  1. I'd like to apologize on behalf of my fellow Ottawa bud. He's still a good bud with good intentions. He's just terrible at playing league games on time.
  2. It's always great to get an update from you Mikey! In terms of perks, here are some ideas: -copy of movie -Pixelated Heroes or NHL 94 branded items (hockey puck, mini-stick, ball cap, shirt, mug, SNES or Genesis controller, signed poster) -name listed in credits of the movie -Buffalo Airways visit -dinner with Mikey
  3. I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I wanted to discuss it more because it's fun. The 1992/93 NHL season (which NHL 94 is based on!!) was amazing, especially in terms of offensive production from many many future hall of famers. An interesting article from a couple years ago. https://www.nhl.com/news/1992-93-featured-unprecedented-offensive-explosion/c-646127 I could read these stats all day: http://www.hockey-reference.com/leagues/NHL_1993_leaders.html Looking at the league leaders for 1992/93, who was criminally underrated or overrated in NHL 94? For example, Rick Tocchet was 14th leading scorer in the NHL, yet he's useless in NHL 94!
  4. I don't get it. Is this a website error or some weird GENS format?
  5. I sent out a #SDL95 tweet today with my mid season trophy predictions.
  6. There's also Cory (the90jacket) and Gorecki (stheds2000) that might be interested. But I'm all for giving the new guy a shot.
  7. Yes, that was a pretty epic 8 game series, akin to the 1972 Summit Series. Annatar wins 4 straight game to start the series, then I win 4 straight games to finish the series. I was really worried I would drop all 8 to Annatar, so needless to say, I'm very happy to end up with a split. On a side note: I believe Renberg got injured 3 or 4 times so I guess he was the Valeri Kharlamov of the series. Looking forward to more games in the future bud!
  8. The schedule is insane! I have to play Annatar and Kingof94 8 times each! Will I make playoffs? BTW I should be available for a few games tonight between 7:30 and 9 PM EST.
  9. My best friend in high school only ever wanted to play 95 (as usual I'm talking SNES). I could never convince him 94 was far superior! He thought 94 was slow whereas I think 94 just has more variation in speed and momentum compared to 95. 95 lacks that feeling of weight and momentum. But overall, its still a very good hockey game compared to most.
  10. Great video, thanks for doing this. Makes me want to play some nhl 92 and nhlpa 93 just for the fighting.
  11. Forum Members should be secret players that can be unlocked by pressing certain button combos, NBA Jam style! e.g. Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A Select Start will get you KingRaph on the NY Rangers.
  12. For SNES, there aren't a lot of actual gameplay tweaks required (none really), but a lot of extra features that would make the game even more awesome. -Season Mode -Fantasy draft -Both Current teams/rosters and classic NHL '94 teams/rosters available -Increased number of statistics available (TOI, hits, +/-, shooting %, PPG, SHG, Corsi, etc.) -NHL Awards (Hart, Norris, Selke, etc.) -Fighting -Team specific arena art and team-specific colours in the crowd These things would make the game so perfect, and I feel like all of these things would be really simple and easy for a seasoned SNES programmer to add..
  13. Looks like a good time! Would be cool to meet JR. Thanks for sharing.
  14. Cool! It's great to have forum user Coffey involved in this show. He even made the trip to Toronto for the skate sesh with Larmer and Anderson. LOL at the comments about my hair! That picture was taken the night before the tourney as soon as AngryJay arrived. Little did we know, we'd both be champs by the next night!
  15. Smoz updated the page to reflect King of '94 West. The earnings are reported in USD, so it's interesting to see the huge difference between $194 CDN in Sept. vs. $200 CDN in January!
  16. I guess I'd be most interested in hearing what the league was like in 92/3 and 93/94 season (the era reflected by NHL 94). Who was the toughest player in the league in 92/93? How did you enjoy playing in the old arenas like Boston Gardens, Maple Leaf Gardens, Chicago Stadium? What is your favourite hockey arena organ song? (give him some choices) How did you manage to score three shorthanded goals as a defenceman in 1992/93? Is there a current NHLer that reminds you of yourself?
  17. Yes, the Y button / "hold up" button is a little glitch, but I didn't even consider it because it's so minor and I don't find it useful. The checking determination has always felt intuitive in SNES, right from the start, so nothing has changed in that regard. If a guy is moving at a good pace and times his hit properly, and catches a guy in the right position, he can destroy just about anyone, regardless of size. It just feels right. I don't think we need to investigate it any further than that really. The "invincibility mode" thing is the only thing that's a bit of a mystery I suppose. Although I don't think it's really invincibility, maybe "beastmode" is a better name for it. hah
  18. What's equally interesting is that there really haven't been any discoveries with the snes version. It was a solid and straightforward game right out of the box. Not many bugs or oddities compared to the GENS version. For a hardcore snes guy like myself, The GENS version is a bit intimidating knowing that there are all these little bugs and tricks.
  19. Looks great to me. If possible I'd like to change my lineup to this: G - Martin Brodeur LD - Dave Manson RD - Vladimir Malakhov LW - Luc Robitaille C - Mike Modano RW - Mark Recchi X - Gary Roberts (extra attacker when goalie pulled) Second Line G - Damian Rhodes LD - Fredrik Olausson RD - Sergei Zubov LW - Gary Roberts C - Alexei Yashin RW - Keith Tkachuk X - Mike Modano (extra attacker when goalie pulled)
