  1. well, I disagree that I ruined anything and I have been trying to keep that stuff here, where it is not interfering, so the timing of this new policy toward me is, uh, weird. I'll be cool and hopefully y'all will see that I'm a good and helpful person... a benefit, a benefactor. thanks for the discussion, guys. I offended another moderator in a private message, due mostly to his twisting my words and intent to something very different. he has blocked me. I extended my apologies privately and I extend them again publicly. I felt that I should be able to reach out to the volunteer staff and vent a little and ask questions and have my side be known. I chose the wrong bud at the wrong time, I think. I am sorry for the extra work and stress I have caused anybody here. again, thanks for taking the time to communicate with me -- it's a lot better than seeing my content being removed and being issued demerits over trivial matters. any and ALL members of the community are welcomed to drop by for some games and whatnot, if/when in Maine. this place is freaking huge and you can very seriously stay and play, in large or small groups.
  2. uh-huh. they don't like yours, either. what about our boat?! I'm trying to fix it.
  3. and now it's real, aqua... you get your wish through executive actions made. I have been informed that I am no longer able to post in many sections of this forum. I am trying to get back to second-class membership through deliberate intent to play more nicely every day. now it seems that having these discussions has bumped me down to fourth-class membership. for the first time that I can recall in my decade here, I am actually angered by this change. it seems like revenge for supposed transgressions from many years ago. I am greatly disappointed in this and I have not had it sufficiently explained to me about what it mean in my quest to improve our interactions. I think it is a giant step in the wrong direction, but I look forward to keeping you all updated on if and how I will be allowed to work back toward legitimacy and being accepted by the community as a whole. color me greatly disappointed. I am very honestly trying to be a better friend to you all, but my deck is being stacked by the house. I invite you all to read the "welcome" thread, the ROM hacking threads, the ratings discussions threads -- my whole current profile of posts, even -- and ask if you think I have a net positive or negative effect around here. I wish to allowed to grow into a better member, not boxed out to stunt such growth.
  4. when I switched to a new account, it was with the intent of moving on. I had reached 1994 posts with the old one. (then an old section or a bunch of old posts were lost/deleted, so I logged back into it to get back to that level... then one came back from the void and pushed it to 1995.) I don't think I need another... maybe when I get this one to 1994, which I promise I am in no hurry to do. stop discussing the difference between the systems? uh... no. the Genesis version gets almost all of the discussion, so exploring the other three versions is always done through that lens. I love that there are differences, significantly because they help us understand the ways the games work. if I want to understand how to convert discoveries made in one to related revolutions in the others, I discuss the differences. I try not to be harsh to the games on the inferior ends of comparisons between the versions. I used to think that was fun, with the trashtalk action as part of competitive gaming, but y'all insisted it had no place, so I stepped it way down. now I'm in a category of my own, where I am not supposed to do anything but work on my ROMs? I don't fucking think so. I think it's outrageous that such a suggestion was made with seriousness. I understand that my actions in the first half of my decade here earned me that reaction from other members, but it's all too much. let me talk about league topics -- maybe I'm considering joining one if/when I get a hardwired connection -- for the issues inherent within them translates quite easily into languages used in the things you think I should be regulated to. go back to using the nhl94online message boards for secret discussions not meant for the wider community. I'm here. I belong here. please stop trying to box me out. it is not cool and it devalues the whole place in ways I feel are greater than anything I've ever been accused of. what does a newcomer think when they see that they see this stuff about/at/from a guy who has been trying to play nicely for years? it has to be disheartening. can we turn the corner, yet?
  5. well, now that my current ROM is "done," I'm pretty close to ready. US$40.00 is doable, so if we can make a plan, please let me know. I have forty ducks (quack quack), a ROM, a label image and a set of instruction booklet images.
  6. there have been a couple of update-worthy events. somebody deleted the extra strike against me. thank you. somebody created a member category for my profile and the old one that came before this one. I get that you think that's needed, so I won't ask to have it undone, but if that can be changed to a lowercase 't,' I'd appreciate it. watch your profile subtitle, folks -- if you suddenly become "Tru," you might be in trouble!
  7. updated. missed Nugent-Hopkins on the "best" line, where punctuation like his cannot be. I fixed it, reuploaded the ROM file and tucked the update into the original post. please let me know if you encounter anything else that isn't right.
  8. yeah, both of those goalies are fully serviceable. I was into MacLean for a while, but I kind of grew away form appreciating his skills... or lack thereof. do you think there is a particular aspect of the roster that you have assembled that allowed you to achieve any extra greatness? I love the concept of that league....
