I play as the Blues more than others. Not because they're good, but because I'm a hopeless homer. If it weren't for my hatred of the real life team, I would probably play the Red Wings the most. They are fun to play as, but growing up a Blues fan there is an empty feeling scoring an Yzerman goal.

My bad, I'm not used to seeing the SNES version & I saw "NHLPA" so I assumed. Is the SNES version easier to score in? 95 in 20 min periods seems like an extraordinary score. The Gen record on this site is 34 for 10 min periods. That seems like a hell of an increase. I didn't want to sound pushy, but my 40 goal Gen game hasn't been posted. No big hurry, but I hope it'll make it on the site before it's broken Even though it seems paltry compared to the SNES numbers here.

You should've specified that it was nhlpa hockey, not 94. I almost swallowed my tounge Never have reached 100, but I never played nhlpa hockey. I skipped from nhl to nhl94 & I don't even remember how many goals I scored on the original nhl.

I was looking through the game editing section of this site & it tells you how to find the number of goalies on a team, but how does the ROM know where the forwards for a given team stop & the defensemen begin?

Mutant League Hockey wasn't really bad. It certainly wasn't great. With the preceding games of mutant league football (pretty good game) and NHL, I really expected a lot better.

I personally don't have the time to play an online league, but I think that longevity could be added by mixing up the teams. We DO have NOSE now. Why not have a system where you can only hold on to SOME of your players & throw the rest in a pool & have a draft for them where the losingest team picks first & the championship team plays last? After a few seasons I would think it would balance out. Do any leagues do this?

I don't think it'll stop. People tend to think of trends and entertainment as it relates to age, but tendancies don't correlate with age so much as they relate to what the person grew up with. It seems strange that people our age will play video games when we're 70, but it probably seemed crazy that baby boomers & pre-baby boomers would still listen to young music like the Beatles & Elvis for so long. My grandparents liked the same hobbies they liked when they were young until they died. My parents still like the same hobbies they liked when they were young. I don't see why our generation would be any different.

Didn't "Ice Hockey" for the NES have full team brawls? Or am I imagining that?

I loved Wayne Gretzky Hockey. I played it on DOS, but apparently it was released on the Amiga too. I can't find much info on it though.

Don't know much about Mac, but it sounds like an incompatability with the emulator. This page has 3 other emulators that are supposed to be mac compatible. http://www.zophar.net/mac/genesis.html

Yeah, I got excited at first, but then I remembered it's nintendo, so they'll probably charge $20 for an exact replica of a game you can get for $2 from Gamestop.

Jagr at 7 is horrible. He wouldn't make my top 25 in nhl94 alone. I like the props for fat guy in Ice Hockey though.

I think if you double-press B & then do a one timer on Genesis, the computer executes the one-timer. Is this what you're talking about, or does the computer actually skate with the puck?

Thou shalt check as many players as possible after the whistle. Thou shalt celebrate breaking the glass more than scoring a goal.

I think your best chance is to kill off the owner of a good team & take it over.

I don't recall any close game spectacular goals, because I can't remember the last time I played against another human, but as far as bizarre goals, I recall one lately... The computer had the puck taking it along the boards. Right at the red line I board checked him hard & it was one of those glitch board checks that sends the guy half way down the ice. So he went flying right along the red line & the puck flew backwards as hard as if I had shot it & it went right through their goalie's 5-hole for a goal.

LA isn't bad, but forget about kurri & mcsorley. It's all about Tomas Sandstrom. Best pull-up slapshot in the game.
