  4. Nice work dmitry. I'm ready to pick now, let's get this thing rolling.
  5. How many teams are we going with for season 2? I'm for having 20 teams mainly because the more we have the harder it could be to find replacements for inactives. But obviously it is your choice Dmitry. Either way I'm confident this league will stay successful.
  6. If you are behind routers you need to port forward the port that Kega uses in your router setup (checkout Kega's readme file for this port number). You also need to setup a static IP address for your computer, otherwise the router won't forward the ports correctly everytime. Go to portforwarding.com and pick your router for an easy, step-by-step guide on how to do that. Once you are both setup like that, you just write down eachother's public IP addresses and enter that in Kega's netplay setup. Go to ipchicken.com to get your public IP once you have your router setup as described.
  7. That is kind of what I thought. I also wonder if aggressiveness plays into that as well. And in determing how often AI defenders are out-of-position because they chase the puck-carrier leaving holes in the defense, I think aggressiveness and maybe def. awr play a part. If an AI defender has high aggressiveness it seems like he is more apt to chase the puck than play his position. I'm not exactly sure on the breakdown for that in terms of how it relates to def. awr. but I'd be interested in finding out.
  8. So if I'm not on the list and I would like to join up for Spring League should I register on nhl94online.com ? Right now the registration says 2006 fall league.
  9. I also like the conference scenario but the East does look noticeably more stacked than the West in that breakdown. I wouldn't be opposed to having no conferences either as it would probably make for a better playoffs.
  10. Aim: Scribe99 Last year: Jets Team wanted for season two: NY Islanders (Btw, I'm on vacation right now until March 5th, if I don't reply it is because the wireless I'm using went down. It's gone down a couple times so far.)
  11. I'm also wondering how draft order will be determined -- random or based on last season?
  12. I asked a reknowed TSB hacker about this idea and I thought I'd post his response in case anyone is also interested in looking into this: Jstout wrote: I haven't ever hacked a genesis game before so I'm keeping this fairly general. You'll need to read up on the genesis opcodes and how the genesis games read the joypad buttons. From some quick search at romhacking.net: There are two one-byte data sets: v & 0x40: always set v & 0x20: C v & 0x10: B v & 0x08: right v & 0x04: left v & 0x02: down v & 0x01: up and: v & 0x40: always clear v & 0x20: START v & 0x10: A v & 0x08: right v & 0x04: left v & 0x02: down v & 0x01: up By reading a word from 0xA10002 (for first controller) or 0xA10004 (for second), the word will have one of the above bitmasks written to both bytes. If you write a byte to 0xA10003(for 1st) or 0xA10005(for 2nd) with the 0x40 bit set, you'll get the first set, otherwise you'll get the second. Example: Player 1 is pressing left and the A and B buttons simultaneously. Player 2 is pressing B, C, and START. As the game, in order to probe controller 1: - I send byte 0x00 to 0xA10003 (or word 0x0000 to 0xA10002) - I read a word from 0xA10002, which gives me 0x1414. From the lower table, I see A and left are being pressed. - I send byte 0x40 to 0xA10003. - I read another word from 0xA10002. This time I get 0x5454, which from the upper table means B and left are being pressed. Similarly, to probe controller 2: - I send byte 0x00 to 0xA10005. - I read from 0xA10004, and get 0x2020. So START is being pressed - I send byte 0x40 to 0xA10005. - I read from 0xA10004 again, get 0x7070, so B and C are being pressed. From there in the game you'll need to trace or search around the commands for the joypad until you find where is says "if button A is pressed then go do this" and at that point you could switch the button or switch the function to go do. So it appears you need to start by searching for A10002 to A10005 in the rom.
  13. Thanks for the responses. Kega has online support now and I am pretty sure it supports save states online. I made a save state of an offline game, uploaded it to the 94 box score site and it worked -- so none of the infrastructure for stat tracking would have to be changed. I have not tested this out online yet but playing 94 offline felt very slick. At the moment I'm on vacation so my internet access is going to be unpredictable, but I definitely want to try this out with some people. If anyone tries it out, let me know how it goes. I think this is worth checking out even if it's more complicated to set up. The server options aren't that great on Kaillera if you don't live on the East Coast, and online it might play a better game.
