  1. At first glance, the delay in the goalie control does seem pretty lame. But when you take it a step further, it becomes a big differential in the strategy of the game. Primarily due that you have to anticipate your opponents moves ahead of time and make those necessary adjustments. By no means am I saying that this way is better or that the SNES way is worse, they're just different.
  2. I'm really surprised how many people actually play against the computer. I don't think I've done that since '96.
  3. Hey man, I'll get my series done. Who knew you little drewgees would actually listen to reason and finish your series? If anyone sees pill, let me know I'm looking for him.
  4. It would be nice to get the stats loaded in the site for the playoffs though. D, I've saved all my games and so has everyone else. Would you like us to send those over to you?
  5. D, what are your thoughts about what I said about coaches not playing all their scheduled games from the prior season and that having an effect on their draft pick? And by the way, welcome back! It's quite the process to move and get settled in... anyone needs a vacation after that. Donche, thanks for getting back on that. I look forward to seeing it put into action.
  6. I'm a Chicago boy myself and I can't second enough what you expressed ComebackK. Wirtz really is the worst owner in all major 4 sports. And no my Canadian friends, one of those sports doesn't include curling. And JR is one of my favorite players to step onto the ice... not as much for his sheer skill but for his love of the game and ability to fill multiple roles on a team. The downfall of the Blackhawks started when they traded him away. I also wanted to mention that of those 44 players up top, 8 of them (approx 20%) have played for the Blackhawks. I don't know if that stat is all that staggering considering people shuffle teams quite a bit but I thought it was something interesting to just toss out that list. Tony Amonte - Unsigned Ed Belfour - Unsigned Peter Bondra - Unsigned Keith Carney - Minnesota Chris Chelios - Detroit Dominik Hasek - Detroit Michael Nylander - Washington Keith Tkachuk - St. Louis
  7. lol I'll try my best to get ahold of Pill. Glad to see there's a pulse still left in these playoffs.
  8. Halifax, that was honestly one of the best threads I've read in a long time. Great work!
  9. well alright, some progress. i was getting really tired up there on my soap box so I had got down and took a vacation. Pill, lets get this series done my man!
  10. sorry pill. i was on vacation for awhile. i checked in a couple times before i left but i could never find you online. i hope your comment wasn't directed at me about playing the series all at once... i'm just assuming you're busting my balls a little. anyway, i'm down for playing, will be on this week after 6 CST. hope all is well.
  11. Lets not be so quick to blame the developers here. Maybe the NHL94 developers are more accurate than we could possibly imagine. I'm sure Roy, Barrasso and Fuhr got together before the All Star game and agreed to play with their other hand that year. Yeeeeeeeeeeah, that's the ticket.
  12. QUOTE(IAmFleury @ Jun 29 2007, 01:21 PM) I don't know what it is but if you get a COLD Fuhr, you're playing with the best goalie in the league. I know, you would think so. Moreover, in my experiences, Hot Belfour is one of the most inconsistent goalies around.
  13. Hey Donche, I don't think it was that clear in my first msg but I just want to say that's an amazing lottery system you put together. I look forward to hearing your feedback on my input.
  14. I was online through Thurs night. Last night I had to help my friends move in downstairs and i won't really be available until tomorrow. if you see me on, throw me a msg. Otherwise, i'll try looking for you tomorrow.
