  1. No, I have been to a few games. Right after they opened up the United Center which I think was in '94, go figure, is when I did my boycott for a handful of years. At one time for awhile it was great, they had a student discount plan for tickets being purchased at the door. Show any student I.D. and get a 300 level ticket for $10. That's right, you could just walk right up 5 minutes before puck drop and get a ticket because no one followed hockey. We did that all the time. I miss those days when they sucked. At the U.C. you have the 100 level, 200 level, and 300 level. The 100 level is where all the hot shots sit, the rich priks, the guys who are bandwagon fans and wear suits to the games looking for chicks. The same guys who pronounce Toews, "TOES". Not all, but a lot, especially recently. The 200 level is just a mixture and I think they have private bars. The 300 level is where the real fans are. The fans who followed the Hawks through the thick and thin. The ones who wear the best God damn looking jerseys to the games. Well, maybe the Buffaslug looks cool (what were they thinking?) It's the loudest at the top. That's where all the chants start too, not the 100 level. Those guys feel they pay top dollar and they want to relax and enjoy the game. I'm speaking from experience. And the view isn't bad at all. From upstairs, you can see the whole play developing. It actually benefits you in a way to watch hockey from above. Don't get me wrong, nothing beats sitting on the glass to see just how fast the game really is, and all the sounds. I've had that pleasure once. But when you're a piss poor Polak like me, 300 level for you. I've only been to a handful of Bulls games. Very loud also. You're right about feeding off that intensity Ice Guy. I remember being a kid and at the upstairs level they had rafters that the men would beat and pound on like a drum with both fists as hard as they can. The sound would VIBRATE across the section, imagine that around the whole Stadium! "Bull-shite! doom doom, Bull-shite doom doom! After the ref called a bad foul that the fans didn't agree with. Oh, and the fights with the red wing fans lol. I saw some good ones. My Dad or my uncle would have to hold me tight so I didn't get swept away in the crowd. What a shame. I didn't even get started on the organ. F'in' Dollar Bill Wirtz. The old Comiskey Park needed to go, I could see that, but the Stadium should of been restored like Wrigley Field was. Hell, for that matter the Montreal Forum and the others too. Aren't all the original 6 stadiums gone? I've also saw a show about Bobby Orr in his last years and how his bad knees couldn't take walking up the stairs to the ice level every game. Turn up your speakers: Listen to the Tomahawk drums! Wayne Messmer was actually robbed and shot in the throat and made a full recovery a few years after this. He still sings.
  2. In my opinion, he'll change like he said. But beware (not literally) Pittsburgh fans, you might as well trade the guy now. Once you hit somebody, anybody, where it counts- in their wallet, is when people will change. The problem is now for Cooke, he won't be the same aggressive hockey player. He's not going to bring that intensity for Pittsburgh game in and game out like he has. Every player has a role out there, just because you don't score a lot doesn't mean you "suck" as many people post comments about players that I read. When you have guys like Crosby and Malkin you need a Cooke type of guy on your team who plays like Matt Cooke. The Blackhawks have John Scott, ever see his skating stride? Geeze! Not the best skater but he knows his role- and it ain't scoring goals. Cooke will be second guessing himself from this point on, every shift, every play, every body check. And hockey is just too fast of a sport to do that. A guy like Matt Cooke has been playing that way since the beginning, way before the NHL. He didn't get where he's at by being a 50 goal scorer. And people are going to expect him to be the same after he tones it down? Yeah right IMO. I think he's going to have a tough time adjusting and I think his performance will suffer. But again, what do I know? I'm just a stroke who sits behind a computer and spouts off about the NHL without even making the show. Maybe if I played ice hockey as great as I play '94 I could comment.
  3. It's when you play another person and both you guys use the Calgary Flames and talk about the little green things that live in swamps and eat flies. You battle hard, play as much as 5 games in a row, then you have a rubber match to determine the champion. if you think that's difficult, try the Sabre wars. Those can get a little bloody. Mavs, I'm just kidding.
  4. what did you say? can you repeat that?