  9. oh, wow. so you felt the need to post about it, too! you only congratulated him as an aside. it takes posts like yours to properly hijack a thread. without those, you just freaking move on. I'm sorry, annatar. I really didn't mean to carry their agenda here. so, I assume you are in the camp of "don't worry about your goalie, other positions are much more important." is that correct? personally, I love having a top-end goalie, but I'm not sure if I'd prioritize it over defensemen, or not. I suspect I'd do two forwards, the starting goalie, both decent defensemen and then the third forward, which I would send to the right wing most of the time. there's pretty much no need to have a backup goalie, with their inability to get hurt. do you think you would have had such success if you went with a better goalie over a decent forward or defenseman?
  10. so many embarrassing laughs are contained here. what happened to Minpind? did we do The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Panteleyev, yet?
  11. this is a 2016 playoffs ROM. I have a much-improved overall player rating formula, so I think this is by far the best and most thorough Ninety Flow ROM yet. that typed, I'm sure there is still at least one mistake yet to be corrected. I am always seeking help and comments; if anything at all seems wrong, please report it to me. there is a reward. if you want to see your player more clearly, you can activate the multitap option and use the shadow colors from the other end of the visible spectrum. a post from last season's playoff thread has directions for easily creating alternate versions of this thing with some combinations of the removed player indicators added back. feel free to do any further alterations you want, like other combinations of those indicators or setting up alternate playoffs or two-on-two or adding yourself or whatever. if you do make changes, please share the files. have fun! --- if you don't agree to every term that follows below, don't download a copy. 12. Bo, when a conversation develops, let it be. reread the thread and decide if you really think I needed to be reminded of all of that. your post was totally uncalled for and hijacks the thread more than mine did. sure, now I'm participating, but damn, you could have just left well enough alone. let the original poster or the subject (annatar) make that call. he seems to be engaged in the conversation with me, so how is it your place to decide he shouldn't be? this is exactly the stuff that needs to stop. I have the right to talk to these guys even if you "feel" like they are extending courtesies undeserved. heck, they are SNES guys, so maybe jump all over me the next time I post in one of your precious, secretive, cliquey Genesis league threads, but... aargh. congratulations, again, annatar. I'm not too, too far away, down in Maine, so if you are ever swinging near the town they bottle all of that water in, here, consider dropping by for a game or eighteen. I'll tuck tail now and go away. holler.
  13. oh, did the Genesis '95 have different ratings? the SNES and Genesis '94 ratings were essentially the same. no worries about dropping stats on me, I'm only a little bit curious.
  14. it means something, but yeah, I dig. I now use a formula inclusive of RELATIVE plus/minus, quality of competition and zone progress to calculate overall ratings. it is a much better system. in 1995, Zubov was 100, right? do you know what they were using for those ratings?
  15. those 1995 ratings are a lot like my first few seasonal ROMs, where guys with good basic statistics (+/-, mostly, for mine) were nearly maxed out. 1995 had LOTS of 100-rated dudes. 1995 is a fun game that I would totally enjoy if 1994 didn't already exist. I played 1996, 1997 and 1998, too... not too much 1997, really. those games eased back a little on the 100s. annatar, do you know the overall ratings for your starters?
  16. congratulations. interesting team -- not one I'd have picked, but it looks to be a functional one. keep racking up those wins.
  17. oh. I can see variations in colors quite well and those two are so similar that I missed that. I never understand when they use such similar colors. I guess when you get up to 16 colors, some will be similar, so it's not as bad as when there are like four and they still use pink, orange read and brown, instead of like blue, red, yellow and grey. anyway, I love the teams with lots of mix-and-match players to sub in. ONE of them will be hot, at least in the SNES version where some guys, scrubs as they may be, end up all jacked up like they'd been partying with Kevin "I'm-A-Crack-Whore-But-He's-A-Crack-Monster-For-Every-Hit-I-Was-Taking-He-Took-Seven-Or-Eight" Stevens.
  18. oh, huh. well, that explains a lot of it, I guess. it's still a weird map!
  19. Hawai'i for BOS? Jersey and DeLaWhere for ANA?! I don't see any silver... so why list LAK? that's a weird map.
  20. I should be able to finish up tonight. life keeps getting in the way, but by tomorrow, for sure.
  21. y'all's leagues are great for this datamining stuff. I imagine it's a lot more fun than churning out simulations or trying to focus on which playstyles produce which outcomes in a more laboratory environment. so... thanks!
