  5. Cool stuff.. and look who's pulling up the #33 ranking!
  6. 1.3 Toronto selects fan favourite Alexander Mogilny
  7. In with Maple Leafs, if we're going back to player draft.
  8. Congrats to ice, who's goalie control is tops in the game IMO. Thanks to Coach for running another fun league, really enjoyed playing with this rom.
  9. I know.. tradition. But I think I liked some of the tweaks Brut came up with for ETB better than traditional GDL.
  10. Thanks, as usual for the detailed post Depch. To me, this looks like a next-gen screen sharing program that is being marketed to gamers. Instead of two machines loading and emulating the game, one machine is running the game and sharing it's screen, while the other views a remote desktop and sends inputs. I was thinking about some previous conversations the other day, and did a quick search for a thread that talked about updating the GENS emulator. I never found it. I did find a few guys on reddit who claim that they can code the GENS emulator. What kind of things could we do with GENS that might make the online experience better? Also, do you know why the new kaillera does not have the server list, and only p2p?
  11. Plays great Skip. Great job guys.
  12. 1. I think you want to keep these leagues small, maybe top it out at 8/10 guys. Brutus and Lupz are excellent additions. 2. Keepers is pretty well defined in the original rules, but may require tweaking with additional teams. 3. Some thought needs to be put into how the new teams will draft without keepers. 4. Great show Coach, nobody needs to be fired.
  13. King's got it right - I came in when most of those late-night 2v2 nuts were doing their thing. Lots of great times. I would include @DaDonch44 to that list, though I don't know if he would actually play. He was a great modder, and league commish - and had many great chats with him. The one BIG PLUS to hosting the event in Toronto again, would be an almost guaranteed visit from @TomKabs93.
  14. I think one of the things that this community under-utilizes, is the vast number of previously hacked roms. I'd love to see a Classic style league run using an old Blitz rom, where players draft the teams. If you are looking for unique roms - check out clockwise NHL91 rom, a real masterpiece. http://www.nhl91.com/thegame/download.asp
  15. Well, with a dedicated NHL94 server, new players would have to use the old version of Kaillera - like we do for 2v2. But it would mean the instructions for playing would look like this: Download GENS, download rom, click netplay, find NHL94 server and host/join. What I envision, is more people willing to try connecting online - and playing each other. Would love to have C level guys playing exis and warming up against each other before Classic begins - rather than being led to the slaughter that is a B division.
  16. I guess, just for simplicity. This came up in a conversation about recruiting new players. I wondered If you could just give new players instructions to download GENS, open netplay and find the NHL94 server - it would mean that they are playing sooner, and having fun with it. In my mind - this is for newbies and/or new Classic players to just get them playing - with perhaps fringe benefits for 2v2 players.
  17. A recent conversation had me wondering if there has ever been an NHL94 Kaillera server? I've done some research, and figure that I can get something running for around 10-15 dollars per month. From what I see, I'd be looking at renting a linux server and installing the Kaillera Server code. It's going to take some serious reading for me to get up to speed with linux server commands - and would appreciate any advice that any of the existing members of this forum may have. For the server itself, I'd love to have options with regards to the location of the physical server, or perhaps even a couple that prove to have the best North American connections for our players. The plan would be to have instructions for new players to play on the server initially (saving them the step of installing Hamachi) and getting them playing sooner. The other issue with this, is that the newest Kaillera version used with GENS does not have a "client/server" option, you have to use the old Kaillera version. Is there a chance or option to add this option to our default GENS version again? Thanks guys. I'm willing to put up the money to rent a server to test things out for 12 months (most have annual contracts), but would like to line things up if anyone has any advice.
  18. I think a retro trio of, RBI (NES), TSB (SNES/GENS), and NHL94 (SNES/GENS) with the potential to share live tournaments (equipment). There are a bunch of really good sports games that you could run tournament brackets with, but these three games all have an existing mod crowd and tools for customizing rosters. I also don't think that you'd need to incorporate all of the forums together - just have a main page with updates from all platforms and a shared tournament schedule.