  5. Yes, Wags is a good player. He doesn't need Boston to be good. I then looked up Stan and saw he did have Hartford, now this could mean two things two me: Any person will struggle with a team like Hartford or you just gave an 'A' caliber player and great team. Either or, I don't care. I like playing guys better than me when they do feel like taking the 5 minutes out of their precious day, it's the only way you'll get better at hockey, in the game and in real life. In my book it seems you are an "A" player when: 1) When someone below your caliber AIM's you for a request to scrimmage and you just don't even bother to message the guy back and he then looks at you like you have two heads for even bothering to ask the person. 2) You can do the pass shot. 3) You can understand what the f**k GA and MOFAPES means.
  6. I saw that too today, I don't know. But I thought this Stanish guy is a level 'A' player now with Boston. So I don't know how fair this is going to be. The noobs are going to get TROUNCED. Whatever, I just want to have fun win or lose. I'm kinda disappointed, I relish the shalakings I dish out to Wags.
  7. I've heard or read somewhere a long time ago that the Star-Spangled Banner at the 1991 All Star game was close to 180 DB. I've heard it was the equivalent to a F-16 winnipeg jet. Now, I can't say for certain or this is an old wives tale but this has been stuck in my memory for awhile now. I was kinda young and remember thinking it was going to be WW3 when the war first started. What I do know is, the Chicago Stadium was just awesome. I wish some of you guys could of been to a game there. Loud as loud can be. Remember the Roar. Your ears would still be ringing the whole car ride home and I'm not even lying. That's how loud it was in that old architecture. They say the sound was just locked inside the place and had nowhere to go. A ton of books are out there about the Stadium. St. Louis fans, Detroit, Toronto, those rivalries back then, it didn't matter. They all say the Chicago Stadium was the best place to watch a hockey game. I boycotted the United Center for 6 years after that! f**king Wirtz. I finally gave in. When the Hawks sucked, man I miss those days- no lines for the bathroom, no lines for beer- NONE, AT ALL, NEVER. Hockey was D E A D in Chicago after Roenick, Chelios (traitor), Belfour, and finally Amonte left. For a long. long, long time. The Hawks marketing team came out with a slogan a couple years ago that said, "Hockey never left Chicago, but it sure has returned." Something along those lines. WRONG! Hockey left Chicago and in a big way. It was a freakin' morgue in that place. Me and a couple of other guys stayed true all those years. Hockey fans in Chicago were few and very far between. But I can't blame them. Are there a lot of bandwagon fans like Detoilet and Vancouver say? Yes, there are. Vancouver doesn't exactly like us (trashy fans- I think worse than Montreal from the article I've read) and Detroit will say that because of the rivalry so it's cool. -O.T. there is an article out there I read that said Montreal has the worst fans. But, then I read a few years ago Montreal has the most loyal fans. I don't know. But Vancouver fans are just jerks. I've read the Calgary message boards and boy are they right. I can tell you all about Chicago during those years and the fans if you guys are interested, the bandwagon bars, I can disprove any rumors, players who wouldn't sign with Chicago, anything you'd like let me now. What it was like growing up in a BIG city that didn't follow hockey. Try to imagine that. All you guys in Canada who like hockey. It's a weird, weird feeling.
  8. You beat me too it Smozo. I saw Guy in the background and looked up when "The Flower" retired and it was 1991. Too bad he couldn't play for two more seasons to make NHL '94. 1991-1992 and 1992-1993. Some might think he would've had to play 3 more (1993-1994) but not quite, the game takes the stats from the previous year, so he could have retired in '93 and still been in the game with a 172 weight bug, 99 agility, 90 O.A., 75 D.A., 85 S.H., 60 SHOT POWER, and 0 checking. He would've gave Roenick a run for his money. How would you edit Quebec's lines then?
  9. This is a cool thread. And it gets a little sadder by the page as you read on. I don't have any updates aside from this article again: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Dominik-Hasek-wants-8216-one-more-year-8217-;_ylt=Ar67RjT8XzxCf7dOPlwPhqp7vLYF?urn=nhl-wp704, and I'm sure we'll hear any updates about these guys in the near future. My only suggestion would be to put a dash next to the name of the list of players who are overseas/OTHER PROFESSIONAL LEAGUES, and also put the team or city they played for in the game. Just like you did for the active guys/NHL LIST in your first post. Maybe even the RETIRED? I would, but I think it would look cleaner since you can edit it I believe. I also might have to do some research on one or two of the guys to see what team they were on in the game. Yeah, WE know what teams the majority of the guys played for, but over time- years from now looking back, it might be worth it. Plus, who knows who reads your thread (noobs) and they might not recognize all the players. It's up to you.
