  1. ranatoro replied today to an email that i sent him last night. he said he still wants to play in the league and that the reason he hasnt had any games played is that the people he has games with werent online when he was. I havent had a chance to check out who has been online today, but hopefully he has been around today and that people have seen him and been able to get some games going.
  2. To address your question skool, no one really likes it when people drop, but its a fact of life that people are going to drop out for whatever reason so we deal with the problem in whatever manner we can that is deemed best for the league. I agree with you that hokkeefans situation last season was unique, you would have to ask dmitry to get the true answer for that one. Trading teams straight up and having people replace people who are no longer in the leauge is like comparing apples and oranges from my perspective.
  3. kind of funny how you say it was just a question that is being taken way too seriously. I remember a certain someone telling me "dont tell me this cant be done" after i gave my opinion on an debateable question.
  4. I dont live by the creedo that winning is more important than having fun, im sorry you got that impression. All im saying is that without rules this league doesnt mean jack. If people are trading teams left and right for whatever reason in the middle of the season then i think there is a serious problem with the league. If this was the preseason and you two had come to this aggreement, i dont think i would have much problem at all with what was going on. But fooling with something like this mid-season just doesnt make sense to me. Also if having fun is more important than winning to you, why would you agree to such a proposal? It doesnt make any real sense to me.
  5. First off id like to state why would you even leave this situation up to debate when you shoot down my objection with quote "dont tell me this cant be done." If your going to shoot people down like that, instad of saying contact you on AIM or whatever, why dont you just put a big middle finger up there instead? it would make more sense in my opinion. Second of all, skool has his team and you have yours, this isnt some contest to say "oh dude, you suck right now, i cant believe your record sucks so much, let me show how its done so i can make you look like a dumb ass." you may not be saying this directly, but its my interpretation of the whole situation. Based on my interpretation, i should take over some other team that is doing poorly that i think should be doing well and just trade my team. No matter what you tell me, that isnt hockey, you dont see coaches switching teams mid season to take the challenge of a team that looks good on paper but sucks on ice. The day that happens, the day i will consider being ok with something like this. Thirdly, i dont know what hockey you watch, but there are outrageous blowouts, you dont see it as much now and days since the game is lower scoring, but look back 15 years ago when 5 expansion teams joined the league in 3 years, there were blowouts every night because the talent base of the teams on the top level and those at the bottom were vastly different. Thats the way this league is, we have people of all levels of talents and thus there will be blowouts. Im tired of this sugar coated world you want to live in where people rarely get blown out so we can save some egos and people can sleep easier at night. People are going to get blown out, its a fact of life, if you dont think so go look at the scores, theres your facts right in your face. If you want parody, go make your own league so you can have your perfect world, take the league for what it is and accept it, if you dont want to, leave, no one is forcing you to play. Fourthly, regarding mid season take overs. These are completly different situations, we arent like a minor league hockey system where if a team loses its players or cant pay its expenses, the arena locks them out, etc. where we will fold teams. It is a commonly accepted practice to allow coaches outside the league to take over vaccancies that have been created by people who have left the league or been kicked out. There is no precdent for switching teams mid-season and im not willing to sit here and let one be made because gr81 wnats to prove some theory of his right. If you want to prove your theory right then just play some exhibitions, you have your own team and thats the one you drafted, live with it. Finally, i would like to say that skool did just fine with his team in the preseason, he is just in a little tough stretch that if he continues to work at it, im sure he will be able to get out of it and start finding some success. If he is allowed to trade teams with gr81 and then continues to struggle then what happens? does he trade yet again? this could just turn into one slippery slope if this is allowed to happen.
  6. uhhh...i gotta say i object to this. you get the team you started with and you stick with it, you dont just trade it, thats not how leagues are run or hockey works.
  7. That game 2 was an absolute gem, keep up the good work.
  8. An absolutely beautiful game, i just wish the expansion San Jose Sharks were available, but this game is so great i can almost forget about it.
  9. looks like you might be in luck , im hearing whispers about some of the players in the league leaving for one reason or another, so just stay up to date with whats going on and you may be in the league before you know it.
