  1. Another rough week in work. However I have completed ANH through TOR regarding the rosters and lines. I just have VAN, WSH, and WPG left to do and then I'll be able to start working on the attributes. I think this will take the longest as I have to research each player's stats during the years they were with the team they appear on, consider any accolades during these years, and compare with other players in the league during the same time period.

I'm getting there guys...I'm getting there. Stay tuned.

  2. I'm slowly getting there. Busy season is starting to slow down now that school is back in session. Rosters are finalized from ANH through QUE. Hoping to get the rest completed by the end of this week. Then I can begin working on the attributes based on CoachMac's post here:

    https://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/18123-ratings-template/

The final part would be to put all of this into the ROM. I may work on jerseys and stuff like that after the initial release. I'm hoping to have this done, realistically, by end of the calendar year as this is my first ROM. I may be reaching out to some of the vets here when(not if) I run into some hurdles. :D

  3. It’s the busiest time of the year at work from the past few weeks through September. My updates may be a little delayed but I am still working on finalizing the roster and lines where I have some free time during the day. ANH through FLA are done but I’m not posting anything quite yet. Stay tuned buds.

Looking for 26 snes players for a league on the nhl94 website that chaos will put up using therealnhl94 ROM created by xstioph. The ROM and player ratings are slightly different from the usually one adding a little wrinkle. The teams are updated with trades made at the deadline in 94 and the ratings are updated based on the actual 94 season stats with accurate rosters, as the original game was made after the 93 season. There is only a 20 point overall rating swing between the best and worst team, so the teams are more even than the original version. We will have a 26 team draft with the lower rated guys getting the top picks. We will have 2 divisions of 13 teams with (East and West) for 74 game reg. season (4 games in division and 2 outside). This will be penalties, no offsides, and line changes. Top 16 (8 in each conference) will make the playoffs. This will most likely be put on the site after classic ends soon. Let me know who is interested as spots are limited.  Can create a second league if there is a lot of interest.

I’m in. I thought I marked it on discord. Are there multiple instances of the same team?

How bad is the lag on bluetooth? I have the first 2.4 G 8bitdo SNES pad.  It was fine for SNES mini and for usb to pc.  But I needed a pad to connect to real SNES hardware.  I was thinking of the new 2.4G pad above.  But it was not available.  So I bought the 8bitdo BT snes pad and the blue tooth retro receiver.  Haven't had chance to test out the BT yet.

Have you had a chance to test the Bluetooth lag yet? I’m trying to make a purchasing decision on either the Bluetooth 8bitdo to usb receiver into my pc or the 2.4 wireless 8bitdo with the original snes receiver and plugging that into a snes to usb convertor and into my pc. It sucks because 8bitdo does not have a 2.4 snes wireless to usb receiver option at the moment. The reason for the push for the wonky 2.4 set up is because I heard the lag is drastically lower than Bluetooth.

Dumb questions here: is this for SNES? Are you even able to put 32 teams in the game if you wanted to? For some reason I thought the max number of teams was 28 based on the original team ROM.

Not a dumb question at all. It’s for SNES but I got lost in Gens talk whoops.

  7. As I've been working on the rosters and lines something I was thinking about was that I was originally planning on using the regular 28-team ROM and having teams 27 and 28 be some sort of All-Star team combination.

    For 28-team ROM:

    • North American Vs. World All-Stars
    • Original 6 All Stars Vs. Expansion All-Stars
    • Pre-1980's Vs. Post-1980's All-Stars

If I were to use the 32-team ROM I could include the two all-star teams I was planning for the 28-team ROM as well as some combination of the newer expansion teams such as the Wild, Blue Jackets, Thrashers/new Jets, Predators, Golden Knights . I would probably just use the first four since the Golden Knights are practically brand new.  Another idea while typing this would be to use the 32-team ROM and create an A and B combination team of say, Wild/Blue Jackets, Thrashers/Predators, and still have whatever 2 all-star teams I wanted to use in the 28-team ROM.

Otherwise I could use the 30/32-team ROM to create 4/6 all-star teams, maybe split the era's up a bit more? I don't know. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    I vote no.

There are good arguments for either side. Gretz and Mess are obvious. But there are a lot of other players that could easily show up on multiple teams.

I think I'm going to keep this within reason. I'm not going to have guys appear on every single team they played for. They would need to have played a significant amount of team and had a decent impact in their years there. For example Coffey would appear on EDM and PIT. Probably not on DET as they have other deserving D-men from over there years.

