  1. For the record, looking at the votes right now, picking 2 minutes because it has the most votes wouldn't exactly be right. 3 and 4 minutes should almost be counted together, as clearly the people choosing those ones want a longer than usual penalty
  2. As long as BHF doesn't get JR. In that case we need to create a third division for him, by himself. Top team in it makes playoffs. Also, i'm completely agaisnt doing away with conferences. I find it much more fun to have them so that we have conference and division races going on.
  3. I've played a full season with Tampa Bay agaisnt the AI. Trust me, a season mode isn't a usefull feature. I didn't lose a game.
  4. I say expand for 1 or 2 coaches at the MOST. We can't expand so large that the talent pool becomes too small.
  5. I'm a bit torn. On one hand I would prefer it out, but on the other hand, the duplicates aren't really that good anyways. I'm going to have to go with my gut and say no on this one.
  6. Crap, I feel like my post might me misinterpreted. I meant he deserved it for all the hard work he put in to get these playoffs in. He deserved the win for that kind of determination.
  7. Execelent, the way I wanted this season to end. Congradulations EA, we all know you deserved it.
  8. Yes, but do IP checks as well. Anyone caught playing with an alias is instantly booted out.
  9. Returning coach, and i'd like to take over Quebec.
  10. I voted 4 minutes personally, but 3 minutes would be okay for me. I deffinetly think a longer penalty should be given. I'd almost prefer 3 because the periods are only 5, but 4 would add some interesting gameplay. Adds a bit more depth to the game when you have to kill a penalty for that amount of time.
  11. Despite being in a very physical hockey league, i've avoided injury for a long time. The worst one i've gotten was thought to be a serious injury to the shoulder, but it turned out it was a small sprain to a joint and I was cleared to go in a week. I'm suprisingly injury resilient. I've gotten stiched to my head 7 times from various accidents, one hockey related (playing without a helmet, slashed in the top of the head (accidental, thankfully) ) but none have caused any long term or even short term damage. A trip to the hospital, and I'd be back on the field or on the ice as soon as I got back. Basically i'm invincible .
  12. I love SSiGs idea. Getting the cup without playing for it is just no good.
  13. True. I'd serious recommend upgrading to a 360 or PS3, but I can see how cost can be an issue. 08 on those two are much, much better than their last-gen counterparts.
  14. Avoid the PS2, XBOX and PC versions like the plague Dmac. If last year is any indication, those are NOTHING like the 360 and PS3 versions. Example. NHL 07 on difficult on the 360, games are close and I lose quite a bit. NHL 07 on difficult on the original xbox, I win 15-2. The AI is terrible and the goalies can be deked out insanely easily.
  15. I'd be in, as my 360 gets here in 2-4 weeks. I have borrowed a friends, and have been playing my copy of 08 like mad. I have to say, EA has made a fantastic game. Dare I say it, it's better than 94 in the sense that it's very realistic. The AI is great, I have the Leafs in dynasty mode, and although i'm something like 18-5-1, EVERY game has been insanely close.
  16. I don't know what you guys are on about, I like the way hockey is right now. The games don't need to be high scoring for them to be exciting. Hell, look at soccer. The games are longer and even more low scoring, and the fan base is insane. Goalies equipment is fine, net size is fine, everything is fine. I love watching hockey the way it is.
  17. Thanks. Luckily the All Stars seemed to be having trouble with raising the puck at some glorious chances. Yeah, he was basically Hasek.
  18. I started up a game in SNES, playing as Detroit vs All Stars. The way I was playing, I was taking control of the goalie whenever they got control of the puck on my half of the ice, and making at least 5 passes before shooting. After 3 hard periods, the score was deadlocked at 2-2, and overtime bagan. With the game on the line, Cheveldae is all that stands between 3 All Stars breaking in and the net. The save he makes there is the first of many... Tim Cheveldae - Unstoppable Tim Cheveldae saved 32 shots in the first 3 periods, allowing only two goals. In overtime, he made 22 saves, 21-ish of which are show on the video. Chevy showed his resilience by making desperation saves left and right. Yzerman eventually potted the winner off of a nice setup by Federov. Just to recap, Tim Cheveldae had 54 saves on 56 shots for a 96.4 save percentage. Most of the saves in regulation were standard saves, with the occaisional dive. However, Overtime was basically ALL diving saves. The only ones that weren't were usually the initial shot, then Chevy would make the dive on the rebound. EDIT - If you're wondering why some saves were on bottom of screen, some on top, it's because there was two overtime periods
  19. And so it begins. Let's hope KGMan shows sooner rather than later.
  20. SNES link is broken, but these are some very nice ROMs. Congrats and thanks .
  21. No goals are cheesy, you can stop every one of them very easily. Also, it's a competition, so of course people are in it to win. Just keep playing and improve.
  22. Alright alright, 5 for fighting for both of you.
  23. Well said. Jewish is one hell of a player, don't let the record fool you. I think the biggest problem for him was adjusting to Montreal, which isn't the best fit for a player of his style, but I can see him rebounding into a decent spot in the standings. Best of luck to you Jewish.
  24. This just in: Gretzky comes out of retirement to pay for Phoenix. Who will coach them you ask? Mario Lemieux!
