  1. If we make it to 100 weeks, i'm cracking some champagne open.
  2. These playoffs remind me of sleeping beauty. They will forever be dormant unless a series of unlikely conditions are met.
  3. Sundin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1u-XtTql1c Team Canada
  4. I'm pretty sure we can't "make him". It's his call, and maybe he just doesn't have enough free time. This doesn't affect me anyways; I'm in the SNES league.
  5. Added to the list dmac, and onlinepools is what I had in mind .
  6. Fair enough. However, I do expect to see you in FVHL, or so help me god, i'll...call you mean names.
  7. A hockey pool is insanely simple EA. Much less complicated than fantasy hockey league. All it is is at the start, each team/person drafts players from the NHL. Then, the players stats from the 07-08 season make up the points for that person's team. Example, I draft Sidney Crosby for last season. He had 36 goals and 84 assists. Since both assists and goals are worth one point to a team, that means that my team got 120 points. And then i'd add up all the other players points on my team as well. It requires no management whatsoever by the coaches. You just draft the team, and let the season play out. Whoever got the most point at the end of the NHL season, wins the pool. Playoffs are not included. It's just for shits and giggles and bragging rights, although i'm sure we could decide on a prize.
  8. Suprised this has never been brought up (From what I can see). I'm wondering if any of the vets here want to start up a hockey pool for the upcoming NHL 2007-08 season. Obviously this would just be for fun and braggings rights. The rules are simple: 10 Teams (May expand depending on interest) Each team drafts 10 players (7 Forwards, 2 Defensemen, and 1 Goalie) Draft is 10 rounds, snaking draft, with order randomized Draft will be done using a topic, and the deadlines will be relatively loose. As for points: Skaters goals = 1 point assists = 1 point Goalies wins = 1 point shutouts = 2 points Then the team with the most points at the end of the season wins. I know of a good, simple site for this. Anybody interested? You can consider this to be signups. Post with Name (To be used at the team name) E-mail Do you want weekly updates by e-mail Yes/No I don't mean to sound harsh, but i'd prefer this to be a vet only thing. This doesn't mean that you have to be a insanely skilled 94 player with amazing records in leagues. All I mean by 'vet' is that you've been with the community for a reasonable amount of time, and preferably have played in at least one league, althought this doesn't really matter. Current Teams 1. Logan 2. Dmac 3. SSiG 4. -empty- 5. -empty- 6. -empty- 7. -empty- 8. -empty- 9. -empty- 10. -empty-
  9. I have been known occaisionally to turn off the sound and put on some 'pump-up' music. Lot's of hard rock and such. I have to say, it does cause an effect. I got the puck with Sundin just when the very heavy chorus started up again, and I managed to dodge 4 checks and do a wicked deke. It really gets you going.
  10. Guys, it's clearly a self inflicted wound. He lost to the AI using Washington. Therefore, an offering of blood was required. To all you newcomers, if you lose to the computer while using Chicago, you must perform the ancient japanese ritual of seppuku.
  11. Angryjay is, in my eyes, at the very least in the top 3 of best overall NHL 94 players. He dominates in GENS, and look at how he's doing in SNES. He's taking a team that looked like they were done for and is bringing them back into the playoff picture. He's on a 18 game winning streak. As for myself, I think I run somewhere between the top and middle of the vets. I'm good, but the day I can bring down Jay or EA 2 out of 4 will be a huge accomplishment for me.
  12. Does anyone else notice how horribly derailed this topic became?
  13. trudatman, get the 1on1 rom, play agaisnt the computer with the worst goalie possible and a scrub. If you lose control of the puck, switch to the goalie until you get control of the puck back. It's a decent challenge if you play the allstars.
  14. Keyboard ever since I started playing nhl 94 on the PC. I can't see myself switching to a gamepad for awhile.
  15. They couldn't connect to you Wags. Look, there's a way to make it work. I don't blame you for getting frustrated, but if you wanted to, fenty or someone similar could sit down and walk you through it. It works for everybody else in the league, with very few exceptions. The system works, you might just need to change a few settings first.
  16. Cmon Carse, he's got you here man . He doesn't have to get far in the playoffs to be right. I was seconding what Dmac said, to clear things up.
  17. I was waiting for someone to show and complain about that. Stan, learn to play defense. Just because me and Dmac "agree" with him doesn't mean we're kissing his ass. He's an a**hole to you because you give him good reason to be. Not to mention, read your post over. Who's being the a**hole here?
  18. It's crazy that people sometimes forget that this is a online league for a decade old game, and the point of it SHOULD be to have fun, while still have a bit of competition. This gets a bit too ridiculous sometimes. I tried to reason with him, and to get him to apologize. It didn't go so well.
  19. Carse is a class act, I remember when I got booted out of the 07 league while on vacation, he set the wheels in motion to get me back in. Granted I still dropped out due to complications, but it was still a great thing to do. As per actual gameplay, i've really only played Carse in league play in the draft league. 2 4-3 losses for me, but still damn good games. And cmon, everybody can agree that Carse is damn entertaining.
  20. http://youtube.com/watch?v=qXDkt2Z4DjU Dr. Pizza's commentary on the end of the league. Be warned, if you were in the league and you left, you're going to get bashed.
  21. NES - Donated to my Grandparents house for when the kids get bored. PS1 - Same as NES XBOX - Still sitting at home SNES - Stolen The SNES being stolen is actually an interesting story. Burglars broke into our house, and despite there being an Xbox (with 4 controllers and countless games), and a fairly small but very nice flat screen TV sitting RIGHT beside the SNES, the SNES was stolen along with NHL 94 and 2 SNES controllers. My favorite part is that another 2 SNES hockey games (Stanley Cup Hockey was one, can't remember the other) were left sitting right beside it. In fact, i'm positive the burglar took Stanley Cup Hockey out of the SNES before leaving. I wouldn't be suprised if the burglar was somebody on these forums .
  22. I know what you're talking about. Hextall doesn't ever become amazing, but strangely, he plays better with a cold streak than hot streak, or so it seems.
  23. Deadline right now, my mistake. Theres one for Mike and Jay's series, but not one for all teams. Agreed, there needs to be a deadline, but stop bitching to D about it. Ask him to set a deadline in a reasonable and legible manner, and he will. Constantly harrasing him and making insults (or compliments? Sometimes your motives are iffy) isn't going to make him want to help you. Set the deadline for Friday, I say. Round 2 hopefully be gone with by monday.
