  1. Preseason testing. Go to regular season results. Season 07.
  2. Thanks, I'll have to get my hands on a copy. P.S. Sorry for hijacking this thread.
  3. LOL...what is this show and why am I not watching it?
  4. Summarizing these ideas (and please continue to make suggestions/give ideas!): I. Revamp the NHL94.com homepage a. Main focus on leagues/netplay b. Current/Future League Information/Schedules - Classic - Blitz - Survivor - 2v2 Summit/Winter Classic - GDL - SDL - Misc (Anaheim/SNESOT, etc) II. Videos to supplement the very useful "Getting Started" section on nhl94online.com a. Downloading GENS Emulator & nhl94 ROM, configuration and playing b. Downloading ZSNES Emulator ... c. Using AIM and contacting other members for games d. Setting up Hamachi e. How to play online via Hamachi/P2P f. How to play online via Client/Server I think the only person who can update the nhl94.com main site is the Grand Poobah himself, Evan. The videos, however, can be done by volunteers. Hypercam, or any other desktop recording device could be used, and a voice-over, if anyone is savvy enough and would like to volunteer. My videos list is just a suggestion off the top of my head...perhaps there's a better way to organize it. Either way, those videos have to happen. Should be easy, and highly beneficial.
  5. LOL. I told you "let's do this" after we agreed it would be 5-2. You then stormed away to "do better $hit" than play me. You should read the etiquette guide sometime (which I didn't write, but aggregated). Pausing during play to look at game stats, dropping with a minute left in the game, not saying "gg"...all bush league stuff you did. I'm not the bad guy here...don't know why you're so angry. I can only conclude you are a sore loser. Oh well. I'm done on this topic.
  6. We played on Friday as we scheduled, but FPB disappeared after his "keyboard stopped responding" at the end of the 2nd period of game 3. Technically we have another period left in game 3, where I'm leading 5-2 (6th goal was scored during FPB's malfunction) I thought we were going to finish, but FPB left, never came back or responded in any way. Bush league stuff...especially given his reputation.
  7. Fun bet! Unfortunately McSorely/Featherstone will beat any defensive duo for combined PIM...I'll throw my pesos in.
  8. I should be around Saturday afternoon -- shoot me a text via AIM if you're on and I'm not.
  9. When McSorely and Featherstone are both in the box (happens frequently enough ) my line becomes Neely at C, Selanne and Houlder at D. Burt, my 4th D, never comes out. I don't know what happens if I put Selanne at C during that time. I'll play again tonight and note down exactly what happens. Personally, I like it, but it's not fair to everyone else.
  10. That's right, I still have my problem --
  11. With Jesus, anything seems possible. I suggested on the site to use the "Z" button as a guarantee switch to another player. I hate when I'm poke checking like a maniac when my actual intent is to switch players (or vice versa...about to poke check a guy, and now I have control of the trailing forward!). It would be nice, similar to the SNES defender switch, to hit one button for switching players and one for poke checks.
  12. From the pixelpuck website itself: "Kaneda even went the extra mile and worked with me to make sure his goalie control hack would work in 4 Way Play for 2on2." So like Wookie said, make sure you have your controllers configurations in GENS set to 6-button (even if you are using 3). We should try it again...goalie button on 2v2 would be sick because it takes extra long to get control of the goalie during 2v2 play. On a side note, that post on pixelpuck mentions potential future uses for the "X" and "Z" button. "here are plans in the future to remap the two extra buttons. (X) will be used to change lines. What exactly the (Z) button will be used for is undetermined, perhaps as a saucer pass button or as a drop pass button. I’m open to suggestions." Getting the "X" button to change lines would be sweet.
  13. Nobody is using DET this season. Robbie had them last year, and is now using WSH. http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/14114-blitz-07-team-switch-free-for-all/ NYI other team available
  14. I find that the Genesis controllers are actually well built. You can take out the few screws in the back, take the controller apart, wash all the plastic parts with soap and water, clean the circuit board with a little alcohol, put it back and it's as good as new. I've been using that 6-button original actively for almost a year now...no problems so far. I don't smash them though, lol.
  15. When you go to "options" --> "joypads" --> "redefine keys" for your 1st controller, are you able to map the input keys to your joypad (i.e. when GENS says INPUT KEY FOR UP, can you press up on your joypad and it registers?)
  16. Yeah, we guessed it was due to the goalie hack, 6 button configuration...but that was just speculation.
  17. In too. If for anything, to hear the phrase, "yeah, these are my buds JayLighter420 and da94wookie...they're gonna be here for the next 12 hours or so".
  18. I was witness to this amazing tent live. Outdoor '94...nothing like it.
  19. http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/chat/_/id/43844/nhl-with-modano-roenick This made me laugh: Darryl (Chicago) JR, how often do fans come up to you to tell you how awesome you were in the NHL 94 video game? Jeremy Roenick (3:51 PM) At least 8 times a week. At least 8-10 times a week, either on Twitter or people come up to me.
  20. Love this thread Bob! I just played test games with two new guys last week and I was somewhat thinking about this as well. First, taking the time to help new guys is very important. I treat test games as important as a league games. If that first experience is a good one, it's more likely that we get a new member of the community who will be active, and that's what it's all about. You never know who will be the next great player, and we ALL benefit from a larger community. I know it can be cumbersome sometimes, but to all of you who take the time to help out our new guys, answer questions, play test games, etc...a BIG THANK YOU. These two guys I played last week are good, and I could definitely see them become even better. BUT, without a structured league, new guys will have a harder time getting exhibition games in...it takes a little time to get comfortable with the community and how we play. I remember when I first started, I was a little...intimidated? -- not exactly the word, but I didn't really ask for exhibitions because I wasn't comfortable with it. But it was guys like sebe, zalex and kupuck (and others) who really helped me out and sort of "broke the ice". So again, BIG THANK YOU to all of you who help new guys. Those two points boil down to asking our current live community to add new guys to their AIM list and take some time to help them out. Treat it as your duty. As far as promotion, it's great to see people promote on message boards, like donnybrook did last week or so, and of course word of mouth is huge. You always hope for a viral effect...two new guys add two friends, who find two more, who know another...etc. I think right behind the start of any Classic season is the best time to promote as a structured league, with a clean website and simple format makes it much easier for new guys to get involved for a few months.
