roughly how many guys from PA are on this site? I would be shocked if you would be the only guy going. I hear PA has the most guys. That would be a shame. But I really think the '94 community should set up a live tourny somewhere central for everyone just in case. Say, this tourny above takes off and becomes really popular. That would really suck in a way. By that I mean, we would be asking ourselves, "why didn't we set something like this up first?" We are the website dedicated to the game and we couldn't set up a live tourny first? I have nothing against this guy doing it, i think it's great. But I think the home page here needs an extra link at the top stating '94 Winter Classic. Man, that would be cool. We could keep it central like I said for everyone, or every year switch. Post the location a year in advance for plans. One year Montreal, I would love to see Montreal, next year Chicago, etc. Hamilton or Toronto, Buffalo, Big major hockey cities like that where it kinda works for everyone. Rent out a bowling alley or something and have trophies.

Ok, we thought we noticed that! I actually like it better. It's such a small change but a good noticeable difference. Well, we played 3 more games and the penalties were 6, 3, and 5 so I guess it's normal. We'll see what the other players say when/if they chime in.

smoz, question about the new rom version. I noticed an increase in penalties being called. Thought it was a one game fluke but it's not. Would the checking rating change somehow have something to do with this? I was averaging 2-3 penalties a game for each team to 8, 7 and 6. I played three games to be sure. That's a huge increase I noticed right away. Anybody else notice this. Pay attention to your scrimmage games and let us know. Check out the game stats at the end and write them down please. Also, I noticed the guys don't seem to fatigue as fast. Maybe I'm wrong because I don't see how adjusting the checking rating would affect that, but it appears to me and my friend to be that way.

Well, you really don't need statistical evidence to know that Jassen Cullimore is not better than Keith and Seabrook. No sir, never, ever. And Campbell is not faster than Keith. So I was led to believe that whoever does these stats really isn't looking at percentages, rather, total goals and assists, their reputation. I could be wrong on that though. But it seems if a player had a great year they gave him good stats in the game and vice versa. Now, Datsyuk has a 99% STKHNDL in the game, c'mon, what % supports that? And really what % supports OA and DA or shot pwer? So I don't think I'm out of line saying it's bullshit about the defensemen's ratings and Sharp's shot power. Now by SH% I assume you mean shooting %. I'll try to look up some well known players in the league and see if it is consistent shooting % in the rom as in real life. If it is, then you steered me in the right direction about Kane's shot accuracy, because really, that's the only stat that % can affect I think. So I'm curious now. This should be fun to look up. I'm hoping I don't discover a player with a worse SH% than Kane but with a way different rating. thanks for the info. I'll get back to that when I have some time.

at 1:19 I say the same thing when I hear the '94 intro music begin to play. I'm surprised it's staged, it seems so real to me.

Ok this is what I've noticed now that I'm tinkering with my lines and maybe some of you who follow your teams have concerns about this as well. Let me ask, who gave the ratings to these players? And how, what did they go off of? Something is telling me that they took the ratings from the '11 or '10 EA sports game for Xbox version? Because this doesn't add up. For instance: Duncan Keith- one of the fastest D men in the league, competes in All Star fastest skater competition. rating 79 Now you might think what's wrong with that until you see Brian Campbell has an 89! Should be switched. Jassen Cullimore has more D awareness than Seabrook and Keith! lol Patrick Sharp a 62 shot power wtf? Top 10 goal scorer? Top 15 Don't even look at Kane's shot accuracy, a guy who can snap shot a puck in a plastic cup from top of the circles. And Hossa's stats label him as being retired already I guess. I'm not going to bore you with the rest with the not so famous guys. Look into your team and tell us what brazen numbers you see. I haven't checked out other teams as of yet. Detroit- a guy like Rafalski who had to retire because of an injury plagued season this year has a higher rating than Keith and Seabrook. I'll be going through most of these teams just to see some obvious GA ratings. No big deal, since I don't understand what goes into making these type of roms maybe they have to be like that.

I'll add two more again I guess.. 1) the no line change dump (aka the Chris Campoli special) 2) no icing when goalie pulled by opponent if anyone else experiences anything let us know. I know for a fact others will come across the Campoli special but am curious about the icing.

Drivers and NHL '94 What does a driver do? How does/can that affect your game play online as far as lag issues? If you really want to have some fun and get lost open up your control panel and start searching from there trying to find what kind of driver you have. Holy Christ! I went in circles and still don't know what version I have. I ended up on XP help/search screens and stuff. Good golly miss molly. Anyway, I'm not having issues with my computer but I was just curious. I'm always looking into how I can maybe make the game run smoother/better for online play, for other opponents who play me. What are RAMS? Does your computer automatically look for updated drivers and download them? I want the latest. What versions do you guys like? Are they free to download? What site do you recommend? thanks.

It was incredible! 1 goal seperated us. That's it. Definitely same skill level you can say. I felt that I was running out of options to score on you as the series went on. And Modano, Courtnall and Broten were so f'in hard to knock down at times! great series, good games. Let's team up for SUMMIT B!!!

played dcicon yesterday and we desynced the first game. I then sent him my version of the rom and no problems the second game. other than the no line change part when you hold down A. Rob, you posted the rom we are using to download right?

ok I meant to ask Smoz about this awhile back. I have experienced a similar issue, but not specifically with this rom. I also will get the hyper fast menu screen, it goes so fast when you tap the controller left or right that it's nearly impossible to stop it on manual goalie, penalties on, except offsides... etc. but once I start the game everything is fine. This is for classic I'm saying. Also, if I play someone else online, this issue does not occur. Only when I practice myself. Try leaving it like that, and play someone online and see if the menu screen is fine that way. I odn't know what that means, but process of elimination gets us somewhere. Also, I forgot to mention. This only occurs when I unplug a controller from the computer. For instance I have two controllers plugged in right now. Classic is retrousb gen controller and nhl '11 has to be my bullshit broke ass $10 logitech controller because it has the extra buttons for instant goalie control. So I have to swap controllers for each rom I play and reconfigure every time. Here's the weird thing. If both controllers are plugged in, menu screen is normal. But when i unplug retrousb out of #1 slot to swap in logitech in #1 slot the hyper screen appears. but if I plug the retro in slot #2 the screen is normal. To make a short story long, i have to keep both controllers plugged in, why? I don't know. If I leave one out , menu screen is fast, but it's not affected during online play. Maybe this helps?
