  1. well, the Genesis hacking section can help you to understand how to make those adjustments without the editor. it's certainly not super simple, but I don't think the Genesis editor is all that easy, either, and doing it directly in the hex data isn't too hard. if you are only trying to make a few adjustments to make it more enjoyable for you, editing the hex values directly may be the way to go.
  2. I'm assuming some of his hacks have broken the editor compatibility. to clarify, are you trying to make the brackets line up for the later rounds? I'll be checking mine for that compatibility tomorrow night. skip, will you be doing the same? or are you trying to do roster/lines changes?
  3. exactly. please know that it is appreciated and that some of us share your goals.
  4. I love that you are so passionate about keeping up with the project that you have already added players to the teams they are LIKELY to go to! good luck with the player cards; that's quite a process, even if you manage to automate a significant portion of it. right?! the dude is on it like a bonnet AND he does a killer job. (I'm responding here to push the current ROM thread to the top, so folks don't go with the outdated one by accident.) oh, hey... what's with dudes from/in Massachusetts being the ones so passionately dedicated to ROMs and roster updates? is it just a coincidence?
  5. couldn't you just reply to your other post/thread? why did you feel the need to post this separately, in its own thread?
  6. Jaromir Jagr's one-year one-way 2016-2017 contract extension with the Florida Panthers is for $4,000,000.00 in base salary with up to $1,500,000.00 in games-played bonuses. if he plays up until the end of the regular season next year, I shall win the time period, too. if he plays in the playoffs, I'll have won with a large margin, even though I jumped in and made my selection well more than two years later than most participants. what a career! I have him rated a 95.4 for this season -- wow!
  7. Jaromir Jagr's one-year one-way 2016-2017 contract extension with the Florida Panthers is for $4,000,000.00 in base salary with up to $1,500,000.00 in games-played bonuses.
  8. I'll pass on both. thanks? I think it's interesting that segathon's list features zero NHL '94 incarnations and that two-way KinGraph's has no SNES NHL '94... not even in the honorable mentions! off to play some Lockout Simulator!
  9. example shown: note the differences in the sticks -- where some parts are blocky and others are smooth -- and the shoulders of the players shown. see how the lines are sometimes filed down to curves/diagonals? I like that. if I remember right, some similar options produce blurrier results like you are showing. if this is what is going on, it's an easy fix. if it's not the problem, I doubt we'll figure it out for you. good luck!
  10. hmm. and you don't have any in-emulator filters activated? it may be a graphics processing thing, part of your hardware. it smooths the pixels, which I like, but it is also a bit too blurry. I choose a similar look in the emulator I use, but, while it smooths the pixel edging from blocky to pretty, it doesn't blur anything. I would make sure the emulator filter preferences aren't doing it, but past that... good luck!
  11. wow, wow, wow. I got a custom-made cartridge, of a previous season's ROM, a few years ago, from a member no longer around. it needed to be redone because it didn't work 94% of the time. it was made form a donor cartridge. it had an okay label. this one, that I received in the mail today, is perfect. it's got a killer label. it's made of entirely new parts. it works exactly like it should. we have a cartridge maker among us. I hope he sticks around and decides to offer up his services to the community. if he does, you will not be disappointed. I am abandoning my own attempts to make these things, because it isn't easy and I will not do this well. I'm not really satisfied with my old ROMs anymore, as small errors I missed went unfixed until I forgot what they were, and my formulae have improved significantly since those were created, but... I think I may have hard copies made for a full on-shelf collection.
  12. if you have them separated by "then," -- seemingly to show an order of preference -- can they really be tied? I think not.
  13. ten? ten might be too many. how about eleven? NHL '94 (SNES) NHL Hockey (Genesis) NHL Hockey (PC) NHL '94 (Sega CD) NFL Blitz 2000 (PS) NFL Blitz 2001 (PS) NFL Blitz (PS) Ice Hockey (Atari 2600) Ice Hockey (NES) Blades Of Steel (NES) NHL '94 (Genesis) I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but that's what comes to mind.
  14. seriously... forgetting to -- or choosing not to -- mention Lemieux is really strange. he's not perfect, but nobody on that team is really much better.
  15. he is "South of the river." buk-CAWK!
  16. I guess that counts. I had forgotten about the pass shot through the five hole. I'm not sure how I forgot, as that has always been a huge pet peeve of mine... maybe it's because I don't have a Genesis anymore. good stuff, guys. this is a fun thread.
  17. right. that was clear. I just mean that, from there, it depends on where you shoot. have you had any instances of the game crashing or glitching or acting weird after you score with zeroes showing?
  18. depending on where you shoot from. slam dunking it? eight or nine seconds. straight deke and shoot? six or seven seconds. faceoff onetimer? four or five seconds. under six seconds is rare, even if the faceoff is in the zone, but I don't think you can do better than four seconds from the center ice spot.
  19. that's totally a tactic covered previously. ....how to search for that? maybe "wipe." found a quickly hijacked thread about it, but the pictures are all gone: http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php/topic/13325-winning-faceoffs-with-the-goaltender/?p=106838 here's something I stumbled on in the search that relates to the main topic, but not that subtopic: http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php/topic/11285-online-etiquette/
  20. it happens in all of the versions, I believe. I've had plenty of experience with it happening on the SNES. I've had "too much" experience with it happening on the Genesis to believe that it is all that rare. think of it this way: there is no tenth-of-a-second display functionality, so there are no FULL seconds left, but.... for the SNES, I think there is one frame of time where it can be zeroes and not yet the end of the game. for the Genesis, I suspect it is a slightly larger window. I think the Genesis version more frequently (than SNES) leads to quirkiness. can some of you Genesis guys confirm weird stuff, on the console, at least? for SNES -- both console and emulator -- these types of goals very occasionally lead to weird registry errors or bizarre quirks. it was so long ago that I can't say for sure it was with no time left, but it was such a similar reaction to that scenario that I suspect it was: I scored a hattrick with Kevin Lowe -- number 4 on the Rangers -- and some of the hats came down as the number 4 (and maybe D's, but, again, it's been so long). can anybody tell stories of weirdness like that on any system? I think it's more common to have 0:00 goals allowed and to have strange stuff happen in relation to it on the Genesis, but I'm no Genesis expert.
  21. oh. huh. well, mine tells me it's recognized as an eleven-button (not twelve) controller. then I have to use the keyboard. therefore, I would figure such a program may help. I don't have one going, so I am not confirming it. (yet?) good luck and be sure to let us know how it goes.
  22. you should be able to use an additional program on your computer to tell it that your controller buttons are the same as whichever keyboard commands are required.
  23. yeah, word. it's just too far for my car. I've never been to that area. Albany and Buffalo areas I have done. looks beautiful and it would make a fun trip if I had more faith in the vehicle.
