  1. 'Update: Sign-ups are closed, and we have begun playing! Follow along with the bracket at this link, and let me know if any issues arise. Please report scores via Discord DM, and try to have 1st Round done by end of the week. Hi all, Thanks to @Jkline3's amazing work, a few of us have been discussing a tournament using the ROM. Rules Best-of-5 Bracket, with Best-of-7 Finals. If we get enough players, we will also do consolation bracket. Top seed gets home 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 7th games. Line changes off, 1-minute penalties on with no offside, and manual goalie. Once we finalize list, we'll set deadlines for playing. Ideally we'd get this over with in a week or two. There will be no changes to the ROM aside from setting OT to 99 minutes. If you haven't played the ROM, check it out here: If you want to look at all the team's ratings as a whole, I've exported the data to a Google Sheet which you can find here. And if you just want a list of the teams, there is one below directly from NOSE. Sign-ups (please comment your team as well as your Discord if we've never talked on there). 1. @seamor - Boston University 2. @clockwise - Penn State 3. @lego - Harvard 4. @danTML7 - Omaha 5. @BigValboski - North Dakota 6. @Tess - Minnesota State 7. @dmm1000 - Clarkson 8. @kidswasted - Boston College 9. @Triple A - Michigan 10. @niuhuskie224 - Wisconsin 11. @Mitch Kramer - Cornell 12. @LABS_66 - Denver 13. @TecmoJon - Minnesota-Duluth (because Minnesota was too bad apparently) 14. @BVish - THE Ohio State University 15. @MikeGartner22 - Sacred Heart 16. @#KentuckyWindage - Providence Interested @JSchmidt - Northeastern We will be playing with this ROM, as to eliminate ties, and make set up on game days a bit easier: 2020 Frozen Four Tournament - Final.bin
  2. I'd be down to organize this, I am not too experienced with doing it here, but usually I'm the guy in charge of keeping standings/brackets when my friends and I play. @-ing everyone who expressed interest just to keep everyone on same page so we can try to figure out how to go about this. @clockwise, @BigValboski, @kidswasted, @lego
  3. Just forwarded this to a buddy I have who plays on Maine. This is one of the best done roms I've played in such a long time, amazing work.
  4. Thanks for the insight, I’ll have to get a V2 out at some point this week with a fix! Appreciate all the work you did to pave the way for this to happen, it’s really amazing stuff.
  5. Hi all! I noticed there wasn't a roster update for this year on NHLPA '93, and I figured with Slapshot67's 32 team base, it would be a fun project to take up (and also get some more documentation on editing '93, since there's nothing out there compared to '94). Features Obviously fighting is back! Still working on trying to match the rate of fights in the NHL today with the AI, but that's what updates are for I suppose. (v1) 31-teams all updated, with a bonus 32nd team with myself and friends, but also quite a few "cheat code players", which I recommend checking out yourself. Expect the unexpected! (v1) Ron Barr has been replaced with Paul Bissonnette, and each team has gotten a brief write-up. (v1) Each team's roster has the top-9 forwards, top-6 defenseman, and top goalie based on a mixture of personal opinion, depth charts, and ratings. I used a mixture of performance from this season, reputation, "advanced" stats, and ratings from other games (other roster updates on forum, NHL 20, FHM 6, etc) to create the ratings/line-ups. If there's any major disagreement or error, please let me know via Discord. (v1) Known Bugs/Issues The game has crashed when it sits on screen where Zamboni drives across rink. Unsure of cause, but I believe I've patched it out at this point. If this continues, please let me know via Discord. (v1) Banner for 32nd team shows up wonky, unsure of fix. '93 uses 10 tile banners with an extension as opposed to the 12 we see in '94. (v1) I am still searching for the hex where the team ratings that are read off on the Ron Barr/BizNasty screen are stored in the ROM. No, I do not think the Sharks should have the same rating as the Blues. If anyone knows where these values are kept in '93, please let me know. (v1) The game automatically will start the team's worst goaltender at random, so to fight this, I just only gave each team one goalie, aside from some of the rosters where the position is being fought for. (v1) Special thanks to Slapshot67 for creating the 32-team rom, but also documenting a good amount of the work for the 30-team rom, so I could try to understand this version as much as possible. 7. I was literally just working on something like this using the old one we fixed the line editing on! Same wavelength I guess. Mine is a bit more arcadey, so I'll try to embrace that and change things up so I'm not stepping on any toes when I share. As always, awesome work!
