  1. BJ, let me be the first to welcome you to the NHL 94 community. It's good to see another SNES player who's interested in playing online. I play online as well but won't be returning to the online circuit full-time until about a week from today. In the meantime, here are a few players/AIM names that you should add to your list if you are looking for games. These guys are very helpful for new online players and will be able to help get you set up to play if you have not done so already. Might I add, they are also simply great guys to chat with and have fun playing against. c4outlaws PondHcky1 Cjgarnet thetoxic82 matticefire BoKnowsNHL94 Also BJ, whenever you see me online, feel free to contact me for games. I'm always up for playing and practicing. My AIM is Oilers442. Hope to see you around soon bud. And once again, welcome to the NHL 94 community!!
  2. No worries Mav and certainly no hard feelings on my end.
  3. Says the guy who got himself banned from GENS Classic. I'm not trying to start any trouble, but what is your problem? I respect the heck out of all of the SNES players and have received nothing but respect back from all of them. Where's yours? I'm not just some noob like you apparently think I am. You might be a part of SDL and are somewhat established, but I've been playing SNES online against majority of the regulars longer than you have. It's circumstance rather than choice that has prevented me from joining any SNES leagues to this point. Pandering? Self-promotion? It's a mere reminder that I'll be home soon and ready to go for SNES. I don't want SDL to go away at all. I've been waiting a long time to possibly join and contribute. If you don't like that, fine, but slandering me for wanting to join a league? Now I've seen everything...
  4. I know I sound like a broken record, but I'll take the Edmonton Oilers once I'm home a week from this Saturday. It makes too much sense, my name is Oilers442 afterall... You wouldn't believe how crushed I was when I found out that Dan had to drop from the league and that I was the first person considered as a replacement coach for the Edmonton Oilers yet I had to leave again for college the next day and had to come back to not having a fast enough internet connection to play. The Oilers are the team I want above all else if I'm accepted into SDL... SNES regulars, you know how much I play when I'm home. Pondhcky, Cjgarnet, C4, Houly, Xot82 (especially how much I ask for exhi's and I always catch him at a bad time , etc. ) May 5th, I graduate from college and my availability is going to be much higher from then on. I'm 100% committed to doing my part and getting games in if you guys are willing to wait another week for me to finally return for good...
  5. Unless I'm misunderstanding the context, I think he meant to say "parity". Most definitely, the Win-Loss records have been way more consistent this year in SNES A. The playoffs should be quite the barn-burner this time out...
  6. Just throwing it out there man. I've been playing SNES online since Christmas of 2010. C4, Pondhcky, Cjgarnet, and the rest of the SNES vets can vouch for me of how much I've played against them in the limited time that I get and how I'll be able to get my games done if I'm brought into the SDL fold...
  7. I know I alluded to this in a post a few days ago, but as of May 5th, I'll be available if replacements are still needed by then. You guys are aware of how much I play when I'm home from school so committment is one thing you'll never need to worry about from my end... SDL will not die... The arrival... Oilers442... May 5th... ok ill pipe down for now, hehe...
  8. If by May 5th (day im done with school and can committ to leagues) there is a need for a replacement coach, throw my name into the replacement pool. Considering my namesake, this team has me written all over it...
  9. I've been waiting for this topic for a long time. I'd like to do a full write-up/lineup guide on every team similar to AJ's work for Gens. However, I probably need to prove myself in online leagues first (finally will be able to join in the Fall!). Anyways, I digress... MTL Muller-Lebeau-Bellows Schneider-DesJardins LA Gretzky-Robitalle-Sandstrom Blake-Zhitnik (McSorley used against heavy teams such as Pitt) DET Fedorov-Yzerman-Ciccarelli Lidstrom-Coffey (Chiasson used against heavy teams) EDM (favorite lineup in game) Corson-Simpson-Klima Manson-Kravchuk CHI Ruuttu-Roenick-Larmer Smith-Chelios NYR Messier-Gartner-Tikkanen Patrick-Leetch PHI Recchi-Lindros-Brind'Amour Yushkevich-Hawgood I usually leave Pitt default...don't like using them lol
  10. I voted for summer, but that of course reflects my situation with lack of proper internet while at college. Otherwise, I'd say start it right away.
  11. Congrats Bo! Can't wait to get some exhi's in against you relatively soon. Can't wait to join SDL in the future as well!
