I think there is too much whining about conditions of ice and weather and it being so late in season for this game.Hey cmon people its AN OUTDOOR GAME !!! and it makes it even better that it means something at this time of the season. This is for all of the whiners...WHAAAAAAAAA.Its an awsome game and enjoy it!The americans already stole the outdoor game to influence USA watchers on jan 1st .This is a Canadian game and its a sin to not have 1 every year in Canada. Now there saying maybe 1 Cnada game every 2-4 years WTF.Should be a USA VS CANADIAN team every jan 1st from here on in. :o

The game received more sponsorship dollars than the winter classic.

"We've got more sponsorship dollars against this game than we actually did even (at the Winter Classic) in Pittsburgh, which is amazing to me," NHL COO John Collins said Friday in an interview.

Canadian companies (and Budweiser??) sponsor a big hockey game in Canada; who would have expected that? :D

Was the first one a big money-loser?

I wouldn't exactly call the 1st heritage classic a money loser but what it did was that it spawned the start of 3 winter classics south of the border(Buff,Chi,and Pit)

Next year they need to have a toronto at montreal and a vancouver at edmonton or just a vancouver at nyr on jan 1st.Give up on that american bullshit .Its a losing cause trying to have 2 teams in florida and teams in columbus and phoenix and atlanta and take away 1 team in california .It would make lg stronger and condense the talent a bit.

John Buccigross has my favourite idea for the league and number of teams. More teams...not less! Aggressive revenue sharing! (although i don't agree with all of his locations for teams...should have quebec in there).

I want the league to go back to a 2 division format. The early rounds of the playoffs were so much more entertaining when you were guaranteed to play a division rival.

No man, the new format is way better. It got all the people familiar with the NBA format to start watching ice hockey. I mean, what's a Norris anyway? Gary Bettman is so smart. If it wasn't for his great idea to change format, we'd never have thriving non-traditional hockey markets, and TV ratings rivaling the NFL's. All hail Gary! What they really need to bring back is the glow puck and the in-the-crease rule. That was the golden age of ice hockey.
