  1. "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem"
  2. I can't get this program to work unfortunately. When I try to drag the bin onto it, windows says the program is configured incorrectly or something to that effect. I've tried this on both XP and Vista.
  3. This is great Smozoma. Will post more thoughts on the gameplay after I get to test it out further.
  4. Nice work! I think I could get used to 94 this way. I like the way you've preserved the value of being a light-weight while giving heavier players back their value too. Is there an updated rom with checking factored in? Maybe you could post it in the other thread as well?
  5. Would have to be double elimination to do away with seeding problems. Also, the best place to have this would be Vegas for multiple reasons.
  6. I don't believe anyone has come up with a league generator yet, although the technology is there. Over at the tecmo super bowl forums they do have a site which automates new leagues. It would be nice.
  7. Over the last 10 days I've been more sick than I can remember being in a long time. I've barely even turned on my laptop. Luckily I'm finally starting to feel better so I'll be back and ready for some games starting this weekend.
  8. I decided to make an AIM strictly for '94 use. Please add this to your list: scribe nhl94
  9. The Wild are definitely ready!
  10. This deserves a verse from the Hova ... Look what you made me do,Look what I made for you Knew if I paid my dues,How will they pay you When you first come into the game,They try to play you Then you drop you a couple of hits,Look how they wave to you From Marcy to Madision square To the only thing that matters is just a matter of years (yea) As fate would have it, Jay's status appears To be at an all time high,Perfect time to say goodbye When I come back like Jordan,Wearing the 4-5 It aint to play games with you It's to aim at you,Probaly maim you If I owe you I'm blowing you to smitheriens Cocksuker take one for your team And I need you to remember one thing I came I saw I conquered From record sales to sold out concerts So motherfucker if you want this encore I need you to scream, til your lungs get sore. RIP AJ - a great player and ambassador for the game
  11. I see what you're saying but I also like to check players after a whistle because it gets the crowd going, which seemingly plays into momentum. Oh and if I injure someone I'm definitely going to try to to skate over that injured player. It's not meant as malicious, just good old fashioned '94 fun.
  12. lol, well i don't usually play with sound on, so maybe that's why i'm not understanding the significance of the music. Also, I get to deal with whatever generic tunes are played in my arena, seeing as how I'm an expansion team.
  13. I've always done quick pause/unpause to mean 'nice play'. Typically I'll only do it after a seriously nice set of passes or a sick deke move. Yeah the music stops, but I'm not sure that affects anything. I don't know, I feel like after you see something special on the ice from your opponent it's cool to acknowledge that right then. Also, I don't know if you've guys have noticed me doing this, but I always try to knock off the net after I score or have been scored upon. That really gets the momentum rolling! If you need more crowd noise just hit a few guys, or a net.
  14. Not a long list, just a few thoughts ... 1. I like to quickly see the hot or cold streaks before the game. The biggest reason is my goalie situation, because if Puppa is cold he doesn't play! So please allow me to look at this. 2. A quick pause/unpause after a goal means "nice play" -- at least to me. This goes back to my online 2k football days. I'd like to see it catch on a little. 3. If you need to pause the game for some reason, please don't pause it while there's action going on unless you have the puck in your own defensive end and have yet to initiate anything. 4. If you do pause the game for more than a few seconds, have the courtesy to scroll down to "Timeout" so that your opponent knows it might be a minute. 5. If you need to say something in P2P chat during a game (a lot of people turn off AIM when playing) pause and scroll down to "Other Scores" to indicate that. Typically this would only be needed for lag or connection issues. That's all I have.
  15. Playing recently against a friend, he grabbed 3 penalties on the same call. He already had a man in the box, so he had at least 4, maybe 5 after he got another one. But I'd never seen 3 at once until now.
  16. Yep, completely agree. As long as your score isn't below a certain threshold you should be fine, assuming your connection is consistent and steady. Although these tests are one diagnostic for people having issues.
  17. I think Dmac's connection is just unsteady. Watch when you connect to someone with p2p and you can see the shared ping between you and your opponent. If it sits at say 85, and then repeatedly jumps to 500 for a split second, that spike will cause major problems in the gameplay. There are two things going on here. The first is lag ... When the gameplay stutters or becomes choppy, that happens because someone's connection spikes, where it runs steady for a bit and then slows down for a moment. The other thing is delay. With P2P, delay is locked in at the start of each game based on the ping. The further two players are from each other, the higher the ping will be. P2P looks at your ping and then sets the delay accordingly. For example, a P2P ping of 100 will be set near 4 or 5 frames of delay. Compare that to server play. On servers, the delay is set at 8 frames of delay for everyone regardless of their ping. So a ping of 100 is still about twice as responsive on P2P than any ping on normal server play. And the game should be smooth, as long as the connection doesn't spike fast and slow. That is what the frame delay is there for. While you lose some control, the delay makes it so the game runs smooth and is very playable.
  18. It's a nice solution for those who can't access their routers. I've used it and its super easy to setup and all that. I would like some more performance tests with it, because the free version does encrypt all data, which means it could be slightly slower than standard p2p through port forwarding. But with how fast p2p is, the difference may be negligible.
  19. And smozoma I don't think its necessarily even a low ping, although that will of course improve things, but a steady ping is what really makes these games playable. With hokkeefan and swos, I often have pings over 100 yet because all of us have steady connections the gameplay is great.
  20. I've had great games with swos too. I think the key thing is a steady connection, not necessarily an extremely fast connection. At least with p2p, I can play opponents who I have a high ping with, like swos it's near 150, yet if the connection is steady p2p handles it fine. The problems start to occur when people have connections that jump all over the place. Next time you try p2p watch the ping that it shows when you connect to someone. If the number bounces around, that means at least one person has an unsteady connection. All of those fluctuations are going to make lag and button delays. In that situation your only option is to use the smoothing function and hope for the best. It'd be great if the people who have unsteady connections could look into anything that could be causing it (i.e. other people downloading, router or modem issues).
  21. Nice job on the coaches records Dmitry. For anyone who hasn't seen, check the latest entry on the league site and then click on the coaches link.
