  1. Thanks everyone for a great season and for the compliments!! It was great to get to come back as a replacement and be allowed to use Edmonton again as well...thanks Chaos/Halifax for letting me do so!! I was able to knock out 31 games in 2 weeks to make a mad dash to qualify for the playoffs and then continue on to the eventual Stanley Cup victory. Would have liked to have gotten all 40 in for sure and to have seen everyone else have been able to do so as well. Hopefully this is something that can/will be addressed next season if possible. AJ, thanks for a great series. You played really hard and had me second guessing a lot of what I was doing during the series with breakouts and offensive strategies. I was very nervous heading into the series and even though it only went for 5 games, it was definitely a lot closer than the final results indicated. Boston is not quite as tough to play as say LA or Pitt, but still enough of a pain. Neely, Ruzicka, and Bourque certainly didn't make anything easy for me as the series wore on. Thankfully, I had the Oilers again this season. I can't say enough about how good they mesh together as a unit. I had an absolute blast using them and it has been amazing to win not 1, but 2 championships with them. #simpson3:16 It's still an incredible thing to be playing this game 20+ years after its release and trying to spread the love as often as possible to everyone who either has never experienced it yet or is simply unaware of the following it still has after so long. Since December 2010, this game in its online form has kept me afloat during some extremely dark times and also has been there during some very joyful days as well. I remember one very dark night in February 2014 when I was down about some personal issues relating to a soon to be ex-gf and questioning my own existence. I wrote in the SNES superbuds chat that night that I hoped that NHL 94 would exist in heaven if I was able to make it there and that I would get to play it all with you in person someday. While that still may likely be a while away, at the very least, we're all together in this community and can relate to one another and most importantly, get to share our respect and admiration for one another and our passion for this game and all that it has done for us. For the love of the game... -Oilers442
  2. Hey buds. We'll see what happens...Chicago and I don't seem to be a good match as my recent exhibs indicate. I'd love to be able to switch to Edmonton if possible lol Either way, very glad to be back again and I will be hitting you guys up asap. My best times to play right now are Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.
  3. Good luck this season all. Can't wait to watch the SNES A magic unfold.
  4. I've never found the issue of SNES posts to be problematic honestly. I've had plenty of games where I've hit zero posts. Just like in real life you'll have some games where a guy is gonna be on fire and will never miss his shots and in other games, that same player is gonna hit a post or three or just miss the net all together. I fail to see the logic of the argument in this case...and certainly having a few posts in some games is a whole lot better than having barely any posts at all because it's a vital part of hockey, like it or not.
  5. The mold of consistency: Mike Ridley!!
  6. Classic is like the flagship league of this community...there has to be a spring season! Why not hold signups to at least see what the turnout is and then if it's not good enough, maybe decide to cancel the season? I know on the SNES side of things at least, there's enough vets that will come back around once they see that the ball is rolling on the next season...
  7. Sometime last year, I put up either 8 or 9 in one game with Eric Lindros against NorthwayNative...he was less than thrilled lol. My personal best is 10 with Chris Kontos against my brother a few summers ago.
  8. Here's an idea I've been contemplating for a few weeks and floated around on the SNES buds chat a few nights ago. Starting from the first SNES classic league ever held and going all the way up to the Fall 2013 league, I propose that we invite all former league champions back for a one-time only tournament to determine who the greatest SNES NHL 94 player of all time is. Obviously, a lot of details (format, groupings, teams, etc) would still have to be worked out based on how many players signed up, but I think this could be a really cool and fun event. NorthwayNative even added the additional idea of some sort of prize or reward (yet to be determined), in order to draw further interest and attention from players who have not been seen here in a very long time. Halifax, we would probably need your help, and that of the other mods, to create the list of all former champions and send out the necessary e-mails to them (especially the guys who don't come here often, if at all, anymore). However, I can only imagine the possibilities of dream match-ups and the sheer amount of skill and talent that would be present. Grayto, JeffBC, BoKnows, XOT82, Annatar, Northway, Fenty, c4outlaws, etc....the list goes on and on... What do you all think?
