  1. I'd heard it's just random as long as you hit b any time the puck is dropping. I've heard others say it's valuable to have a turbo button for faceoffs. I don't know. I always get close to 50% in all my games, even against guys like Plabax, who I would assume has mastered any edge you can gain. My theory is always been it's like ROCK/PAPER/SCISSORS. If you are pulling straight back, and I'm pulling left w/ a right handed guy, I win. If you are pulling back & I'm pushing right w/ a righty, you win. That type of combo. I find WHO is doing the faceoff to be meaningless, as good puck control/passing/etc or low hasn't raised or lowered my success/odds. IN NHL15 (same EA only 20 something years later), these rules seem to apply still, minus the upgraded stat for faceoff being added. I would imagine someone looked at the code by now???
  2. Great season, great playoffs guys. Let's get those SEMI-FINALS loaded up or simmed and loaded so we can get to the FINALS.
  3. Hartford has managed to get in 16 games thanks to Plabber, Raph, Robro & last night Donny. Still need to get my games in with Ice, Depch, Zalex, Kupuck, Sicarius & the dick. Won't be around tonight, but early Sunday and late Sunday I will be. Send me a message on AIM or PM here if you have a time slot you know you will be around and we can try to make it work.
  4. When you hit play, the CC option appears in the menu bar below the player, click it & the subtitles populate in. Very entertaining.
  5. Brutus & Raph are an easy connect. I was hoping to test my team prior to finalize the ROM in case it is a total flop. Controversial GM choice to put ZERO's on both Passing & Offensive Awareness attributes. BUT F-IT. Game on. The art of the solo man's goal coming up. That, and hopefully shutting down the scoring against us! (We also got some SNES games to knock out too Rapher when we do connect.)
  6. It's actually an errant pass that hits the ice boards. This happens even on 5v5. If your goalie goes all goofy & passes the puck against the wall, you are stuck w/ him until a face off or you re-gain control of the puck. For me, it's usually after I give up a goal, as you are stuck on the goalie, but not on the screen location.
  7. Donny, I have the shits so my time has been limited to the crapper, but after this next flush, I promise, I'll get my edits in! LOL.
  8. I've been around late, but not late enough for the Eastern boys, and apparently too early for the NA crew. I'll be around LATE tonight & again LATE tomorrow night (post 11 pm US Central). If not, I'm off Wednesday. Maybe try to schedule a time you can be around via the forum message, or leave me message on AIM. Minus Probob & Depch, I haven't had any one reach out to me for games from Blitz A.
  9. I'll try to be on late tonight to grab a series or two vs someone if any one pops on late tonight. Hokkee's disaster is hilarious to play with, because it's not just slow, it's low puck control and even lower passing ratings which make for some great non-one-timer moments! Of course, it's a Hokkee team, so its super heavy, and it can take a minute for an opponent to adapt to while playing. I was able to steal one from probob and keep Raph from his double digit mashing scores, and held him to 4.5 goals per game for our series, below his league average 5.70 coming into our series (now at 5.33). Hop on, get your team's skulls cracked open but probably get 3-4 wins , and probably watch Probert try to kick a goal or two in.
  10. It'll be Friday night. Usually hard to get NHL94 games in . I'll be around after 11 pm central, maybe a hair later. Try to get on & knock out our SNES games if you can. Also, anyone else from SNES can look for me as well.
  11. I noticed a difference in several of the guys I was playing 5v5 last year after they had been playing 2v2. Particularly on the break aways & witty upgraded the most. Maybe those dudes were practicing on the side too, but is be stunned if those stoners ever practiced anything! I credit their 2v2'ing.
  12. The C checking whore that I am usually would end up with a sore joystick thumb after playing 2 on 2, as I'm like a rabid dog chasing my tail, and just can't stop!!! I do think that playing 2v2 definitely develops your offense w/ pass shots & the like. I used to play from time to time, but around the time you queers started playing Hexball, I stopped checking in on it
  13. Brutus/Boston: For those looking, I'm usually on after hours. I'm US Central, usually on after 11 pm till around 1 am, sometimes through till 2 am.
  14. I've got my TDL series w/ Kupuck tonight scheduled. When that's done, I'll try to message on AIM Blitz, and see if there is anyone to get some of these games in with. More than likely pushing it past midnight US Central time for those wanting to check in.
  15. A cool wrinkle might be to have edits of your ratings allowed between rounds, especially after the first round. PS I think someone would have to help Northway use google docs though (I'm questioning the subliminal message tones there in Chicago's team)
  16. Seems Chicago has a subliminal message in their team's ratings. Very tricky.
  17. ? about the 45 points. Looking at the google doc Jer has created (I changed my name to the Sharks on that sheet), I took the time to make a quick team of 45 points. It requires 0 points on some attributes. Is this even possible in the editor (I can't check, at work)? But, he lists these attributes as being ones you put points on. AGILITY, SPEED, OFA, DFA, SHP, CHK, STH, SHA, Roughness, PASS, Aggression. So, if I can't do 0, do I have to have Roughness count towards the 45 points?
  18. I read this post completely wrong. I thought you were adding 45 points ONTO existing players of your choice. And existing weight was being used. So, I was taking the heavy Penguins & looking forward to using Caufield. That said, if we are all gonna have 100 weight points and 45 points per player, existing weight & skill is irrelevant. Might as well change teams to something different. I'll switch my choice to the Sharks.
  19. I can attest how mentally frustrating it can be to have to go up against the top top guys, especially when they seem to have that fire in their bellies that night, and you can just smell that 12-1 beat down. It's hard to take some nights. Dicion has clearly stated he doesn't like playing the top tier games, and always opted for B in the past. The irony then is he pummels some lower B guy into the same experience he was trying to avoid. Also, in fairness to Dicion, we were NOT told the format until after we had committed. HOWEVER, if you were going to QUIT, the time would be before you selected your team and knew you'd have to play Raph w/ Hartford, NOT after you selected them, joined the league, played 2/3rd's a game. That said, quitting a league game to me is terms for removal. It's something only the bottom feeders do/have done. On that, it's hard to defend a guy.
  20. I've not heard directly from hokkee & have reached out. Minus one post stating he was going to be back by last Friday, it's been too long to remember. Minny came out of retirement last night & crushed my soul in a late night blitz series, so maybe jer. & him might have luck tonight or tomorrow.
  21. Brutus & Hull absolutely choke the living crap out of that season ending, losing the last 4 to Minpind. His goons beat up my goons, to sum up up bluntly. I couldn't get any mojo going around the net against Cujo. Messier & Stevens > than McSorley & Hatcher in that department. Good series Minny, hope you are pounding Probob as I type this.
  22. I'd be willing to sub temporarily for hokkee if it saved his team while he recoups. But I'd do it as a last resort. But a guy willing to relinquish the reigns the day he returns might be best type option for him, since he posted he's coming back. Let me know if you need that.
