  1. I have one cartridge that I've been playing with since I was a young lad, and then I have a second cartridge and SNES console in their original packaging stashed away in a box made of led inside a safe which is locked inside another safe which is buried inside my nuke proof bunker. crap! maybe I should have included a TV
  2. Gotta go with Mats just cause it's Mats and I feel bad for him.
  3. LOL. what sort of white stuff?? I understand the cat though. My dog I'm certain has been the cause of countless losses of mine. The couch also. Sometimes it just really gets uncomfortable to sit in and then I lose..
  4. he did mention to me that he was going to play real hockey..so at least that part of his story is true. The thumb.. who knows? I am sure he is also scared to play a little. But really you should both be scared...
  5. I'm not sure if I like the added incentive to race through your 40 games. I completely agree that there should be incentives for finishing all 40 games and within the deadlines, but someone who is a little busier but still plays according to the deadlines should get as good of a chance as someone who decides or is able to play their whole season in a weekend. I personally don't like the idea of a season going by that quickly and not everyone can devote so much concentrated time to playing. I think there should be some sort of compromise. What if your chances of picking teams for following seasons are made worse by the number of missed deadlines and DNPs?
  6. Just finished my season. Thank you to stheds for coming back to play our last three games. Can't wait for the playoffs, there's a tough group of teams here!
  7. Hey dude, we must have been missing each other before due to our different time zones. I've definitely been MIA for the last week tho and for that I apologize. My availability for the coming week will at the very least be every evening [EST] from 7ish to 11ish but I will make special effort to find and play C4outlaws first during the times that he mentioned. I also might be available to play games tomorrow [sunday] morning but i'm not sure yet.
  8. Shouldn't I get 38 points? Tryin to cheat me hali?
  9. This has been the first time in over a week that I've been able to access the forums without some sort of directory error. Problems seemed to start happening right around when all the spam was happening. Any updates? There's also no longer any dates or times of postings on the main page.
  10. So not quite official just yet but everyone's saying it's as good as a done deal. Sounds pretty sweet to me. Now where can we get tickets?? http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2012/01/18/report-2013-winter-classic-at-the-big-house-is-a-done-deal/
  11. I know nothing about this league and have zero experience with GENS 94, but perhaps this is a good opportunity to start learning! Is it more or less like playing SNES?? Sign me up if you're still looking for a replacement. What games do I need to play?
  12. Darn, I was always trying to get that guy to play me.. Can I take on a second team??
  13. What do you guys think? When I was growing up and playing 94 with my friends some phraseology that was perhaps all too common was, "so f**king cheap!" "what a cheap piece of s**t goal!" or something along those lines. This was usually out of frustration if anything else, because no one likes getting scored on, least of all on an annoying cut-across goal that you know you could have saved had you reacted just a moment quicker. Those days were long ago and I've come a long way since then. Thankfully, the cut-across is not the only weapon in my arsenal, but it certainly still has its place. It was once cheap, but now it is just another way to score. How do you guys feel about this? No reason to focus on just the cut-across goal. Any kind of goal for that matter. Is there any way that you would prefer not to score, fearing ridicule and accusations of being cheap? Or is it all fair game - Any way to score is acceptable and only reflects poorly on the defending team, whose cries of "cheap" are just a way of masking their own inadequate defense and goalie skills? I for one believe that it's all good! Sure, it might be a bit lame if someone only tries to score with the wrap-around/cut-across, but then it should quickly become easy to defend against such a tactic. If every potential goal can be stopped then no goal can ever be cheap! (except maybe when a player gets an interference penalty and a goal at the same time..)
  14. Check it out: http://www.retrode.com/ Not sure if it would allow people to play each other online..but maybe a fun new way to play by yourself? Or maybe just pointless and you should keep downloading ROMs..
