  8. It's been a really fun ROM to exi and play - so I figured why not keep it going for guys who've been knocked out. 7 game series, winner can post the gamescores in this thread. Higher seed gets home-ice, series can be played 2-2-2-1. Seeds: TexasPachyderm JackandJose AquaLizard JackVandal AtomicRaven Jer_33 Chef
  9. Like Raph, I'm a 9-5 guy who works on a PC. My wife and I have 2 girls (8 and 10) who enjoy many activities, including swimming/music/horses. In the summers we spend a lot of time camping, playing music, and ripping around on my motorbike. In the winters, I play floor/boot hockey and compete in an outdoor boot tournament in Duluth MN called Superboot (just finished last weekend). I also play in a table hockey league with a group that I found last year. Awesome fun every couple of weeks.
  10. Thanks for the last minute add.. I'll take Patrick Roy... I mean Montreal.
  11. Alternately, you pop out the batteries, warm them up in your hands and reinsert.
  12. I'll jump in as a 5th B if to balance it out if you'd like?
  13. So lag is really just the universe trying to correct a glitch in the emulator...
  14. Love the classic players, the blind draft, the tough keeper choices etc.. If trading is allowed, not sure if it was discussed, does the players previous draft position move with them? And Brut, great video.. not sure if you slurred through my name, but I didn't hear it. Make sure I'm in that draft lottery! I want bingo balls!
  15. This is as good a thread as any. I mentioned these ideas in a conversation with Depch. Idea 1: A survivor-style tournament where a win allows you to "trade" a player with the losing team. Idea 2: I have a mostly complete list of 1994 NHL salaries that could be used for a true salary cap league.
  16. Talk to coach, but aside from the tournament play you could have a set-up for his play-off runs. You could run a video station for people to attempt to break Kingraph's scoring record on Twin Galaxies. I also have the set-up (console/multitap/everdrive/controllers) to run our 2v2 rom for 4 guys to play.
  17. I'll see if I can get 3-4 guys to drive down together. Lemme work on it.
  18. The biggest issue with playing guys well above your level is the lop-sided scores. Obviously everyone hates a lop-sided score - but it's the momentum that is the real issue. When an A player gets up 3-4 goals on you, your players go into shellshock and cannot complete a simple pass - it's like awareness just drops through the floor. It's really difficult to work on anything other than goalie control when your team refuses to play. I think that if guys are serious about a mentor model, then just playing isn't enough. These need to be structured in some way - and instead of simple chat, should have full voice chat (which I think discord can provide). There should be roms developed to help work on offence/defence (1v1, or maybe 3v2 with 3 forwards on one side and 2 defence on the other). Lots of game pausing/resets to allow for pointers/conversations. One thing I'd love to see with the scoring videos out there, would be a view of the controller button presses. Either a screen within a screen with a camera on the finger presses - or there is a version of the GENS emulator that shows the button presses in text at the top of the screen. For a lot of the moves, pass-shots especially, it's a timing thing. To visualize the timing would be a great help, for me anyway.
  19. Finally added a review for the Hori FC4 after a year and a half: http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/14716-6-button-controller-round-up/&do=findComment&comment=152944
  20. This looks interesting - I've never seen a 6-button SNES controller before. http://www.gametronex.com/dreamGEAR-Arcade-Fighter-Classic-Pad-for-PS3-p/ps3-a1013.htm ($19.99) Mixed reviews on Amazon.
  21. In plz. Has anyone reached out to or heard from any previously active coaches? Mind, Wally, Skeletor etc..?
  22. Here are the 1v1 roms Kabs created for GDL, had it bookmarked.
  23. Not sure when the next VHL is slated, but there would probably be some overlap. The no penalties has been interesting - but if PIMs are on the table, I'll always vote for 1min penalties. Line changes are a non-starter for me, as would 20min periods. I also think that you don't need to necessarily split the A/B players - but it would be nice to have a consolation bracket so the bottom guys can at least play beyond the regular season. I don't think anyone would care if it wasn't tracked on the website - just a thread keeping track of the games/series.
  24. If it's in Chicago, I call the lazyboy at Brut's place!
