Once they have protected a player, another player on their team is fair game. So, for example... 01 - HFD(donnybrook94) picks Sidney Crosby - forces PIT(jrodimus31) to make a protection pick 02 - DAL(smozoma) picks Alexander Ovechkin (didn't want someone from PIT) - forces WSH(hokkeefan2) to make a protection pick 03 - CGY(Rage93) ... wants to pick Malkin, but can't until PIT(jrodimus) protects a player 01 (protect) - PIT(jrodimus31) protects Evgeni Malkin 03 - CGY(Rage93) picks Marc-Andre Fleury 02 (protect) - WSH(hokkeefan2) protects Alexander Semin etc... draft is now open... when you make your pick, please do what you can to contact the next person on the list, and the person whose team you took a player on, to tell them they need to make a pick/protection Edited June 3, 2009 by smozoma Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Once you do that you've hit the 'max one player lost in rd 1 rule' you may protect another player of your roster for round 2. I asked Smo that last night. If you pick a player from your own team in the first round, you can made your 2nd-round protection pick right away. In the first round, if one of your players gets drafted, then you need to make a protection pick. You can trade draft picks and players you have already drafted or protected.
