  1. Yes, anything that adds some modicum of detail to a game this old is worth it to me. Still trying to figure out how I could excise the helmets from the skaters and goalies for throwback edits.
  2. Played some epic games for the ages of late with 2ndandbowery using your divine creation. Had the most fun in years playing this game; if not ever.
  3. There's a myriad of different ways to accomplish a desired effect with everything Photoshop, and fortunately there's keyboard shortcuts for everything that can really accelerate the process..But the fastest and easiest way would be to use the curves adjustment, and smart sharpen for the player cards. Here's the "system" (if you could even call it that) I used when I did the 500+ for my 91 edit, time being the main focus. 1st. and most obvious you need to get the still of the player your looking for. legendsofhockey.net is a great resource and has a picture for pretty much every player who ever played the game. 2nd. Once you find your man open Photoshop and take a print screen of your player instead of saving the image to your HD. You save time not having to import it into PS. 3rd. Open a new canvas (CTRL+N) 48x48 set to grayscale and paste (CTRL+V) your pic into there. Then free transform (CTRL+T) hold shift and drag on the upper left corner of the image to scale it down until you get the pic to fit how you like and hit enter to apply. 4th. If you image is flat or lacking contrast use a curves adjustment (CTRL+M) and adjust the the line on the grid making points (click on the image if there is a certain area you would like to lighten/darken and you will see a phantom mark for where you should adjust) and dragging them until you see what you like. Enter to apply. 5th. The image may still not be very sharp so you can apply a sharpen filter (Filter> Sharpen> Sharpen). If it's not giving you the detail you want hit it again (CTRL+F) until you think you've got it. 6th. Now you can save for web (CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+S). Personally I find saving as .png usually gives the best result for me. Since your not going to be optimizing the palette here you can save with 256 color. Don't close the file in PS until it's imported it into TM, this way if the image didn't render well you can apply some more sharpen/curves and overwrite the file until you get what you like. Using this method along with the keyboard shortcuts can enable you to bang out a pic and get it into TM in under 30 seconds once you get the hang of it. Regarding the logos: I should have sometime next week to make a detailed tutorial if you can hold out.
  4. Updated 9.30.07 Here's the custom build for the upcoming season of 2on2. Details for the settings used can be found here in the 2on2 the Thaw thread. Screen shots Download Updated 9.30.07 League rom will be available here until the site is completed.
  5. Did you get the patch sorted yet? Let me know when you get the rosters finished and we'll get you started on the logos and banners.
  6. Impressive work SY, though there are some things that can be improved. The menu logos you did don't look very crisp, this probably has to do with not optimizing the logos and pallet(s) before you imported them leaving TM to do the majority of the rendering. Basically the BGR values in the logo are different from the values in the particular pallets. I have a method for doing them that ensures getting the best aesthetic result possible. I'd be happy to share it with you if you want. Glancing at the rink logos real quick they seem to have the same defects, TM was forced to do most of the rendering since the colors in your logos didn't match the uniform palette(s). It's best to using as many variations of a hue as possible when doing a uniform since the more colors you use in the uniform palette the more detail you will end up with your logo, and uniform too. For instance you only used one color red for team Canada. Had you used a darker shade of red, a lighter, and then a lightest your uniforms would have more depth and would make you logo would look much better..It's hard enough trying to make anything looks presentable with 8 or 9 colors. Come to think of it I should probably do a tutorial on this Wboy gave me a massive grid with all the tile offsets for editing the crease if you want to change it to the right era lmk and I can explain editing the rink tiles. Finally you should zip the rom if you want to make it an attachment. I don't think this forum supports bin attachments. Don't take it personal SY I'm only being objective and I know how much work goes into one of these. You know I'll to help you in any way I can. Great job, and I look forward to the next release.
  7. Goulet to be honored with men's room plaque. Head coach Mick is honoring Michel Goulet for his services (or lack their of) to the Chicago Roenicks with a plaque in every men's lavatory above the urinals. Goulet is expected to polish the pine this season after a poor training camp in which he couldn't catch the chicken. Then during the teams 1st game he was laid out for the period in which team trainer Mr. Miyagi had to perform a healing rub. Mick issued this public statement on Goulet during the teams 1st home game "It's the least I can do for this, this, bum. Now get the hell out we got train'n ta do!" In other news the new visiting locker rooms are nearly complete. They've been redecorated with pink and purple hues over the weekend and the new ad campaign in which Chicago refs will sport Lens Crafters logos should be ready for the teams next home game. Finally the Roenicks are off to a 3-0 start despite not playing their top game. "It's a collective effort." Says Roenick. "I score, pass, check, 1 time, and make saves too..It's all about the team concept."
  8. Egads! For the, you got, theres like, by the power of Greyskull, all the player cards, Geo Spectra, apply directly to the forehead, Dr Zaius, know what I mean Vern? Flyn saucers, calll libertyy rrrrrr *Spontaneous combusts
  9. Elected to use 1280 x 1024 because I felt it would be most common for users here. If you have a player in mind for that wide resolution, let me know.
  10. Never liked the stripes, always thought they looked like Croquet uniforms. And they were part of the 91-92 season along with the 75th anniversary patch.