  15. Nice adjustment... the NHL gods are smiling down on you right now.
  16. I don't know what it is but if you get a COLD Fuhr, you're playing with the best goalie in the league.
  17. Whoa, this is pretty amazing and at the same time, a little too much for me to comprehend at work for the moment. But here's something to consider about the % allocation... I think we need to look at our league to come up with the %s, break down the records into tiers and assign % based on those tiers. Also, I feel that regardless of record, everyone should have a chance at the first pick. I don't think there should be a huge disparity of %s (like the 50% for last place) due that if people are close to last as the season winds down, it would be a factor to encourage them to lose or automatically lose by not playing their games. In turn, that would have an effect on our stats. I still want to give the teams towards the bottom the best chance possible but not with that kind of % variance. Does that make sense? Other considerations: -How do you accomodate for new players to the league? I think they should have a start with last picks or maybe a low % pick. -I also think players who did not finish their prior season games should be excluded from the lottery and automatically assigned bottom picks. With regards to everyone being grouped in tiers [you can refer to GDL recap below]: (mind you, these are just quick guesses and I know %s will change based upon # teams in GDL lottery) I. Top 10 teams in prior season should be grouped into one tier and assigned lowest % - 1% chance II. Teams 11-16 should have a slightly higher % but still low b/c they were playoff teams - 2% III. Teams 17-22 - 8% IV. Teams 23-24 - 15% Team Played Wins 1 CHI 56 50 2 BUF 56 46 3 MTL 56 44 4 STL 56 42 5 DET 56 37 6 NYR 56 34 7 TOR 55 32 8 NYI 56 31 9 L.A 53 31 10 FLA 56 30 11 VAN 56 30 12 N.J 53 30 13 CGY 56 27 14 DAL 56 26 15 BOS 56 26 16 HFD 55 26 17 ANH 56 25 18 OTW 54 24 19 PIT 56 23 20 WSH 52 17 21 EDM 52 10 22 QUE 56 9 23 T.B 56 7 24 S.J 56 5 Don't worry it adds up to 100%. Donche, let me know your thoughts on the % allocation and the other considerations about noobies and coaches not playing games.. As i mentioned, it's important to not establish wide enough disparities that would encourage coaches to dump games in the GDL for a better lottery pick next season. I guess we need to discuss what would be a good balance.
  18. Alright Paper Tiger, how bout you do some less worthless posting and we finish up our series.
  19. Halifax, glad you brought that up. I always like to scroll through. It drives me crazy when people skip it. Honestly, I read it b/c I'm just superstitious. I like to think it gives me an edge for some reason, when in reality, it probably doesn't. And it's a matter of habit for me as well. Good poll.
  20. And NHL94 ruled??? I'm confused with the past tense used there. ;-)
  21. Hokkee, that doesn't concern this thread.
  22. Here's the situation. We have Carse, Habs, AJ, KGman, Gr81, Pill and myself left in these playoffs. It's baffling to think that out of all these coaches, we're the ones not following through on our league responsibilities. We are some of the most active members in this community and yet, most of us are sitting there waiting for things to happen. Habs has been great in getting his games completed. I have been actively trying to plan my games and move this process along (Pill and I have 2 out of the way). But these playoffs are all our responsibility to schedule, play and keep each other on track. If D isn't around right now, so what? He'll be back around soon. In the meantime, just b/c he's not around does that mean we don't know who we have to play? If he doesn't come back for awhile, does that for some bizarre reason change our situation... no. I've asked several guys why they haven't started and the response I've gotten is "D hasn't scheduled the games" or "D hasn't been around". The only thought I had was "What!?!?" That's the best excuse you come up with? So let me get this straight, you're waiting for someone else to let you know what games to play, when you already know who you have to play???? That doesn't make any sense to me. It's disappointing to see this group of guys not grabbing the bull by the balls and making these playoffs happen. With that said, it's time for us to pick up the pace and lead these playoffs like we lead in the season. Start scheduling your games here. I know it's tough with summer but that's why scheduling is even that much more important. Show the rest that you're taking the proactive approach to driving results. We owe it to everyone in GDL to finish what we started this season. Save state your games, save copies for yourself, and email them to D after your series.
  23. Hey Case, I'm all for team loyalty and everything but would you mind sizing that down that signature pic?
  24. Played our first 2 tonight: Game 1: Tor @ Chi 3-4 OT Game 2: Tor @ Chi 2-6 Chicago leads series 2-0 going to Toronto.