  8. This is probably the best option for custom roms, it'll just take some spreadsheet work on your end to add stats together. I think there's a season tracker somewhere, but it only works with original game.
  9. Thanks. I'll try to keep the posting to a healthy amount this go around.
  10. I've been playing old games for the longest time, since I never had a console of my own until about 12, so when I got my laptop for middle school, I immediately flocked to a place where I could download and play all the games which had shaped my understanding of the gaming world. The first, was NHL '94. As a hockey fan, this site was nirvana. So many people, so much content, and the best hockey game to ever release: there was nothing that could be better! So I immediately signed up, and started to download and post any and everything. I recently stumbled upon my old account while digging around for some ROMs to upload to my RetroPi set up, and got a chuckle out of how off the wall I was back in the 'ol days (which really were just 7 years ago, but whatever). My confession: my old account was Seano7302. I'm not sure if I've posted about it before, I don't think I have though, and figured some of the ridiculousness that ensued from 11-year old me's unchecked internet access would be a nice laugh during an extraordinarily odd time. Being entirely honest, I probably should've been supervised a bit more on my computer, and never realized I was being annoying until just looking back at the posts now. I do apologize to anyone who was on the receiving end of any of my posts (I wasn't bullying people, but I certainly should've just shut up at a certain point. I screengrabbed some of my favorites, which can be found below. My lack of understanding for weighted attributes, what actually influenced gameplay, and just hockey in general is shown with this conspiracy theory about EA hiding rogue back-up goalies to outshine starters in the game: I never did post anything else, so I apologize to anyone who checked back later and didn't find any information. @Coffey set some crazy record for goals in a game, so I took the opportunity to talk some s**t: I went 0-20 in Classic that year. It was the bottom division. This one is the epitome of "11 year old who needs his computer taken away". I got a cackle out of "I am willing to fork up 20 bucks [at] toys r us" I think the story behind this next one was that I accidentally changed my preferences on the site, and @chaos helped to reset my account after I messaged him on a new one? Or I was just trying to be a brownnoser after pissing everyone off for 3 months. Both are very possible, and I wouldn't doubt it was both. This next one is my favorite. I think I pushed @Brutus and a few others to a breaking point with spam posting, shitty league ideas, and just dumb, redundant, and easily googled questions, so I went full-Karen in a self-defense moment. I don't have any idea where I was going with this, like, at all. After lurking here for 6 years after the peak of my annoyance, I cannot believe I tried taking over Blitz without asking anyone. It's such a big part of the site, and I really didn't get that then (also, I think I threatened to ask the admins to ban Brutus too. There was one line where I said "people with bad attitudes have been banned before, so I would shut it". I don't recall what my intent was, but super sorry to try to pull that card). Lastly, was my retirement post. While the line about the Dagobah system was witty, and I will give my past self that, I don't think anyone quite cared that I was leaving. I'm sure there was a private celebration on AIM, and I can't blame anyone if there was. Anyways, I'm sorry to anyone who I annoyed, deliberately, or by accident. I just was a bit eager, and didn't have a lot to do when hockey season wasn't in full swing. I would go on some tangent blaming my parents divorce or whatever, but reality is I just loved hockey, and this was the easiest place to experience it. I would also like to thank everyone who not only put up with me, but made this site and community so great that I was drawn to it in the first place. I have had a great time with the game, whether it was online or offline, you guys provided access to something I might not have otherwise stumbled upon. I mostly just lurk now, but if anyone wants a game, feel free to hit me up on Discord.

Yep, definitely put Mary instead of Marty. Did most of the roster work over the course of a day or two, so my apologies. Ironically I had just talked with him on Instagram the night before I started this project, so it should've been fresh in my mind, but oh well. I'll fix it when/if I do an update.

Project is canned. Not proud of my work, and releasing a newer, better version soon.