I might be biased but when I made the SNES WHA Rom I out guys in multiple teams. It’s a much smaller sample size but I gave those guys different rating depending on how they performed on that team.

much like you’d give gretzky a higher rating in Edmonton vs Los Angeles.

I didn't even think of this. What a great idea having slightly different attributes  depending on that team. Now I can have Turgeon tentatively on BUF, NYI, and STL! LOL Thanks @halifax!

My food for thought was/is that If I’m a Oilers fan, for example, I’d be annoyed if I can’t play as Messier as he helped them win five Cups.  As a Rangers fan, I wouldn’t play this without Mess as he is a legend for the franchise.  Same mindset applies to several players.  You’re doing the “best of” for each team so how do you omit some of the best players that define those franchise’s histories?  Just saying...

Doesn’t mean I’m right.  Go with your instincts.

Exactly! These two guys are the main reason this has been bugging me. I think I'm just going to have great players on multiple teams within reason. Thanks for your input everyone. Back to the drawing board!

  10. Okay gentlemen I'm at a fork in the road. I've been debating for a while now on whether players should appear on multiple teams for this All-Time Greatest Team Rosters ROM. What are your thoughts? I'm going to tag you all as you all have been very generous with your suggestions thus far and I'd like for it to be decided on almost like a board of directors lol. I know it's 'my' ROM but I'd like to have your say in it since I'm hoping many people will play around with this ROM and it may be better than having one person's opinion and then collecting dust due to difference of opinion. Having players on multiple teams will definitely strengthen the teams but will obviously eliminate other players. Once this has been determined I will proceed down the road we select and make roster adjustments as needed. The longer I've stood my ground on one player, one team the more difficult it's been.

I would also credit anyone whose rom you work off of unless you plan to do all of the ratings, hex edits, patches, artwork, etc. yourself.  Remember, those people gave you a basis to work off of for your rom.  As much as I have re-done art and ratings, and tweaked hex codes, I still give credit to Slapshot and wboy, for their 30 and 32 team roms, as I used much of what they created.  We all borrow from someone else.

But yes, credit those who helped you in other ways too as it is the respectful thing to do.  Good call!

Will do my friend. I know @clockwise has been nudging me to do original franchise jerseys for home and newer for away(i.e. Nordiques for home and Aves for away) so I'm sure I'll be looking for feedback on jersey color choices and stuff. I'm not exactly looking forward to the amount of work needed on the player attributes part lol. In all seriousness it will be fun though. Once this is all finalized someone can just grab what I have, make a few tweaks if they want, and produce it for Gens. I'm just trying to give some love to my SNES fam. No hate on Gens, just some love over here.

This is already Shaping up to be the best super Ness rum and ever.

Not to take anything away from that other guy who used to do the Rams for super. Blue dad fan or something like that.

edit : Voice to text I’m on my phone

This is hilarious. I have an iPhone and when Siri messes up my voice to text I always call her a stupid b***h lol. Also doesn't help that I have a Boston accent. So who's really the stupid b***h here? LOL

    Oh shoot... my bad...

I thought those embedded images were from your rom.  Lol.  Sorry for the confusion.  I should have read more carefully.

Your spreadsheet does have several of the “missing” players that I mentioned but is also missing several as well.  But, in the end, it’s your rom so definitely “do you” in terms of what you’d like to have in or out of the rom.

Thank you for the kind shout out!  I look forward to your finished product!  Keep up the good work!

Absolutely! I can definitely use some of these notes on missing players from list as well as the individual lines. I was reading through it last night and was like, 'Hey I didn't include Vegas...'. I thought I was going crazy and then realized it was from the list from Halifax that you were basing it off of. To piggyback that, there is still some helpful stuff in what @halifax posted so thank you! It's just so tough trying to include guys from different eras especially not knowing about old NHL(1910s-40s). I will read through versions 1 and 2 of your notes but after a quick skim through it looks like you mentioned some missing guys such as Brett Hull on DAL/MIN. My main thing here is trying to have a guy on a single team. So Hull would be on STL instead. of DAL. Yes he won with DAL but he was also only there for 3 years. This has been BY FAR the trickiest part so far. However I will seriously consider what you've posted.

I will certainly credit anyone that has had any input in this thread but thank you for the reminder. I definitely can't do this by myself lol.

Stay tuned for more updates and my feedback to your roster suggestions. Thanks again!
