  1. I'll see some time if i can track down the source code.. the kega site doesn't have it. I think it's closed-source, though, so I wouldnt' be able to hack that in.
  2. Correct. I am encouraging guys to keep on pace for the next checkpoint (30 on 11/11). The final checkpoint is a big one, too, 14 games in 2 weeks, rather than the usual 10 in 2 weeks, so ideally guys will be ahead of the checkpoints if possible.
  3. Keep up the good pace guys Everyone should be aiming to have 25 games played by the end of this weekend. Stragglers: "A": sebe82 - 15 - really need to pick it up, 10 games behind (that's just 2.5 hours) skoolyardpuck - 18 - doing all right considering you're a replacement coach Icestorm NHL94 - 20 - little bit slow thegr8199kings - 21 - little bit slow "B": Flamingpavelbure - 9+ - Just started, but setting a good pace Dervin36 - 15 - still lagging, but won't be as busy starting in a week or so sonoffett87 - 15 - not bad for a replacement coach JacketsZherdev - 20 - still hasn't played or responded to forum PM. I'm concerned about Sebe, Dervin, and Jackets; I'd like to see you guys play some games this week before the next checkpoint!
  4. you can't compare modern games with games on emulators -- modern games have network compensation built right in to make them feel more responsive (although funny things can happen like getting shot after you've rounded a corner because in the other guy's screen, you weren't around the corner yet). what causes lag in gens/kaillera is the network lag, though, and kaillera can't compensate for it (though p2p smoothing works nicely for me 90+% of the time). perhaps zsnes is p2p under the hood (server just sets up the game) and has smoothing built in. we agree, we just lay the blame differently.. game lag is caused because kaillera doesn't handle network lag well.
  5. I'll check it out some time. Different save format could be a problem. Also, does it let you have multiple save slots? Basically, though, the players decide what to use; I don't want to say "you MUST use x".
  6. Also, I think Windows Firewall doesn't let p2p work for some people? Get a different firewall like Zone Alarm or Comodo
  7. To noone in particular: Here is how to see if you even need more RAM (using windows XP): right click on the windows task bar select "Task Manager" go to the Performance tab "Physical Memory (K)" - "Total" is how much RAM you have. Commit Charge (K)" - "Peak" is the max amount of RAM you have needed since you last rebooted windows. If Peak is greater than Total, then you probably need more RAM. However, if you turn off programs and your Peak Commit Charge is currently significantly less than your Total Physical Memory while Gens is running, then adding more RAM is unlikely to change anything, because that Peak probably occurred while you were using some other bigger program (photoshop, firefox with lots of tabs open, etc) Lagginess is due pretty much to a few things: #1: network delays. This is the main culprit, and is largely out of your control!! turn off anything that uses the network, other than Gens. if you are sharing internet with other people on your router, this will also slow you down. There is no point paying for super duper high bandwidth internet, either: it will not help, as the problem is latency (communication delay), not bandwidth (download rate). #2: Windows. Windows sometimes just says "i'm going to go see what else is happening.." and goes and services other applications. Get rid of all those programs running in your system tray near your clock -- quicktime updaters, outlook, itunes, whatever. you should have your firewall, antivirus, instant messenger, and not much else down there. Reboot every couple days at least; don't keep sleeping your laptop, actually reboot it sometimes! #3: RAM. I really think this is unlikely to make much of a difference. If you have 512 MB of RAM in XP, you should be fine. Gens is old, it doesn't need much. Just make sure your other big programs are off, such as web browsers, Word, Outlook, Photoshop... If you're using Firefox 3, make use of the handy feature that let's you save all your current tabs for the next time you load FF. Still, the main issue is the network connection between you and your opponent, and you can't control that, since it's bunch of switches and wires spanning 100s of kilometers. If you are playing on a server, you are adding lots more switches and km's, as well as the delays of the server computer. Use p2p if possible. If you can't host using p2p, then use Hamachi as well. Learn how to set up your router to forward port 27886 (google "port forward [router model]")
  8. I very much doubt it sends the audio data to the server. It probably just sends button presses and information required to keep things in sync (frame numbers and stuff).
  9. It's a bunch of in-jokes, don't worry about it : )
  10. FlamingPavelBure given DET (replaces KazeLegend15) JacketsZherdev given VAN (replaces WagsTh) - FPB: 44 games, you can do it - JZ: I know it sucks to get a 4-14-2 team to start, but, on the bright side, you'll end up getting better draft positions next season.
  11. PP and PK stats can be found by clicking the "+" mark after "Team Standings". This goes to the "Team Stats" page, which has more detailed stats (checks, breakaways, one-timers, period breakdowns, attack zone...) http://www.blitz94.com/teamstats.asp Shutouts and GWG are things I would like to add eventually. EDIT: Shutouts and GWG have been added.
  12. You should keep your commitment to the league until the end of the season.
  13. You only have 5 more games; come on, stick it out
  14. but ties are allowed in classic :/

Important Update!! v1.3 v1.2 had a bug that ruined the Attack Zone stat (it maxed out at 256 seconds, so if you had 257 seconds of attack zone, it started over at 1 second!) From what I can tell, this bug was caused by a bug in the old microsoft compiler, which let me do a calculation I shouldn't have been able to do.. once I started using a proper compiler, it stopped working of course, with disastrous results
  17. it was something like.. when you beat a guy, you get a certain fraction of his points. ties and OTLs give you a lower fraction. can't remember if losses gave you anything.
  18. The 20-game checkpoint is tomorrow, Tue Oct 28, and quite a few people are not there yet: "A" sebe82 - 15 thegr8199kings - 17 skoolyardpuck - 9 - (replacement coach, some leeway) "B" Dervin36 - 12 (this is not a good pace!!) rynweinmeyer - 16 Rage93 - 17 sonoffett87 - 15 - (replacement coach, some leeway) KazeLegend15 - 0 - (replacement coach, but zero is pretty weak!) If you don't make this checkpoint, please work harder to make the next one. it's 10 games in 2 weeks; it should be really easy. Please try to show on AIM a few times per week for a couple hours in the evening. There are some guys I NEVER see online.
  19. @WPG 5 - 4 BOS @BOS 1 - 3 WPG ggs i dont' know how i won the 2nd game. my guys couldn't make a pass the whole game, kept giving it away, but then ice's guys couldn't get a shot off because my guys kept knocking it off their sticks
  20. Hm, I think other hacks will get my attention first; this one doesn't interest me much. Not sure how the math would work when 'good' roenick checks 'good' bourque or the other way around, either
  21. i'll be on after 9 or so tonight (saturday oct 25) and tomorrow; please hit me up for games if you see me. i'll be looking for you 8|
  22. But then Roenick and Fleury would be good as well as Neely and Bourque, while the guys in the middle would become the useless guys. Why not just change the check formula so they all get the same base modifier (instead of weight)? Obviously no one would pick "sucky" Fleury, or if they did, there would be "good" Fleury and "sucky" Fleury in the same league. Maybe you need to give some more detailed examples, because I don't get what you're getting at :/
  23. I suppose it could be done, but how do you decide who gets buffed and who doesn't?