  14. When you finish the large goal, let me know!
  15. Not to resurrect an old thread, but you are a life saver.
  16. Love this use of the extra team!

    3 on 3 Arena

I've had this ROM finished and sitting in my GENS folder for a while, but while playing it today decided to go ahead and post it. This ROM is the reason I looked into getting rid of penalty shots, and so far I've been able to figure out a few key RAM offsets much thanks to @smozoma and @Tony H's tutorials. The premise of the ROM is that it's 3 on 3, but all the teams are even; but not in the sense that 2 on 2 is where every player is the same, but the teams take from the same player pool. The players are mostly ripped from the EASHL mode on modern NHL games, as the current system allows you and your teammates to select player builds to create the best synergy. In order to rate these players as accurately as possible, the 0-15 scale is applied. Features: Aforementioned 0-15 rating scale Complete line editing capabilities, both on and off (courteousy of @The Sauce) - Anyone can play ANY position 5 completely equal teams, named after and borrowing graphics from the 2005 WHA reboot, and 1 super team (for solo play). Weight Bug Fix (certain player builds would become useless without it) This hack is much more boring than the previous Mighty Ducks Rom (which is still incomplete, was waiting on rosters from TheQuackAttack podcast, I'll bug them again for them), but I think there's some potential for some neat things with 3 on 3. The original concept for this ROM was to include all-star teams, historic teams, and teams from movies (which lead to the Mighty Ducks ROM), and I still plan to do that at some point.\ Without further a due, here's the download. 3on3Final.bin
  18. I'll try to make some more progress on this in the coming days. Some stuff came up for I didn't do much over the past week.
  19. ABBREVIATED VERSION OF HOOK LOG OF RAM ADDRESS "FFC2F6" - Presumably the RAM address where breakaway data is stored MEMORY ACCESS LOGGING STARTED [00:E6F8] W08 = 00 [FFC2F6] (puck in my defensive zone, moving towards opposing blue line) --------------------------------------------------------------- [0F:6F20] W08 = 80 [FFC2F6] (immediate switch to this pattern of segments of 3 giving off the following sequence not every other) [00:DDC8] W08 = 84 [FFC2F6] [00:E6F8] W08 = 80 [FFC2F6] --------------------------------------------------------------- [00:E6F8] W08 = 80 [FFC2F6] (not sure what caused the switch to all 80s, I think it might have been after shooting, but before opposing team got possession) [00:E6F8] W08 = 80 [FFC2F6] [00:C278] W08 = 80 [FFC2F6] (look at these two rom addresses, unlike any other in the whole sequence) [00:C522] W08 = 80 [FFC2F6] (all 80s with these 3 rom addresses until the last two) --------------------------------------------------------------- [00:E6F8] W08 = 80 [FFC2F6] [00:E6F8] W08 = 80 [FFC2F6] [00:E6F8] W08 = 80 [FFC2F6] --------------------------------------------------------------- [00:E6F8] W08 = 00 [FFC2F6] (after breakaway "ends") [01:2C16] W08 = 00 [FFC2F6] MEMORY ACCESS LOGGING STOPPED COMPLETE VERSION: breakaway flag.txt
  20. @brianski71 I'll add that to the eventual update! Thanks for noticing!
  21. Almost always on weekend nights from usually 6 PM-1AM EST Middle of week is tough, if I'm online it's from 7-10. Hope to get some games against everyone at some point
  22. Very good news: I was able to get in touch with the kind people over at the QuackAttack Podcast, and they offered to give the names of the players on the main rival teams. I've already updated the Hawks roster, waiting on Iceland and Eden Hall. First update should be out next weekend, might have player cards, depends how much time I have.
  23. Thanks! That’d be a lot of fun, we could throw in some other movies such a Goon, Youngblood, and so on. And thank you, I tried to make it as close to the movie cover with the logo being off center. That first one I’d definitely like to put in, since that’s a lot better than the 30 Team rom player cards (I think Adam Banks shows up as a goalie?) I tried to find an in between the white and the blue, but I’m not exactly in love with it so I’ll change it since it seems not everyone likes it too too much either. The USA-Iceland matchup is the hardest to tell apart IMO, maybe it’d be cool to put the Anaheim jersey as their away so it’d be like in the movie?
