  1. https://www.mariolemieux.org/donate/donaterequest.html Apparently you could get signed memorabilia/tickets as prizes if the request is accepted. Kinda cool.
  2. Consol Energy Center will never happen, or at the very least, not on a game night. Up to like 250 consecutive sell-outs (including every game played since the arena opened), the suites are all booked by corporations, probably for decades, there are 2,000 single-game tickets that go on sale for each game in September, and they typically get sold in about half an hour (and I believe you can only get 4 together). I'm all for thinking big, but that's just too big. A hotel ballroom with a bar is a much more possible scenario. The only possible way to get Lemieux involved would be to give the proceeds to his charity (Mario Lemieux Foundation, I believe). Then maybe sponsorship from the Penguins would be a possibility.
  3. If the Pens are sponsoring, screw me and icestorm doing commentary. Bring in Mike Lange!
  4. Maybe if the tourney was weight-big fixed, the Pens would be willing to sponsor (being that Lemieux's the co-owner of the team, for those who don't follow the NHL). :-) In all homesty though, Pittsburgh would be a good city ro have this in. Not extremely expensive, in an area where we're within reasonable distance of the big hockey markets (Detroit, Chicago, Philly, New York, Boston, Buffalo, D.C., eastern Canada), and it's also a city that houses all kinds of stupid events and it has a population that supports all kinds of stupid events (Pierogi races anyone?).
  5. Giroux, whiny bitches, Rangers, Caps, and the West coast all have not won a Cup in the past 5 years. So I'm taking Crosby in the "one of these things doesn't belong" game.
  6. I can say it once again: Anyone know where I can find a 1975 Stanley Cup champs t-shirt?
  7. ...3 hours after falsely proclaiming it was ready.... OK here we go, game 1, pearate vs gretzonacold. I screwed up the sound for this one so it only got the mic sound, no game sounds. That'll be fixed for the remaining games. Enjoy.
  8. What a great night for the Coyotes last night, advance to the WCF and take a huge step towards keeping the team in Phoenix.
  9. Coming soon (~3 hours, that's how long the youtube upload looks like it's gonna take)
  10. 2-0 Phoenix, Smith has stopped 64 straight, Nashville had all kinds of chances down 1 but got rope-a-doped. I'm thinking it's safe to start preparing for an LA-Phoenix WCF.
  11. Vids are coming, hopefully get some posted tomorrow.
  12. Philly put everything they had in beating the Pens. They're running out of gas.
  13. Devils-Coyotes Cup Finals. Who meeds tv ratings anyhow?
  14. Yeah if I recall correctly the Hagelin penalty was a pretty routine call.
  15. It does feel like Philly's stalling out a bit, doesn't it?
  16. Yeah that last game was definitely a wild one. Savard was out for most of the game, Lebeau was out for a period, I believe Brisebois was out for a period, and no powerplay goals. The Jets gooned it up and won :-) Well-deserved #1 seed though. Congrats.
  17. Predictions? I'll take Detroit over Buffalo in 6. I have nothing to gain by predicting my series so I'll keep my trap shut.
  18. Yeah I know it's a percentage. That's stunning to me. A higher % of people in the Phoenix area were watching the Coyotes on a less widely available network than were watching the Rangers in New York.
  19. So the tv ratings were better in Phoenix than in New York, even though the Coyotes game was on NBC Sports Network and the Rangers game was on NBC. Interesting.
  20. We've got the last 2 games in Gens B to play, big games in terms of seeding. Let me know when you're available.
  21. I've never been to Arizona, so I'm not going to claim to be some expert on the subject, but from what I understand, back in the 90's the Coyotes drew respectable attendance numbers for a mediocre (not bad) team, in an arena that was absolutely awful for hockey. The only difference between then and now is that they've moved the team to Glendale, rather than downtown Phoenix. So it'd seem that the franchise could survive in Arizona. But as for the political crap, I don't have a clue.
