OK you guys definitely know your stuff. I was perusing the official 1989 Megadrive/Genesis software guide and came across a few tidbits that relate to this. I took some screenshots. It seems to me that its also possible to change the display scroll window size and dimensions. It would make sense since they would want to have the capability to render and display a vertical game (like a shooter). They mention that in the manual. Although I don't believe sega made any vertical (display) games for the genesis, although maybe they did in Japan. But such games wouldn't display properly unless paired with a wide CRT (put vertically in a cabinet) which they had back in the day for special arcade games. According to the manual, the machine renders the game (mostly) on a 512x512 square, but only 320x240 is displayed (the display window). This is to account for scrolling or moving to the right horizontally, or going up down vertically. Obviously you know this but, I wonder. You said it may only work in a emulator if its possible and that probably is true, but the hardware (from what I've read) may have been technically capable, even though they never used it. I mean everyone used a standard 4/3 display TV in 1989 so it would make sense not to bother with that feature. (480i 8x16v + vert display) I honestly don't know enough to make total sense of it, hence I'm forwarding this info to more capable individuals. LOL the rabbit hole deepens.

I think you're thinking of '93, which yes, totally is blown out of the water by 95 (and 94).

Okay guys a small break through. I've begun playing with replacing the NHL95 sprites with NHL94 sprites and I've almost got the goalies done. It took some time to find similar spots and with everyone's knowledge and information posted thought the years has really helped. Ill be posting some screen shots/video of the game play. If all works out. Ill do the players there after.

I will be honest, I haven't looked at updating the editor in a while but I will look into this now that I know ppl are interested. I too, loved Madden 98 on Genesis, as soon as the games went o PS1 I didn't think they played as well. I remember a few years ago when I thought about playing Madden 91, 92, 93 with updated rosters, I was sure someone created an editor but was shocked to see no one had at the time. So it was a lot of fun putting the editor together. Will definitely keep you guys posted on when I can get this working for Madden 98 player names.....

I've been working on the college 97 for a few weeks. Also college football national championship as well. Madden 98 I've found how to update names as well, along side the editor. Its twice work but I've done 12 teams so for.

Joe Montana Sports Talk football was my GAME at as a kid. Oh man so many memories, the funniest was when you did a FG attempt on a 1st down in your own territory or something and the commentator's like "they line up for the field goal on the first down and I CAN'T BELIEVE IT" LMAO still cracks me up to this day. I created a Sega Genesis Madden Roster Editor a few years ago for anyone is interested. I actually got to talk to some of the designers/developers of the Genesis Madden games from 91-98. This helped me program the player attributes. I do have an updated Madden rom from 2017 with Panthers and Jaguars, I spent a lot of time creating this roster editor, I'm hoping you guys enjoy....sped up the game a bit as well, I always thought the game played a bit slow. http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/1241/

Great work, Ultra, but I think you were working off some old roster data because the Islander player numbers are inaccurate: #50 Adam Pelech should be #3 #19 Derick Brassard should be #10 #42 Scott Mayfield should be #24 #72 Anthony Beauvillier should be #18 #14 Thomas Hickey should be #34 if he stays in the game, but should be replaced by either Noah Dobson #8 or Andy Greene #4 if we're using bubble rosters.

I meant more in the complete experience (season, awards, etc.) But yes 95 with some of the 94 visuals.

A few days ago I started a project of hacking NBA Live 97 from Sega Genesis. I will convert it into FIBA World Cup (no year) with up-to-date rosters based on the event and performances of the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China . What I have done until now is modify the names of the teams, insert a few logos and modify three rosters (for Spain, Argentina and Brazil). It is a project I am working slowly and I want it finished before summertime. I have to recognise I don't watch too much basketball since 2009. So, what I need for this project is someone who was an expertise on international basketball: Must know most of the players. Players main attributes. Players Strenghts and Weaknesses. Concerning I want a very realistic game, I want realistic attributes and skills of the players. Below there is a list of the national teams that there will be in the hack (ordered by FIBA ranking): 1. USA 2. Spain (finished) 3. Australia 4. Argentina (finished) 5. Serbia 6. France 7. Greece 8. anything to do with 95 is a waste of time... 94 art in 98 would be the way to go