  15. It's hard to say that one is better and one is worse. They are just different types of 94play. But since I had to choose one, I decided to vote for offsides on for the following reasons: They make it slightly more difficult to score, which to me equates to a slightly more challenging game. There's a time and a place for high scoring games, but I generally prefer a tighter challenging game between opponents on this site. The stuff that really gets your heart pounding. They also seem to act as a bit of an equalizer (although this might be because when I play people with offsides on, neither opponent is totally used to it so neither one can stand out as extremely dominant) I'm sure over time some players will play much better with offsides than others, and their general skills will standout over others, but ultimately it does become harder to score, and with lower scores there are closer games, etc. That being said, it's certainly not impossible to score, and although there are some annoying computer induced offsides, I welcome the added challenge of head-manning the puck as qucikly as possible out of your zone, and the added strategy that's required as you move up the ice. A little more thinking, again more challenging, I think it's what we should all be moving towards, rather than getting too used to one style of play. Sure the computer's mistakes can be frustrating, but that's part of the game with or without offsides. I'm thinking here of that idiot player who aimlessly skates into the goalie and draws a penalty, the terrible defence if you can't switch to them in time, and of course the many foolish ideas of the automatic goalie if you don't switch in time there either. I'm not too worried about the other cons mentioned here about offsides, such as the glitchy offside one-timer goal that can be scored. How about when a player gets an interference penalty but is still awarded a goal? Just gotta laugh at it and move on. Checking a player to keep the team offside? Sounds like good strategy to me. Anything that can be done in the game should be. This includes bopping the net off if you're desperate, and even the much loathed and "cheap" crease-cut-across goal. If the opportunity is there then I say go for it! And that's the end of my rant.
  16. oops. Thanks for catching that. I'll update the changes in my post

  18. That's actually not what I said if you look at my previous posts
  19. I guess I'm the 1% then that doesn't have a cell phone with internet. don't even have call display... You shouldn't quit. If you quit then who will make trades with me?
  20. I'm not saying everyone should take 24hr or even 12hr. I agree of course that everyone should be making their picks as fast as possible and I just want everyone to know that that is what I am doing and I haven't been taking this long for each one of my picks. Unfortunately it was just especially hard this weekend with the way my work schedule ended up. I know I could have made arrangements with someone else on the site. I'm sorry I didn't, but I didn't have time to think of it or make it happen. Anyway, just know that I'm trying my best. I'm still checking the site first thing in the morning or first thing when I get home and I think I was rather speedy with my picks during the week. But so that everyone knows/can prepare themselves, I won't be able to make my pick until after 3:00pm EST. Was hoping to make it now but things haven't progressed yet. So I will have to wait until I'm back from work.
  21. People need to relax a bit. I'm sorry I haven't been the speediest to get my drafts in but that doesn't mean I'm any less committed to this league. It just means that I don't have constant access to my computer and the internet 24hrs a day. If you look back at the draft history you'll notice that I've made every pick within my allowed time except for round 2 when I was confused about the rules and as a result went beyond my 12 hours. Since then I have made my picks within time. I made my picks within six hours then three hours, and was prepared if I had to to make picks within 1 hour. I think that subsequent rounds should have proceeded on an hourly basis but different rules were decided. I don't think the draft system has been perfect and suggestions should be made for the next go around but I have great respect for dan for taking this on. The system may not be perfect but nevertheless my picks have stayed well within the deadlines that have been set for round 5 and beyond. I won't pretend that I'm the speediest at getting to my picks but I'm doing my best. Many of those 12 hour periods when I didn't pick spanned over the nighttime so let's try to keep some perspective. I fully respect all of you who get your picks in superfast but let's try to keep calm. Not everyone can keep the same schedule. We live in diferent parts of the world. We hold different lives. But we're all here for one thing. We're gonna get through this draft and it's going to be great!
  22. is sharksaddict going to make a pick? If I understand the rules he should have made his pick 20 minutes ago?
  23. I second that motion. My current pick and my fourth rnd pick for paul coffee and hokkeefan's fourth rnd pick.
  24. Please comment if you had similar confusion, because if so I think there should be grounds for me choosing my own pick based on the fact that the rules weren't clear. "If the limit time to pick is on the night, we will report the time after midnight (or the last pick time) to the "pick time" at 9h00 AM" The part at the end of this led me to believe that my start time would be 9:00am not 1:39am ALSO, Mike Gartner is not the next best player overall that was available. So..I don't want to be annoying but I'm just looking for consistent rules here
