  1. I think if everyone agreed to this, I'm pretty sure I can get those stats in. Either through the countifs function, or some other way if Google docs doesn't support it. Same with getting a league leaders in Pts/G, G/G, A/G, etc. sheet for both teams and players.
  2. Google Docs has gotten a lot better since I last visited! I created a sample of what I was talking about. This is a simple 3 team (NYR, VAN, BOS) schedule, where each team plays two home and two away vs each other. You'll see a tab for each team, with the games listed on top. Simply type in the goals and assists for your team for the game. The results and standings will update automatically. I think you should be able to edit the document if you enter with the link below: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqEmEQH4fNGPdDJnOUFxU1RvM3VZdEo1d3lDR0FIWnc This was pretty easy to create, and could probably be improved with some more thought. I find this easy to update, but I also understand that I'm more familiar with spreadsheets than the norm. We can still post final scores as a check, because there will be input errors, formula errors, potential vandalism, etc. as this will be open to everyone. Thoughts, suggestions, criticisms all appreciated!
  3. Was thinking the same thing -- I think I can come up with an easy format for us to use. My initial idea is to have a sheet for each team, players listed on the lefthand column by last name alphabetical order, and the games across the top. Then, each person can just go the their team page, and type in the goals/assists for that game (each game has 2 columns -- G/A) by player. Depending on the capabilities of Google docs, this can also feed a master sheet that updates the score of the game, W/L, and standings. I'll tinker around with something and maybe have some other people help me test. But I think it should work and it will be easier than it sounds.
  4. If people don't mind posting like they did last year, or with screen shots, I'd be glad to help with the player stats. If you guys want, I can compile and update every few days or weekly. Just give me a holler. Or, perhaps by the time the league is up and running, we can develop a simple savestate extract to make it easier. Don't know if we can post savestates on the forum, but something to think about.
  5. I got it work last night, played exhibs. Long story short, I downloaded GENS again to get a "fresh" copy and the ROM worked. Don't ask me what that means or why it worked, but it did. Lol.
  6. I'll play, assuming I can get it to work, NYR back!
  7. Hmm, will try again later tonight.
  8. Has anyone got this to work? My screen just stays black when I load the ROM
  9. Game 1: TB 4 @ CHI 10 Game 2: TB 5 @ CHI 0 Game 3: CHI 2 @ TB 5 Game 4: CHI 3 @ TB 0 Series tied 2-2. Ggs so far, we'll finish up our series sometime next weekend.
  10. Great write up! Was like reading a news piece from Bobby McSticks, beat writer for NHL'94. Lol. Also sounds like all the games were close hard hitting battles. Congrats on a great season Robbie, and congrats to smoz on the victory.
  11. I know we got our series in already hokkee, but for the other coaches -- I should be available throughout the weekend. Let us know your availability!
  12. For anyone downloading the spreadsheet, it's a bit of a mess (I never intended it to be used by anyone other than me) but here are some tips to come up with your own ratings: 1. You can input any weights to the attributes that you prefer in the "All" sheet. I suggest making sure the total number for Forwards and Defense is the same. 2. You can change the weights used for each F1, F2, etc. in the "Ratings" sheet on Row 31 (B-I). 3. Refresh the "unique pivot" pivot table. 4. Look at the "Blitz 06 Owners" tab and you will find your new rankings 5. If you want to normalize to 100, take the top rated guy from the "Pivot" sheet, and use (=100/player overall rating). Apply that figure to the "Scale" in "All", assuming it was originally set to 1. Ugh, hope that makes sense. If people find this useful, I can easily clean it up and make a more user-friendly spreadsheet.
  13. Sure. Using Smozoma's Blitz Spreadsheet, use these weights on the "formulas" sheet: Defense BiasD 0.00 ScaleD 0.61 WgtD 5.00 AgiD 3.13 SpdD 3.75 OfAD 1.25 DfAD 3.88 ShPD 2.88 CkD 1.88 StHD 3.38 ShAD 2.13 EndD 0.00 RghD 0.00 PasD 3.50 AgrD 0.00 EDIT: The references are off from Smoz' original sheet, I forgot I added columns. You can refer to my spreadsheet download below. The other change I made was to the formula in the "All" sheet. I change the reference from Wgt (Column L) to Check Ability (Column AB). This is because in classic (my original analysis), weight was the determining checking factor, whereas in Blitz we use Check Ability. I also divide the value by 2 since the values (~3 to ~14) are roughly double every other value (1-6). Same for forwards. Ray Bourque is in row 37, so the formula in K37 should read: =BiasD+ScaleD*((WgtD/2)*AB37+AgiD*M37+SpdD*N37+OfAD*O37+DfAD*P37+ShPD*Q37+CkD*R37+StHD*T37+ShAD*U37+EndD*V37+RghD*W37+PasD*X37+AgrD*Y37) That should get you to 100. FYI, the forward weights used are: BiasF 0.00 ScaleF 0.61 WgtF 4.27 AgiF 3.42 SpdF 6.83 OfAF 0.85 DfAF 0.85 ShPF 5.98 CkF 0.85 StHF 2.56 ShAF 2.56 EndF 0.00 RghF 0.00 PasF 2.56 AgrF 0.00 You can download my spreadsheet here and save yourself the trouble : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10816388/blitz06%20draft%20and%20teams%20%28rankings%29.xlsx
  14. Apparently my team is crazy bad! Not really -- I think the beauty of a draft league is that all of these teams are competitive. FYI, here are the top 3 ranked lineups for forwards, defense, and starting lineup. 15. Without going into too much detail, I used the same premise as my classic Team Rankings analysis to come up with these rankings. Things I changed: Checking Ability substituted for Weight in player ranks Normalized F/D to 100 Goalie weight from 6 to 3 in overall team ranking. Strong goalies are more important for less skilled players, and Blitz has a much higher skill level than classic overall With the use of checking + weight to determine check ability, Ray Bourque becomes by far the best individual player in Blitz. Set at 100, the next rated player is Mogilny/Lemiuex at 90 . Again, this is only one opinion, one analysis, presented here for fun and discussion. (Although, I can't imagine a realistic scenario where Bourque isn't #1). I sorted the list by overall team and I included a few different ratings so you can get a sense of what the team strengths are - forwards, defense, goalie, etc. The first section is the team ratings, the other section is how those ratings rank. 16. This is awesome...love the format & multiple betting options (4,5,6,7 games).
  17. Cool, gotcha. I may come up with some team rankings that value weight/check ability, shot power, etc. more and awareness, endurance, etc. less, similar to what I did with my classic player rankings (i.e. value the attributes we care about). As you know the original formula values endurance (useless without line changes), gives Shot Power a 1, offensive awareness 3, weight is not factored. I will, of course, share any results I come up with.
  18. How are the individual player ratings calculated? Is is based on the values set in the Blitz spreadsheet? Sorry if this has been covered before, I couldn't find anything via search.
  19. Congrats to all and extra thanks to the ULTRA GRAND SUPREME ADMIN BUDS -- Halifax, Chaos, & Gretzkyonacold!

Been three years since the last post -- is this program still valid for Blitz 6?
  22. 3/4 again for the division (hit 3/4 in B as well)! HABS is the best gambler!
  23. That formula makes sense, thanks. I need to get one of those "star" players, that would help.
  24. You would be hard pressed to come up with an excuse that can top this. You had me at Aug 15. Nice comeback, btw, to make the playoffs!
