  1. Hullie: your "favorite way to score" gave me a good laugh. thanks!
  2. I play consoles as I don't have my own computer. so whatever an iso is, I can't use it.
  3. someone needs to upload a video of the gameplay of the Sega CD version. all I could find was this intro recording (which is now my new favorite song!).
  4. Tikkanen Messier Kovalev Lowe Patrick Richter sometimes Turcotte for Kovalev
  5. got really drunk and tried this. Boston with Kvarltnatonsvladslavechichekislov instead of Juneau and Wesley at RIGHT d. versus LoScandalous. got to 91. very possible, as I had 39 in the first but slipped into a stupor. might try again if properly intoxicated.
  6. I want to play against you. damn my lack of an online computer. I don't suppose you are ever near Worcester, Massachusetts, USA... I like a challenge and I think you COULD beat me. those who dismiss the SNES version are so misguided (I'd bet they all believe in a god or gods and vote for social conservatives); it is infinitely better than the Genesis version (which I find unplayable, except for novelty). maybe I'll try the 100-point challenge after you prove you can do it with a real team against a great AI team.
  7. 111. no intentions of trying the new contest.
  8. SNES - 5 - P. OFF - L.C. OFF - D.C. ON - MANUAL
  9. ...NHL '92 is much better than NHL '94 (for the Sega). SNES NHL '94 puts all other hockey games to shame, but NHL '92 is fun. NHL '93 is better then the Sega '94, too. can't see how most of y'all are here for loving that nonresponsive piece of garbage. <cough>defense control<cough> ... <cough>goaltender control<cough> ... <cough>agility<cough>
  10. I play SNES NHL94 in Worcester, Massachusetts, USA. if you live nearby (or are vacationing hereish), feel free to contact me for a game or thirty. if you know you are going to be out this way, plan ahead and PM me for my phone number (or email me at: titlesong [AT] gmail [DOT] com) before embarking. I am beatable, but I win more than I lose. holler.
  11. my SNES died last year and I FINALLY got a new one ($40!!!!!) last month. I have about 20 NHL94s. for a while I was pasting 1994 Rangers hockey cards to where the sticker was on the game. my favorite is Messier holding the cup over his head. I know, this had nothing to do with batteries (SNES version ain't got it), but I relates to other topics in this thread. be well.
  12. did it again today. SNES console. 102. ASE vs. ANH. my goalie pulled (which gave me Turgeon). Bourque got injured in the 3rd, slowing my pace a bit. L-Mogilny, C-SuperMario, R-Recchi(?), LD-Bourque, RD-Iafrate, Dsubs-Stevens until I noticed he was in, then Wesley who contributed very little (was subbed on the right with Iafrate moved to the left). I was 0/2 in one-timers. I'd say ~65% were dekes scored on the left, coming in diagonally from the left (right of goalie, from the defensive point-of-view). ~15% were the opposite direction (slightly more when I was heading downscreen for the middle period) and ~20% were cut-acrosses. I intend to upload screenshots when my roommate shows me how to use his camera/computer uploading processes. the tricks are: reload until Hebert is rated 62 (I think he was 64 for this one) and ASE are "playing extremely well" and your intended players are listed as hot and theirs are cold. pull your goalie. let them score if the get into your zone. it takes many tries to get the perfect ratings setup and I had no patience for that today. not as good as my 109 from earlier this week, but breaking 100 can be done. I try to get a goal every thirty seconds and I keep track of how far off of that pace I am for the current period. I find it harder with ASW (I get to about 94 goals with them). rock on with a sock on.
  13. Smyth is a 29 (usually) on the SNES. what team is Wamsley on?
  14. for SNES, if you skate into the goalie and lose the puck and it goes in, there is no shot. I often have 120% shooting averages.
  15. Genesis: slow response to button pushing kills it. this is important in fast-paced games! new teams had the same players as the teams they got them from; lame! almost impossible to switch to the goalie in time. SNES: play control, agility, passing, goalie access; all plusses. downsides? I guess the framerate is the major weakness, but I'll take a game that I can control over one that makes me wait to see what I tried to do. also, the SNES version has one goalie for some teams and three for others... that kind of sucks (I forget if the Genesis version has more than just Richter on the Rangers). consider this: I am a console player; I have both. I play the SNES 1000:1 over the Genesis (meaning I've played the Genesis version ~10 times).
  16. I used to edit Zelda games with zquest (Zelda Classic) and always dreamed of doing the same with NHL94SNES. I see that it can be done, and I'm sure I could learn to do it, but I don't have my own computer. anyone who feels like putting Jake Howard on the Rangers and sending me the means to play the rom would have my ultimate appreciation. if you feel like doing this, I offer you anything from my CD trading list in return. list is at http://amorica.us and my email address is titlesong [AT] gmail [DOT] com. holler!
  17. I just tried this this week, and it is what led me to join this forum. I scored 109. SNES NHL 94. 20 minute periods. ASE vs. AMD. pulled goalie. I love this game!
