  1. For the Devils, Promote #22 Claude Lemieux for #26 Petr Statsny. For Chicago, Promote #44 Mike Peluso for #32 Steve Thomas. For the Sharks, Promote #29 on D for #48 on on D.
  2. Devils & Sharks are good enough for me. I'll do my line edit for each team/goalie review tonight when I get home (I'm not going to be as late tonight as normal). Look forward to my Detroit matchup as well. I figured after Detroit popped off that big win on your Islanders last night Coach you might be going with them (Barr scored like 4-5 goals himself). I really wanted to take them for my Probert memories of '93, but Chicago was too much to resist plus Big Bob ain't '93 Big Bob anyhow. Devils got some good names in there...Claude, Kirk & a John to go w/ a Fetisov & Kasanotov. Hopefully that offsets the make believe team in SJ for me.
  3. I'm at work today, so I can't look at edits till tonight. I'll do my one edit for each team that I pick when I get home. I was on the fence for using an edit w/ Chicago if I used them in Major, but for Farm, I'm definitely going to put in a bruiser. I think there are a few options (Stu Grimson is probably gonna be my "guy"). I need to review though and decide if it's Thomas or Larmer that get the hook!
  4. Hey guys, I just removed Skip & Labs from the tourney, and advanced through those rounds. Coach Mac plays Darko in the loser's bracket. I'll play Lupz tonight or tomorrow. Loser plays Tex. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_CNlooG6YBuipnOYfp0fe-v6EgWPPcJtt-YGY0TGmWI/edit?pli=1#gid=0
  5. I'm in under any settings. Looking to mash. Also, maybe allow each team "one" line edit only as a replacement for winger, defensemen replacement or Winger switch. That would make detroit able to promote Probert
  6. I think the original questions were not about hockey knowledge in real life, but that the game list numerous attributes through out the years in EA that didn't always translate to the same "in game" results. So, here I firmly believe that defensive awareness & offensive awareness only translate to how high or deep a defenseman/forward plays given the initial position of the puck entering/exiting the zones. I believe the actual progression as the play further develops is more controlled by "at the moment triggers" (proximity to the puck, to other players, chances to check someone, etc.). Aggressive checking defenseman can find themselves out of position fast as they chase a guy to knock him down, regardless of his awareness. One of my favorite plays to get a cheap penalty & stop a break away used to be as the puck started to pass me by out of the zone, my forward now almost being off camera & skating the wrong way, was to c check towards the defensemen/net. Bourque/Stevens/etc, aggressive types couldn't resist the counter check and would often get a penalty, killing the break away. On a rare occasion, I'd miss the d-men, and hit the goalie, getting a penalty while also giving up a goal! I play a lot with Bourque, and lately both Bourque & Manson, as I have them in on my GDL team, and I laugh how often I catch them leading my break aways or worse, behind the opponent's goalie without me ever controlling them (this happens with me NOT carrying the puck with them either). BUT, my point being, 95% of the time, their high defensive awareness (Bourque is 6 and Manson 5) has one of them parked in front of my net, but as the puck gets moving around, their aggression pulls them into other parts of the ice, and to me, the programming doesn't rank defensive or offensive awareness so high it overrides the "other" interactions. I think these other interactions lead guys to believe that awareness doesn't work. It does.
  7. Next time you guys get together for a league, let me know if you've got room for old Brute. I'll be ready.
  8. I'd like the idea of B check ALOT more if it also took stickhandling into account for DOING it, not just defending it. So, Gretzky should be the best B checker & most immune to it, unless done by another level 6 guy. Either way, once you get used to playing w/ a set of rules, it's hard to take one of them out. Personally, I equate NHL94 to being like playing an arcade version of rock, paper, scissors. If you don't have enough options, it's lame. If you have too many, the game becomes too complicated and less fun. For me, I grew up playing w/out penalties on since my older brother hated how random they were, and I never learned the art of the B check. It took me over a year to get used to using it/having it done to me, as I had 20 years of playing without it. So, whenever I join a league w/out it, I mash my C button in great glory

  11. Double check lines, etc. Posted to update the Ice/Tex trade & the Brutus/Tex trade.
  12. No line edits w/ penalties taking out your best player....that's rough! I forgot about that. Can't remember if Hull was RW on that '92 team or not either. Great post here though. It's got me regretting not playing that league now
  13. Having just played a lot of Classic, I can attest to me, they act just as goofy. Guys go stand in the corner, take a water break or something The other day I had a 4 on zero break away (which I of course blew). My brother & I used to pause games all the time back in '93/94 playing on Gens to laugh at some of the hilarious positions we'd catch guys in.
  14. Seth upfront lets you know he normally needs more than one night to finish a series, as he has serious issues w/ long term focus. In his case, I fully understand. I think 90% of the time the more realistic issue is getting two guys to line up for ONE night together, and normally, the guy waiting so long rarely wants to retire for another night knowing it might take 2-3 MORE weeks!! Again, if a guy didn't "have it", and he had the nerve to ask to start another day/night etc, it's kind of hard to say no. It's not like you are sitting next to them and can call their bluff. Realistically, calling them out has merit, but I can't see this as a mandatory rule. I also would PREFER to stretch it out (like real life series w/ the extra drama of the delay & adjusted strategies), and have talked to opponents about doing it before, but in the end, hardly anyone can ever STOP once you start!
  15. next "fix" / update, ive got Gartner now, who is #22, and also that was the number for Luke Richardson on this team. I can't remember if Luke was #22 originally. Anyhow, need his number changed to something else. Thx.
  16. Darko won game 1, 4-3. Brutus picked up the next 3, 7-6, 6-1 & 2-1. Ggms Darko. I'll update google site.
  17. How has raph given up fewer goals but labs gaa is half? I'm tired this morning & maybe I'm misreading missing something. Also good luck labs. No offense raph, but I'm getting odds on my bet w/ labs!!
  18. Sent you a message in aim. I'll be around tomorrow, but in & out type thing so try to reach out to me a few hours before you'll be ready so we can try to coordinate it best.
  19. Guys, feel free to use whatever version of GDL rom you want. 98% of all rosters, minus Lupz I don't think changed, but I'm quite certain everyone would prefer to play with their current version, and since Mac is the only guy using someone else's team, and Raph's team didn't change, current V24 or whatever it is at works for me. Hopefully, you guys get your series in tonight. CoachMac plays the loser of that and Lupz plays the winner, so try to set up your series as soon as your games are done, as season is coming shortly. I'm PM'ing Darko to try to set up our time to play.
  20. Chicago (Brutus) vs Buf (Jagr) Chi 9-2, Chi 8-3, Chi 4-3 (ot win) Ggms Jagr.
  21. This documentary is looking awesome. Great write up AJ. Really got a feel for what that trip might have been like had any of us got the same hair brain idea to run off to the abyss for that tourney as well!! I made a New Year's trip to Iceland once, and totally related to that part about waking up w/ no sun & frigid temps and nothing around! Also, all tournaments with alcohol available probably end with the BEST drinkers finding a way to the top of the board by the end Again, that looked like a slam dunk, great set up, great videos, great write up. Thanks for the entertainment guys.