  14. Now having some online experience with the Genesis version, here are some thoughts: - Right now it's hard to find a good server if you live in the Mid West or West. Most of the decent ones are based on the East Coast. - The connection setttings (Good, Excellent, Lan) do make a huge difference in the gameplay. I tested this out by making a server off my pc and playing a 1 player game through Kaillera. The best way to describe this is with Tecmo Super Bowl. On the default setting (good - 20 keystrokes) my players felt very stiff. If I started running straight they would go straight for a lot longer than they should before I could make them turn. Upping the keystrokes to excellent felt much better, and of course Lan was perfect control. With a precise game like 94, these settings are bound to have a huge impact on gameplay. - A lot of people are of the opinion that Kaillera is a buggy pos, but I guess it gets the job done. I haven't had too many problems, but I don't feel its the ideal solution for online play either. - I recently tried out the Kega Fusion emulator (newest version: http://www.eidolons-inn.net/tiki-download_....php?fileId=228 ) It is hailed as the most accurate emulator out there. Playing an offline game of 94 felt perfect to me. I have to say it is better than Gens in terms of replicating the console. - The online play for Kega is straight peer-to-peer. One person acts as the server and the other connects to that person's public IP address. It looks like save states are enabled for online play. It also has a latency slider to address control issues. The obvious drawback of this type of online play is that people have to actually set up their IP addresses and their router. There are two basic steps, you give your pc a static IP, and you setup your router to forward ports to that IP. I went to portforwarding.com and it only took me about 30 minutes to setup with their tutorial. It is not hard to do at all. - I think playing with the Kega emulator may be best online experience out there. You don't have to go through a 3rd party server and you connect directly to your oppponent using the most accurate emulator. No more searching for servers and dealing with their bugginess. I think 30 minutes spent setting up your internet connection could be well worth it.
  15. Definitely record it. I know Takeyourpill has the capabilities to record, I've seen the tourney vids on youtube that he's posted.
  16. The idea is to hack the defensive controls to swap the controller functions of A and holding B, so that pressing A would result in getting your goalie and holding B would result in performing a hook. One of the reasons to pursue this is that it is arguably more important in the game to gain quick control of your goalie than execute a quick hook. Looking at the SNES version of 94, one of its major advantages is the quickness with which you can manually gain control of your goalie. Also, I think it would feel natural to be able to both poke check and hook with the B button. I have some experience with hacking but only with Tecmo Super Bowl doing various edits through changing hex. I'm speculating that if we knew where in the hex the defensive controls were located, we should be able to just swap the code. However, I really have no experience in locating functions like this. I tried looking at the rom with a tracer, but I couldn't make any headway. If anyone has the know-how to be able to find something like this without a tremendous undertaking, I think it could be an exceptional hack to try out. Just an idea.
  17. I have to say that the teams in this series were probably the two toughest I faced this season. Great Win AngryJay. I'd be interested in hearing BHF's recap of this series too.
  18. The playoffs should stay at 7 games imo. When people finally decide to play their series it takes just over an hour anyway. These playoffs are going pretty slow, which is skewing a bit how smooth the season actually was. I also hope that we can get the the next draft and season underway pretty soon. A lot of owners have been inactive for quite awhile and are itching to play league games again. It seems like we have a really good group of players so there should be no problem getting the games in once we are able to.
  19. I did basically the same thing that has been suggested, but when it begins to load, it bounces back with a d:\ pointer 3 error .
  20. I downloaded the 95 zip and successfully unzipped it. I have dosbox running as well. So far I can't get the game running. Not sure if I have to compile an ISO file with the unzipped files or or what exactly. Help is appreciated.
  21. Has anyone experimented with the connection settings using Gens through kaillera? You must have the same connection setting chosen to connect with other players and it seems that everyone leaves it on the default setting - Good (20 keyframes per sec). If you change your setting to Excellent you are at 30 keyframes per sec, LAN is 60 keyframes per sec. I did a little looking on the kaillera website and it appears that if your connection can handle it, upping your connection setting to Excellent or LAN would result in a smoother game, closer to playing on a console, because you are receiving more feedback per second. Obviously the people you play would have to switch their connection settings too, but as I think my connection could handle at least Excellent, I want to know if other people would consider making the switch or at least experimenting to see if we can have a truer experience when playing online.
  22. I would definitely be interested in watching the games if you guys happen to record them.
  23. Updated Bracket (again): Senators vs. Flyers Flyers vs Penguins ------------------------ Wales Finals Canadians vs Penguins ------------------------ Stanley Cup Finals Canucks vs. Blackhawks Sharks vs Blackhawks ------------------------- Campbell Finals Sharks vs. Kings
  24. Sounds good dmitry. And I know this is getting ridiculous but instead of Buffalo I want to pick up the Islanders. I just realized I can't stand Buffalo's jerseys. So I guess the Jets and the Sabres are still open. I will now shut up about this until after the season.