  12. Heh. He'll be back...Trust me...I know from experience. Everyone remember my retirement topic over the summer? Yeah, that lasted all of 7-10 days I think. In fact, mods/Halifax, if you guys wanna go ahead and delete that, feel free. I'm still a bit embarrased to go back and read it (though it was a good self-wake up call to practice/study guitar more ) But yeah, Houly will be back. I'm almost sure of it. The call of '94 lures us all back eventually
  13. This is a toughie for me to answer. I traditionally always felt more comfortable scoring when skating north due to being mostly a 1on1/deke specialist for many years and in my early online days. However, as my game has progressed to integrate more passing, set plays, etc., I find that a lot of those new things are easier for me when I'm going south. It's almost like I can see the ice better and even in some ways prefer being the away team now due to going south twice in a game. Based on that, I voted no preference.
  14. Good luck RWD especially in SNES because I think there's too many really good players already (though you are one of them for sure). I already know that my dream of winning an SNES A title with the Edmonton Oilers doesn't stand even a 10% chance with the current pool of players.
  15. LOL!!!!! Anybody that thinks that stuff is a threat is crazy imo... For the record, cj's connection is fine as it is. I haven't played online in almost a month, but my last round of games vs cj went very smoothly even though his connection was supposedly deemed 'unplayable'...
  16. Good one Sammy!! I can only pray that this is a sign of things to come for the franchise...
  17. I fail to see what good the slanderous name calling does other than tick off the coaches in question. I honestly expected better from such a respected coach in the snes ranks...
  18. LOL! Pond, not sure if this is referencing rc's scoring stats with Teemu in SDL, or the BOS vs. WPG battles between you and I where Teemu comes alive and can't be stopped... Overall, I believe there are no cheap goals in '94. Cut-across goals are annoying, but defendable. Thus, I can't honestly say that they are cheap. However, I personally hate them both ways at the same time. Maybe it is out of slight fear that someone would consider me a cheap player by scoring semi-regularly with the cut-across, but I'd rather score in more typical/challenging/skilled ways that express strong passing, deking, and shooting, etc...That doesn't mean I'd never use the cut-across at all or consider anyone who uses them to be unskilled, but the cut-across will never be a major part of my strategy...
  19. As if mine would be hard to guess...lol Edmonton Oilers
  20. Hey bud, welcome to the site and the world of NHL 94 online. Nice to see another member from the southern U.S. join us My AIM is Oilers442 and I play zsnes exclusively for the time being. We'll play some games sometime. Other guys I recommend you to add and play against: cjgarnet c4outlaws xot82 houly iceguy94 grayto There are plenty of other great snes players out there that I haven't mentioned but are floating out there
  21. Cmon, give everyone a break. It's a video game draft league....a video game....not real life. Sit back, relax, let it take its time and enjoy the process and future games once the season is underway...
  22. Poker, I'm assuming you meant me (Oilers94 hasn't posted here in over 5 years ). Congrats on winning it all bud and thank you for the shout out. I will say that playing you probably frustrates me more than playing anyone else in the league, but it's obviously indicative of your skills as a player. And you just won the title, so maybe I won't get as frustrated next time knowing that I'm playing/losing to an official league champ. Regardless, your playoff record this season was outstanding and certainly worthy of high praise. Great job man And yes, Pitt is too heavy...someone please ban them from the leagues in the future, lol jk Congrats once again Pokerchamp and enjoy this title because I'll be gunning to win it all next fall when I'm finally in the leagues (unless grayto re-establishes his dominant presence once again).
  23. He has a tendency to do that, lol, he is a great competitor
  24. lol! On SNES, I routinely sub out Wayne Gretzky in favor of Jimmy Carson because of Gretz's average shot ratings. EA for sure did not bless Gretzky as the best player because it's not easy to score on one timers with him. And really, LA is not the best team because they do have some weaknesses on D. Rob Blake is pretty good but Marty McSorley can be hit or miss at times and he takes a TON of penalties. Subbing in Alexei Zhitnik can help at times, but he can get crushed by heavyweight teams and sometimes mishandles the puck when receiving passes. For SNES, best team hands down is Pittsburgh. None of the starting 5 are under 200 lbs, but are all gifted with good to great skill sets. Speed+Weight+Good Shooting (Lemeiux) = A long game for Pitts' opponents...