  10. there is this one way i know of that helps me play pretty good d, its called not trading for Arturs Irbe. That usually keeps me in pretty good shape.
  11. I got your back here EA, in the preseason the lag was pretty bad in my two games with him, in one game it was so bad i was nice enough to not post the beat down i gave him.
  12. Despite being an expansion team in season 2 of the draft league, the Buffalo Sabres are expecting big things to happen this season at the old Auditoriuom. Buffalo fans can expect to see a lot of goals as the Sabres will do everything they can to light the lamp en route to the Stanley Cup with goal scoring sensation Tomas Sandstrom leading the attack up front. He will be slapping home passes all season long off the stick of Sergei "Big Mak" Makarov and the gritty Terry Yake. Don Sweeney leads the defensive corpse for the Sabres that will be augmented by Sergei Bautin and Mark Howe. Manning the nets for the boys in blue will be human sieve, Tim Chevrolet. Forwards- With a goal scorer like Sandstrom, the Sabres dont lack a supreme weapon of mass destruction, but things get pretty thin after that with Terry Yake and Sergei Makarov trying to add secondary goal scoring. If Big Mak and Yake can provide some pop, the Sabres will extremely dangerous to deal with. Brian Bellows is ready to hope over the boards at a moments notice to take his turns firing at net as well is vetern Ray "chicken parm" Ferraro. Defense- Don Sweeney looks to have a boffo type season by sending shockwaves through the league with his massive body checks and offensive abilities from the back line. If any of Sergei Bautin, Mark Howe, or Roger Johansson can contribute with solid defensive performances, Sweeney will be allowed more leeway to attack the offensive zone. Goalies- Tim Chevrolet is already on thin ice in Buffalo, he has been issued a minor league number by manager Juice Maker and has been nothing but shaky so far in the preseason. Stephane Fiset is a young up and coming goaltender who could see some valuable minutes in the season when Chevrolet fails. Manager- Juice Maker is coming into the league looking for redemption after being unceremoniously booted from San Jose after losing the cup finals. He is a man on a mission, but with a far less superior team than the one he guided last season, his patience with this team will be the determianing factor between success and utter failure. Season Outlook- Look for the Sabres to contend for the top spot in the Northeast division, but could be an early round casualty in the playoffs if this team is unable to find consistency.
  13. the current #52 terry yake i would like to change to #38. Chevrolet needs minor league number, so he will get #56. Ferraro from #20 to #26.
  14. ill make it easy on you since i have makarov. I have the russian i want, no thanks.
  15. In response to Scribe's post the West is a strong conference. The 4 playoff teams are Tor, LA, Chi, and Det. Skool was the 7th seed in the west which is a strong showing considering the depth in that conference last season Carse took florida to the 6th seed in the original rom last season and that warrents some respect. We also have some young up and comers in Ana and Van with Dal being a seasoned veteran in the original rom. Hopefully that addresses your concerns about equality in the conferences. Also note, that these placements arent final, D will make the final call.
  16. Late night while most of you guys were sleeping me D and discussed the whole schedule/alignment thing and we came up with a solution. What we will have is 2 conferences with 2 divisions each. This means there will be 4 divisions with 6 teams in it. The schedule will have a team playing its 5 division opponents 4 times and the rest of the teams in the league 2 times for a total of 56 games, which is just the same amount as last season. The top 8 teams from each conference will qualify to the playoffs at the end of the season. Last night I made up some divisions that are trying to be as even as possible and i sent them to D, he will look over what i proposed and make the neccessary tweaks if need be. Here are the proposed divisions Eastern Conference: Atlantic Division: New York Rangers Pittsburgh New York Islanders Hartford Washington Tampa Bay Northeast Division: Buffalo Montreal Boston Ottawa Quebec New Jeresey Western Conference: Central Division: Chicago Detroit Florida Dallas Calgary Edmonton Pacific Division: Toronto St. Louis Anahiem Los Angeles Vancouver San Jose Again this is a proposed alignment but it should give you a fair estimate of where you will likely end up this season.