  10. Up above are the players left from the NHL, but who's left from the game still playing professionally in the KHL? After reading this article: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Dominik-Hasek-wants-8216-one-more-year-8217-;_ylt=Ar67RjT8XzxCf7dOPlwPhqp7vLYF?urn=nhl-wp704, it sounds like after this year Feds and Jaromir Jagr (unscramble the letters and it spells Mario Jr.) are retiring. So, who do you think will be the absolute last player from NHL '94 still playing? Busch league hockey doesn't count. It has to be professional. Are there any guys playing in Sweden? Is that considered pro? What do you guys think? I think Sandis Ozolinsh is still playing in the KHL but that was a couple years ago. Whoever created this poll, can you add a seperate poll in this thread with the rest of the players who jumped ship. I'm also curious who else is still playing. I hear Tony Twist is mounting a comeback.
  11. clean up your inbox, you cannot recieve any new messages.

  12. when you see Roenick coming across the blue line, hold down the 'B' button, close your eyes, pray and hit the 'C' button. That's about the only chance you have my friend. As we say in America, "You're toast!"
  13. happy birthday, how old are you now? since your profile doesn't say. plus, I'm beginning to feel like an old man on this forum.
  14. you pretty much summed it up, they have no depth. it's incredible a team with like a 78 rating or whatever has it all in one line. No words scare me more than when I'm playing with Chicago: OUT FOR GAME When that happens, it's rare, but when it does, you get this sick feeling in your stomach and say to yourself, "oh shite," and you pray Ruuty tooty fresh and fruity and Murphy can pull the slack.
  15. What!? Call people what?! Who exactly did I call and what did I say? Guy, I have NO IDEA what you are talking about or what the problem is with not understanding. I thought I explained already I was being S A R C A S T I C. The 5 or 6 french words that Dan typed in the beginning of his sentence appeared to me to say what I wrote- being funny. Now you're saying I'm calling people names!? Look, I'm not going back and forth with you over here. If there is still something you don't understand, PM, and I'll try my best to clear things up for you.. Whatever you have against Wags, I don't give a flying fluck about, that has nothing to do with me so stop throwing me in the same boat. Man, you must be a blast to have a beer with.
  16. Somehow this thread to a turn for the worse and I think we all need to sing kumbaya and get back to more important things like NHL '94. And if I offended anyone with kumbaya, sorry.
  17. your thumbs must be the size of bear paws if your double tappin' B and switching on the goalie. I know when you play me I make you grip that controller extra tight, but you should seriously relax.
  18. Ok MAV, I'll put a French translation for you: sarcasme remarque, there, maybe YOU can now understand and properly read my post. For my English speaking friends who can't speak or understand French, that means sarcastic remark. In other words, cool your jets, enjoy the humor. That's what I saw in Dan's comment. I know a lot of people speak French in Canada and on this board, I've played them, and met some nice guys. Man, I'm beginning to wonder now about the French stereotype that they are arrogant and uptight. I hope I'm wrong. People need to grow some thicker skin in this world.
  19. and this is coming from a guy who had to "edit" his post that entailed "lol" yeah , o.k.
  20. hokkefan is a raisin, frogs are communist what?????????? wtf? what is this, French? who the fluck speaks French?
  21. Ain't this some funny stuff? The Boston Effect, right Wags? Yeah, you'll need your weight bug team. I ALSO love playing somebody for some exhi games and whooping their ass MULTIPLE TIMES and then them pulling the Boston card the next game.. you know what i mean.. picking Boston so they can weight bug check you to death and keep the game respectable... BUT STILL CAN'T pull off a win.. you know who you are hey at least you'll still keep our secret between us.
  22. I'm really surprised about the limited players who use Mac computers.
  23. "the first thing" you should do is read the forum. There is a ton of info on here as far as playing online goes, a lot of topics are pinned because I'm assuming, the same questions keep popping up and are exhausting to answer. Getting started, Welcome Rookies, etc. It's all real good info. and makes a good reading. if by then you still have some questions post them and I'm sure some people will help you out. they set up download packages for the emulators and roms, and hamachi.
  24. have I mentioned how much I can't stand Thugball?
