  1. Get your brackets in, I would assume that you have until puck drop on April 11th to complete your bracket.
  2. It's that time of year again.. think you can pick the winners in each round? Think you know which series will be an upset? Prove it boi! 3. Was thinking about it this morning.. I'll get it set-up today or tomorrow.
  4. Just a follow-up.. it looks like the beta-testing is completed, and all should have access to online NHL94 play. The issue I have atm, is that the system requires a particular rom in order to play. Need to find that rom - or perhaps rename my rom so it is recognized. Need to get a few guys on in order to test the lobby/chat functions.
  5. This is no easy task, as players are injured and lines are shuffled all season. Corsica has a line generator that will show you the most frequent line combinations - but you'll still need to patch together the 3rd and 4th lines yourself (as there are a lot of combinations).
  6. I don't think I'm OCD, but when I buy a second hand controller I tear it down, wash all of the plastic bits in soap/water, clean the board (particularly the contact points) with rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab, and replace the rubber pads. The one thing that will make some difference IMO, is if you pull apart the directional pad - depending on how much force you put it back together with, your directional inputs will be affected. I've had mixed results, all of my 6-button controllers are playable, but I do favour some over others. Not sure where I read it, but most retro gamers favour the "Made in Japan" controllers over the "Made in China" models.
  7. West coast is always going to be tough. When the tournament was in Vegas, my employer tempted me by having our annual conference in Palm Springs - but still couldn't commit to the travel. This year, Vancouver - and wouldn't you know it, the annual conference is being held in Vancouver Oct 22--25. Amazing.

  9. I voted for the later date (3/19), but will go with whatever is decided.
  10. ^^ I'm guilty of this. ^^ It is particularly lethal if your opponent is between the dots (prime scoring area) - you're better off holding, or b-checking - or better yet, grab your goalie!

  15. I think I've got all of the bracket rounds tagged, and many of the RR, and Swiss games. Haven't tackled the Twitch stream - but I'm guessing there is duplication there? Thought I'd share this small moment in the tourney, that I only got to see because of the stream.. this is two veteran SEGA players calling FLA/SJS in their Semifinal match-up [link].
  16. When I find some time, I'd like to post the match-ups recorded on the streams for future reference. Also want to mention that I really like to look of Tom's stream, the retro design looks awesome. 17. Got home today around 5:30pm, spent an extra night in Minneapolis on the way home and watched the Wild/Sharks game Sunday night. Just wanted to say thanks to Troy @King of 94' WI for setting up this weekend, we had a really great time and played a lot of NHL94 from Friday evening exis, to a full day Saturday. The venue (Edge VR) was just about perfect IMO - basically next door to the hotel, and within walking distance of anything you needed including the airport (ask @CoachMac and @angryjay93). In the end I played 18 tournament games on Saturday between SNES (10 games) and Sega (8 games), making the Quarterfinals on both systems. Big thanks to @corbettkb for sharing his cheatsheet for SNES, and @CoachMac for bringing the sheets for Genesis. I was lucky to play a good number of games on the streams which was fun, but the highlight would have to be the series vs/ @CoachMac on SNES on Facebook Live - True Game Fans Network starting around 3:08:00. We had Arda calling the play, and the organ playing along to our goals and penalties. The OT winner in game 1 was SEXY! On Genesis I had a game vs. Tom -The Retro Sports Gamer which was called by @kingraph, streamed on Youtube - The Retro Sports Gamer. Best series was vs. @LeifErikson, without question, a tense 3 game set that I really wish was recorded somewhere. He picked the match-ups in games 1 and 3, looking to get his home Kings in both games by giving up the Wings and Hawks as visitors. The other game I got to play my Leafs vs. the Bruins. Great to hang out with the forum guys who attended, and enjoyed meeting all of the players in my groups. Cheers guys, and looking forward to attending another tournament in the future.
  18. The 2 game series has always been my preference, I think it breeds more activity as guys know that they can get a bunch of games in and nobody is waiting around for too long. 4 gamers are often enough that guys won't stick around and/or enough for some guys that one series is all they'll play in a night.
  19. Et tu Brute 2 and maybe consider using last season teams to form keepers with new coaches.
  20. If you are running it in Dosbox, these are the best instruction I know of.
  21. These instructions were for installation on a Windows machine - to run it on a Mac, you'd need to dual-boot Windows, or run it on Dosbox. But yes, you should be able to run the game without the CD.
  22. I found the perfect controller for this tournament location. (For the price, it might be worth it just for the Genesis->SNES adapter included) https://www.ebay.com/itm/Beeshu-JET-FIGHTER-CONTROLLER-For-Super-Nintendo-Sega-Genesis-w-SNES-adapter/222828101590?hash=item33e196ffd6:g:2yUAAOSws0Jaem40