  9. Hey everyone, As some of you have no doubt read, I was able to take this season's SNES A1 league title for the first time in my NHL 94 career with the Edmonton Oilers. With that, I've accomplished my biggest goal in playing this game and participating in this community since I first started playing exhibs in 2010 and competing in league games in 2012. I had a blast playing this season and am certainly honored by the congratulations and compliments I've received since last Wednesday. I'd like to personally thank Bo for a great series in the finals and offer my congratulations on another excellent season with Alexander Mogilny and the Buffalo Sabres...to say I was intimidated and nervous heading into the finals would be an understatement lol. Before this season, I had announced to everyone that no matter what the result of this season was for me, that it would be my last as a full time player in the Classic league. I've had several times in the past where I had planned on stepping away from the game but always kept coming back for more...most recently when Grayto and I discussed 2013 being the 20th anniversary of NHL 94. I've written several topics in the past about my reasons for leaving/scaling back and so I feel there is no need to further elaborate on those here. That being said, I'm extremely proud to have been a part of this year's celebration and Spring and Fall leagues that have accompanied the anniversary of this amazing game and am thankful that I waited another year before scaling back. I still will be stepping away from the league after this season, but to my friends who I regularly play exhibs against, I promise I will never be too far away for the occasional exhib game or lengthy strategy discussion For SNES, there is much to look forward to in the coming seasons...Annatar's emergence as an offensive force, NorthwayNative's rise to elite status, Bo's continued dominance, Fenty's hopeful return, McMarkis' representation of the old guard of SNES, the status of Grayto, etc...I can't wait to watch it all play out over time...I wish you all and the other SNES players the best of luck and my thanks and appreciation for thousands of games, practice, the knowledge i've acquired about this game, and some of the most fun times I've ever had in my life...there will definitely be more to come in the future! Oilers442 signing off for now...thanks again everyone!! #simpson3:16 GGS! PS: I'm still working on trying to upload the games of the finals vs Bo on youtube. My upload speeds are horribly slow of late and I've also not had a lot of time to try further uploads...I will be continuing to work on this in the coming days. I'm also planning on completing my SNES lineup write-ups for every team in the epiphanies section...for those who may have been wondering hehee. PPS: Hi Plabax!
  10. I've been attempting to upload vids of all 6 games onto my youtube channel but am having no luck so far...since when has youtube's uploading speeds become so mind numbingly slow? Still planning on typing a season wrap up/final thoughts for you guys...still kind of letting this all sink in...I will say thank you to everyone though, including Bo; great series bud!
  11. Series completed as of tonight. However, I had an issue with my game 5 save file and it won't upload correctly. In case it's needed for confirmation purposes, I lost the game 6-2. Bo, can you upload that save file to the site? More comments on the series/season to come a bit later...
  12. Hey bud, I got your aim message and replied to it a few min ago. I'd prefer to play tonight if you have time but if not, I'm available all day tomorrow...
  13. McMarkis, I've been looking for you online for the past few days. Let me know when would be a good time for you to get our playoff series in bud... -Oilers442
  14. Yeah if you consider holding the puck in your own zone, benching all of your players, pulling your goalie, scoring on yourself, and not even trying to win at all great...and then mocking me for calling a timeout, and making generally irrelevant comments like the ones above...You threw the series...It's BS and you know it... I might have won 4 games to 0, but in this manner...I just want to puke...and I sure as hell don't even want to upload the saves...this is ridiculous...
  15. I've tried numerous times to set up a time to play with Mattice but haven't had any luck. Yes, Mattice was having problems with his hamachi and had initially told me that he would be trying to play on a different computer. I messaged him on Nov. 29th asking if he'd gotten his problem resolved and he said "probably not until sunday" (Dec. 1st). I sent him an offline IM that night letting him know that I would be on to play that night...I didn't get a response until 24 hours later (Dec. 2nd), saying "alrighty let's get it on". I logged in about 10:30 that night, and he was offline, and so I replied back asking him if he would be online again later that night...I have gotten no response from him since.

  17. Stheds and Bob, You guys are last on my schedule of games to be played. I'd like to make it to 40 games this season...so if you guys could provide me with the best times for you guys to play, I'd be much appreciative. Thanks, Oilers442
  18. And so it begins. Good luck to everyone this season. We're on the 2nd and final 20th anniversary classic season for NHL '94. Let's make this one for the ages!! #fortheloveofthegame
  19. Fact is you still quit the playoffs and let all of us down in the process. Call me a choker if you want, but its hard to be one when simpson, manson and klima start putting every shot off the post or into the stands after having been dynamite every other game....oh and btw u didnt win a single game against me in the regular season and with how you play defense, i could hit 10 posts in a game and still win......oh wait, that actually DID happen.I hope my epiphanies and season thoughts upset you greatly. Id rather put a lot of thought into those and show my respect and admiration for the game and its players, online coaches, etc than conform to your standards of what an 'acceptable' post is around here...which apparently is nothing more than mindless garbage half of the time...
