The cost of the hosting/domain comes out to an average of around $5/player per YEAR. That's peanuts, even for students, for an amazing league that can realistically have 2 seasons a year. Having thought about this a little more, it starts to make sense that the survivor league would cause this reverse result. It seems like the prevailing strategy is selecting weaker teams against weaker opponents, and strong teams against stronger opponents. Look at the most frequent opponents chosen and record in the East Division for the top and bottom guys in standings: Josh (1-30) TB: 7-0 SJ: 5-1 NYI: 6-0 KingRaph (27-7) MON: 1-4 BUF: 1-3 I think you'll find similar situations in the West...gonna see if this theory holds up. Disagree about the slapshot Is this different from '94? The Goalie Ram is a tactic used by a lot of '94 players. 99% seems high, it really depends on the player and goalie. Absolutely true -- as a person who prefers '94, I was just curious what some of the '93 fans had to say. '93 is a fantastic game, but the consensus is that '94 is better -- because most people feel it's the '93 game with great upgrades. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts -- I'd be glad to play some exhibs of '93 with you if you catch me on AIM. Still not committing to a season though. Now THAT game is definitely different.

For me, the lack of goalie control is more damaging than not having one-timers, as it's just way too easy to score. Not so sure that the gameplay is "completely different" than '94 (at least on GENS). I'd argue that they are very similar, and with one-timers and goalie control in '94, what is the appeal to play '93, other than it's something different? I haven't really played '93 competitively, so I'm curious.

Man, I can recall that horrible feeling of firing up the Genesis, flipping through the "exhibition, playoffs, new season" options... hmmm, where is "continue season". F...M...L. Even worse was Baseball Stars on NES, as that investment of time was much more extensive.

It's also a little unfair for coaches who happen to be busier in life than others may be, but still get all 40 games in and meet all deadlines in multiple leagues in multiple years (i.e. me ). I understand it's an incentive for people to get their games completed, but racing to get them in doesn't make sense to me.

Yup, that's how I understand it to work as well. I also think waiting is an advantage (see post) But in your scenario, 11 of 12 people got their first choice, and that's great!

What if you get PHI again?

Is there a way to hide the top 5 team selections in the waiting list, until you've made your selections? It's an advantage to register later because you can assess your odds of getting a particular team by seeing what others have chosen. For example, if I want to have either CHI or DET, I can see that 5 people have listed CHI as their #1 choice, and 3 have DET, it's better to select DET first as I have a better chance at getting them. Or, do I want to guarantee myself DAL because nobody has them first, or go with a 25% DET shot, then DAL, etc, etc. Basically, having information that others don't is somewhat an advantage.

I share your concerns Sicarius, but let's see how it starts to shake out. There's no way you'll be in C (if you are, I'll protest right next to you!). Of the 11 returning players in B, I may move to A (if I can squeeze in), you and Rammer already replaced two guys, and Patstew finished 2-38, so he should be in C. At the same time, A had 16 last year, so 4 have to drop to B. But let's see -- it all depends on who returns, etc.

I took clips from our 6 game series and slapped it all together in this video. Nothing fancy, just clip after clip with some default music. It's like watching 6 games in 10 minutes.

BUMP! Vote if you haven't! So far, 14 of 19 preferences are to go up, and 6 don't care. I prefer down, though I'm not sure if I actually do better. Perhaps home ice advantage is nothing more than the majority of people play better going up?

Haha...that was my first post ever on the forums (same day I signed up). Didn't comeback until the Spring'11 classic (Halifax spam)...all that '94 action was right under my nose!

Played alonzi a few times...solid B leaguer for sure, this guy will tear up the C league this year. My early prediction.
