Did that on the router port forwarding page and the software firewall page, but no dice except for that one random time when it actually connected. Even if I DMZ my computer it doesn't connect.

Anyone here have the Linksys WRT54G router and is able to connect to zbattle? I've tried all the settings on all the sites that talk about port forwarding and editing the .ini file but I've gotten zbattle to connect exactly once since I installed this new router earlier this week (it then failed to connect when I disconnected and reconnected without changing any more settings).

I just played two games against Dexture and they were entirely acceptable in all required ways.

swos showed me something quite revolutionary tonight: a kaillera client that makes kaillera into a p2p application instead of client-server. Kaillera p2p client I've used it and it's legit as far as I can tell. The instructions for installation are all there and yeah, it's a little weird to set up, but this should really help with Gens netplay, mainly since it equalizes ping for both players. I was playing with swos tonight and he called it the best connection he's ever had against a North American player (he's Finnish). We should give it consideration for future leagues, especially in cases where there's a real ping discrepancy. Again: READ THE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. Yes, you have to have CAPS LOCK on when you start up Gens for it to work.

Sir, I most strongly disagree with your assessments of the audial qualities of the Genesis and Super Nintendo versions! Seriously, having spent extensive time with both I think the Genesis verison's sounds are better, mainly because, well, there's actual sound after a goal in the Genesis version. I mean, in SNES, you score and the ref blows his whistle (even if the home team scores). With Genesis, there's a siren and, if the home team scores, organ music. I think the hitting the post sound effect is better on Genesis, too, since it sounds more to me like actually hitting a post with the puck. The SNES sound is more like...well, I don't know exactly what it sounds like, but it's not as good a sound as the Genesis version's.

I just played LEGENDOFNHL94 in a test game. His connection was good (just occasional holdups) and he knew how to get started. S'all good.

It was with a 2006 ROM so yeah, Philly was a strong team. I mean, this was all before we found out how they'd actually do in the first season after the lockout, I think.

How many, exactly? I had 30-some wins in a row in donnie's first '94 league, though that was with a powerful Philly team and I was playing a significant number of new players.

Anyone ever have anything like this happen? I was playing DrahkanRahl and the connection was pretty choppy. Twice in the first period one of his guys skated into my keeper and the ref flashed on the screen for a moment indicating a penalty, but he then disappeared right away and the penalty was never called. Later, his keeper skated far out with the puck and the ref whistled and appeared on the screen again for a moment, but Drak then passed the puck, the ref disappeared, the whistle stopped, and the play continued. Finally, in the 3rd, my guy shot the puck into the net, the ref appeared for a moment, the whistle sounded, but a moment later the ref disappeared, the whistle stopped, and my guy kept on skating, the puck back in his possession. Drak wasn't seeing any of these things. I don't know what was happening, but I've got a theory. When you're playing on Kaillera with Gens and you get desynched, you stay desynched and that's that. We don't know how ZSNES's netplay works, but I suspect that it's set up so that if a desynch occurs, it immediately has one player transmit his state to the other player and the game immediately resumes. If that's so, I'm a little surprised that I'd be getting Drak's state since I was the host and he was the client, but we just don't know. So...anyone ever seen anything like this with ZSNES?
