be to put the Rangers in an early hole, as they are not as able to climb out of deficits as the rest of the league. If the Kings can score first and put the Rangers on the hot seat, the Blueshirts will not recover in time. Your Gens D champions: Kings in 6 Feel free to debate these predictions...hate will not be tolerated, as I will rule over this thread like Stalin and not tolerate people who are bad
  19. In the game though, he has pretty good speed, hence why I use him in an offensive capacity. "Meta" Musil must be allowed to show off
  20. Musil Declared God in Jersey, Fans Groan Dilusional, thy name is the New Jersey Devils management. Devils GM/coach Tom Delgado has named Frank Musil captain, and undisputed god of the hockey universe. "He is a strong man, he will crush his opponents. He will be powerful like Stalin, and not tolerate people who are bad" Delgado told reporters after his team's 4-3 OT loss @ Anaheim in a goodwill exhibition, in which Musil led the team in shots on goal with 7. "I wouldn't exactly compare myself to Stalin..." Musil said after hearing of his coach's praise. "I'd compare myself to Nicklas Lidstrom..or whoever said that the square root of 100 was Alligator"