  11. Alright guys got your banner, logo, and uniform set. Still need your positions, player #'s, goalie #'s, and name. edit: Handedness too.
  12. Turgeon calls it a career: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=217632&hubname=
  13. Voc and I already decided to use the '87 Pens with the yellow unis but I like the concept of randomly pairing teams together. Still 2on2 is a different animal from the original game and there is a chasm in skill level for players who are new to the format. Two rookies could get paired together and they would end up being the sacrificial lamb until they master the ins and outs of the game play. I also think it would be very frustrating for a player to get paired with someone they have no synergy with. Finding a teammate your comfortable with is the easiest way to keep everyone playing imo, and in the process players will develop a 6th sense for each others skills the more they play together. I'm not adverse to random teams but I can't say that I'm convinced it would be better than just selecting a parter you already know will mix well with your style of play. Far as the edit goes this is what's concrete: Swos style retro net (bubble style). '94 style crease. Hockey tape sprite patch. '94 style (star) player icon. Coach names to replace player names. '94 style puck. Original 2on2 player ratings. Blue ice. Any NHL team logo and uniform from any era. 2on2 intro screens All of this stuff above will take no time but I can't move forward with any logos, unis, teams, or player data until I know what the teams are and who's on them. Since we are using coaches names to replace the '94 players I also need to know what the goalies names, and numbers will be, and which position each coach is playing and the number they want. I should have some time later this week to get cracking on the rom and site.
  14. If you remove player data by shortening a players name or removing a player all together then yes. But I don't think any bytes are freed up by leaving a position empty on a line. In case your wondering auto bytes in NOSE automatically moves the free bytes to the player or team your editing.
  15. Should have mentioned this before: All EA Sports games after the '94 campaign have problems linking up with Kaillera. Maybe this has to do with the duration between the games credits and menu is pretty long and the players idle..If Kaillera doesn't detect a player (pushing buttons) for a while it assumes someone desynched. Can't say for sure since I've never really tried to figure out why the newer EA games do this. Using a emu with peer to peer like Kega Fusion is probably the way to go for using NHL '95 or later EA Sports games. Good luck.
  16. Thanks for the kind words. Since you guys like them, I'll do a few more I had in mind, one will have all of the member names. If anyone has a player they would like to see in a wallpaper, let me know. I'll come up with something when time permits. Evan: you're more than welcome to add them in your wallpaper page if you want to.
  17. It would be a travesty to change a team like Montreal or Detroit's crest, they're awesome in every way. Still most of the fan mock-ups are far better than what some of the clubs decided to use, and that's not saying much for some of these teams...As the old saying goes you can't shine s**t.
  18. It's cool. Especially if your into reading braille. btw: It needs a fanny pack to really set it off.
  19. Hey I like the idea of using our names think you proposed this before, what's the verdict on this guys? Far as the player cards go I developed a fast method for doing them when I did like 500+ for my 91 edit so they're no problem. However the game does crash if they cycle past the starters. And whats the consensus on using any teams or any era (unis / logos)?
  20. The attachments get fouled up sometimes. You can get the 2on2 rom here. Just take a look at the lines in NOSE and you'll see what I did.
  21. This does qualify as a glitch too since it's exclusive to Vancouver only.
  22. Thought it would be kinda funny to make some wallpapers with the game sprites. They're all 1280 x 1024. Messier Yzerman Roy Roenick Mogilny Lemieux Barr
  23. There's been a surge of interest regarding 2on2 in the last week or so mainly because of all the new guys like: Sungod, sebe, pcp420 and others. It's every day now I check the server and find guys playing 2on2. Which is basically what I've been waiting for, now that interest is peaking again it's time to defrost 2on2, or take it out of the mothballs or whatever. As I alluded to before, this season will have a custom dedicated rom and I will build a site for 2on2 but I'm to busy right now for either of these. For the time being we can kick around some ideas for what you guys would like to have come season 3. Hopefully some of these things I mention will keep people involved and interested in 2on2. I had previously mentioned having a rating system where players could build their own teams with an alloted number of points. This is still a potentiality but not that important since all the ratings are already equal. Speak up if you would like to see this type of thing implemented. Ideas for season 3: 1. Legacy Format | Classic Ratings: Coaches will be able to pick any NHL player, living or dead and pair them with any other player, on any team. So for instance: Guy Lafleur, Wayne Gretzky, and Martin Brodeur could all be on the Canucks - in throwback or current uniforms and logo. Keep in mind ratings are classic (equal). Of course there will be new intro screens, and only league teams will be selectable from the menu. 2. Custom Rink: Which style crease? What kind of net would you like? Should the sprite patch be added (hockey tape)? How about player icons, classic star, circle, or doughnut? And what type of puck, '95 PC style, swos mini puck style, or classic '94 style? 3. Addisonbr's league format idea: Here is more info. Depending on the feedback; one, all, or a combination of the aforementioned can be used for the upcoming season. I'm interested to hear what you guys have to say. And this isn't an official register, but if you would like to play in season 3 then state your opinion. Thanks.
  24. Very cool concept but someone will end up being the fat kid with LA Lights that no one wants on their kickball team so to speak. Will definitely kick this around some.
