  2. Hm.. what about this one? gens_netplaysave.zip
  3. Expansion was voted down. http://nhl94.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=4262
  4. We should probably have the emulator available for download from the GDL website... Go here and get Gens 2.11 (not 2.14): <a href="http://gens.consolemul.com/downloads.shtml" target="_blank">http://gens.consolemul.com/downloads.shtml</a> Unzip/extract Gens 2.11 to some directory (there is no installer). Then, download the file attached to this post, which contains a modified executable (gens-netplaysave.exe) that does a few things: enables saving during netplay with the F5 key allows you to change save-slots with the F6-F7 keys has editable sound volume, since I always found gens was too loud... Unzip the file into the gens 2.11 directory, so gens-netplaysave.exe is in the same directory as the old gens.exe. Run gens-netplaysave.exe instead of gens.exe --- There are two files attached to this post. One is a .ZIP, the other is a .BIN. Download the ZIP. If you can't get the zip to work on your comp (stupid windows integrated zip uselessness!!), then download the BIN. The BIN is actually the EXE (but i'm not allowed to upload EXE to the forum, for security reasons). You need to rename the file extension from .bin to .exe . To rename from bin to exe: If you don't see the .bin in the filename once it is on your computer, you need to enable file extensions like so: open a windows explorer window, go to Tools->Folder Options, then go to the View tab, and UNcheck the option "Hide extensions for known file types." then click OK [*]right-click on the file, select "Rename" then erase the .bin part and replace it with .exe . Take the EXE and put it in the gens 2.11 folder. gens_netplaysave.bin gens_netplaysave.zip

  7. Dang.. i was SO sure the Luke Richardson on the Sens had to be a new Luke Richardson.. But it's the old one!
  8. I can definitely see what you're saying. Sometimes it's really hard to deke with a guy like mogilny, just because of how fast he's going. Then there are the times when you pass up to them, but they're skating too fast, so you have to stop to wait for the puck, etc..
  9. Yeah, 4 isn't bad of course, but 5 speed is part of what makes the elite bunch elite, or guys who have 4 speed but are light (gilmour, ciccarelli), since weight affects acceleration (something I learned about trying to fix the weight bug, messing with the 1-vs-1 ROM...). A guy rated 93 but doesn't have 5 speed or killer checking is bound to not live up to his rating. But that's my run-and-gun offense, bump-and-grind defense style opinion. Coaches with a little more finesse might not value those attributes as much as I do.
  10. Oates is actually pretty decent, in a quiet way. He shot is alright, way better than Gretzky's. I had him in the short-lived nhl94.net league, and he kept up with Selanne in points. Big weaknesses in my opinion are his skating (4 speed) and lack of checking presence. I would still pick Gretzky instead of him, though. I don't see the point in Sandstrom+Robitaille. They're too similar -- good shooters who can't hit and don't have 5+ speed. I'd go for one and then a guy who can hit and pass (.. gretz!)
  11. By the end of the season, I'm sure I'll be saying Roy is the most overrated
  12. Hm, never noticed it. I'll have to look for it the next time I play...
  13. Here are some options: 56 (4/2/2/2) 62 (4/3/2/2) 68 (4/4/2/2) 78 (6/4/2/2) 80 (4/4/3/3) 92 (4/4/4/4) and kind of like baseball (was): 66 (6/6/0/0) I like 68(4/4/2/2). Since making the playoffs is based on your performance relative everyone else in your conference, it seems right to play them all the same number of times. It also makes it not matter how we distribute the teams among divisions. We only have to worry about keeping the conferences about even, which is much easier to do.
  14. The NHL used to have fewer games in the early days. Our league is still young. We should embrace change early on, before we have a long history that becomes more and more difficult to deviate from. We can always have an historical "goals per game" measure, anyway.
  15. How many games are we having? Last year we did 56(4/2/2/2 (division matches)), I think. I'd rather do 62(4/3/2/2) or even 68(4/4/2/2).
  16. I had to deliberate over whether to take Roy or Bure... Chose Roy in the end. Thoughts?
  17. Looks like they're working right, now!
  18. Indeed. Hm, division names... - wboy division (NOSE) - Dallongeville division (after Stéphane Dallongeville, writer of Gens) - dmitry division - Evan division
  19. nnnnNNNNNOOOOOOooOOOOooooOOOO!!! ok.
  20. Roenick crib sheet: without puck: - if you are roenick, point at opponent player with puck, press C, obtain puck. - if you are not roenick, he will intercept opponent's pass or crush opponent with open-ice hit, obtaining the puck. Or press B to become roenick. with puck: - if you are roenick, point to net, watch defenders bounce of you, laugh, deke, press C, score (or don't deke, hold C to slapshot from slot, score), laugh more. - if you are not roenick, go to corner next to opponent's net, button hook, press B to pass towards centre of ice, press C to activate onetimer, watch roenick score.
  21. Seeing the icons for about half of th enew posts now (weird!)
  22. I make a similar save somewhere in this 6-minute video, except the puck hits the goalie while he's in mid-flight on the dive: There's a crazy goal-line flop save on a penalty shot in this one:
  23. I'm consistently surprised to see Lemieux go with the 1st or 2nd pick. He's a great player, sure, but with his inability to take a hit and low acceleration, guys like Bure or Gilmour just seem way better to me :/ Is it me who's nuts? No one dekes better than Lemieux, though.
